By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - Government debt is sitting at a crisis level. That's according to Director of Merchant Africa and economist Lavan Gopaul. Delivering the medium-term budget policy statement on Wednesday, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana revealed that the country's debt has risen too fast and is too high. Godongwana announced that government debt will reach more than six trillion, or 75.5% of GDP, in the 2025/26 financial year.
