Patricia Kelm and her sons, Brian and Mike Kelm, share the microphone to tell the story of the family's 160-acre Centennial farm in Marquette County. The first Kelm generation purchased the property in 1921 and were dairy farmers. The land was farmed with horses until 1959, when the family purchased its first tractor. The dairy farm never changed to a pipeline system -- the farm used milk cans until retirement in the 1980s. Today, the property is rented out for cash cropping, and Mike and Brian -- who worked on the farm as high schoolers -- maintain the property. The Kelm family hopes that the fifth or sixth generations take up farming in the future and keep the land in the family for years to come.
