Morry Frenkel speaks with Moshe Denburg, founder and band leader of Tzimmes, a Vancouver-based Jewish world-music ensemble whose music includes songs in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, and English. Moshe talks about the influences on his musical development, including his parents - modern Orthodox Rabbi Chaim Denburg, and singer Miriam Ben-Ezra - and living and studying in the USA, Israel, India and Japan. Moshe describes the 2-disc CD, The Road Never Travelled, with one disc featuring original and interpretations of liturgical songs, with the other having a mix of Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and English tracks. Moshe also discusses his founding in 2001 of the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra, one of the first concert orchestras in the world devoted specifically to performing new intercultural music on a grand scale.
