But civil society organisation SECTION27 says this does not factor the degree that women carry the burden of health-care inadequacies. According to the organisation- women generally have to serve as caregiver within an ailing health system. As a result, the budget allocations- both provincially and nationally- do not address core challenges experienced by women on the ground. SECTION27 Budget Analyst Matshidiso Lencoasa explains how more impact assessment is needed when tabling a health budget...

The President described Naidoo-Tweedie as a fearless freedom fighter who endured detention, solitary confinement, banning orders and imprisonment for her unwavering commitment to the anti-apartheid struggle. She later lived in exile in the United Kingdom after years of activism in South Africa and Tanzania. Former journalist and Author of "Women in Solitary - Inside the Female Resistance to Apartheid", Shantini Naidoo, says Shanthie's legacy of ethical and moral behaviour needs to be remembered...
