By Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Thami Ntuli has called on health practitioners to conduct unannounced inspections of spaza shops across the province. He made the announcement at a meeting currently underway in Durban, which includes Mayors from all 54 Municipalities in the province. The meeting comes in the wake of the increase in food borne illnesses affecting people especially school pupils over the past few months. Ntuli says they have found some shop owners who are not following proper hygiene practices as well as changing expiry dates on food packaging.
