Saxophonist Dante Tan began his musical journey on the violin at the age of five, before discovering the instrument that would become his voice — the saxophone. In this episode, Dante talks about what drew him to the instrument, the moment he found out he’d been selected for the Singapore Symphony’s President’s Young Performers Concert, and the saxophonists who inspire him most.
He also shares his favourite saxophone piece, and reflects on the excitement and challenges of preparing Tomasi’s bold 20th-century Saxophone Concerto for his debut with the SSO at Victoria Concert Hall.
