Descendants of Indian Indentured Labourers converged on the Durban coastline to offer traditional marigold flowers to their ancestors, marking 164 years since the arrival of Indians in South Africa. Led by the 1860 Heritage Centre in Durban- the event was a time of reflection for South African Indians. KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli, Ethekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba and Provincial MEC for Arts and Culture Mntomuhle Khawula addressed the gathering- paying homage to the contributions made by indentured Indians to South Africa.
