Joe Schaeffers, former resident and avid storyteller, sits down with Leigh-Anne Williams to recount his fondest memories of growing up in the vibrant suburb of District Six up until the implementation of The Group Areas Act in 1960 where the residents were forcefully removed. The area, along with its unique culture, was destroyed. He shares more about his activism work in helping people from all walks of life understand what happened and how we can ensure it never happens again.
