By Newsbreak Producer, Tashlan Naidoo - Gauteng Health Department has closed several spaza shops in Ekurhuleni on Gauteng's Eastrand. MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko is leading the spaza shop blitz accompanied by environmental inspectors from the City of Ekurhuleni. This follows a rise in incidents of food-borne illnesses from products bought from local spaza shops. The MEC is moving from shop to shop to check if owners are complying with food safety standards.
