Topic:
Bridging the Gap: Making Quality Rehabilitation Accessible to All.
Intro:
South Africa has a major gap in access to rehabilitation. Enable Initiative, the nonprofit arm of Enable Centre, is working to make multidisciplinary rehabilitation more accessible through its Equal Access Programmed, subsidized therapy, community outreach clinics and support groups.
For many people with disabilities, access to quality rehabilitation can be limited by financial circumstances, an overburdened healthcare system, a shortage of rehabilitation professionals, and challenges accessing follow-up care within their communities.
In this edition of Disability 360, we explore why rehabilitation is essential healthcare, the barriers people with disabilities face, and how Enable Initiative is working to make rehabilitation more accessible.
