Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom was a recipient of the federal 2022 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, and it means more curriculum around the state's specialty crops will be available to classrooms. Specialty Crops Coming To Class

McFinn Technologies, founded by John McGinn and Leroy Finnegan, has introduced a groundbreaking solution to the dairy industry. The duo recognized a significant gap in the market for an improved milk pump that wouldn't damage the milk fat. This innovation marks a crucial shift in pump technology, benefiting both dairy farmers and processors.

"Our pump design has completely changed the game," said John McGinn, co-founder of McFinn Technologies. "There really is no other milk pump like it on the market today."

Many existing milk pumps are over 60 years old and were designed for much smaller dairy operations. McFinn's pump, in contrast, is modern, effective, and optimized for today’s farming practices. Notably, it helps preserve milk quality by preventing damage to the milk fat, a key concern for dairy processors. While the farmers benefit from the pump’s longevity, processors ultimately see the greatest advantage in terms of quality.

Most Americans agree that the U.S. should prioritize renewable energy over fossil fuels. A recent Pew Research Center study puts that number at nearly 70 percent. Where the conversation gets divided is deciding where these renewable energy projects should go. 

Pete Moris, a Grant County resident, volunteers with a group hosting informational sessions in Southwest Wisconsin about wind energy projects. During these sessions, Pete has found that rural residents are growing more uncertain about the oncoming wind energy developments popping up around the state.

He says regardless of your feelings around renewable energy, it's important to know all of the information and practice caution before signing a dotted line.

On Jan. 13-14 at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in the Wisconsin Dells, the Wisconsin Agribusiness Classic will welcome all confluences of the industry from throughout the Midwestern states.

Wisconsin's premier agribusiness industry event boasts an attendance of nearly 1,000, says WABA Executive Director Grace Howe. The conference and tradeshow is a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Agri-Business Association and the University of Wisconsin.
