Corn Soy Expo Attendees Happy To Be Back

The Dairy Innovation Hub helps to drive research and continue to improve Wisconsin's dairy industry.  Taylor Schafer got the chance to visit with Heather White, faculty director for the Dairy Innovation Hub to find out what they've been up to and what they're looking forward to in 2022.

Spring time means more baby animals on the farm.  It may be calves, lambs, piglets... or chicks!  Nick Levendoski of Sunnyside Hatchery in Beaver Dam joins us to share what things are looking like for those wanting to purchase chicks this year.  Demand skyrocketed at the beginning of the pandemic, but has seemed to level off more recently.  He does say however to get your orders in early if you're looking for something specific.

The Wisconsin Corn Soy Expo is going on right now at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.  Pam Jahnke and Stephanie Hoff are attending the conference, Pam gives an update as she visits with Mark Hoffman, President of the Wisconsin Corn Growers and Kevin Boehm of Oro Agri one of the exhibitors at the show.  They agree it feels so good to be back in person, and is a great learning and networking experience for all of those attending.

One third of university students in the United States struggle with food insecurity.  UW-River Falls is looking to solve that problem for students, faculty and staff on their campus.  Kathleen Hunzer, staff member at UWRF that has been instrumental in expanding Freddy's Pantry, joins us to share how they are working to serve those in need and why it is so important to tackle the issue.
