Matt, Ryan, Drew and Shannon are on the road at the Mint Gaming Hall in Bowling Green
Quarterback is out number two tell You Sports Radio at the Mint Gaming Hall drip by DraftKings opening of the sports book today. It will open officially in one hour and then you'll be able to bet to bet games here through Draft Kings. First game is tonight, Bill's and Dolphins. We uh for those of you at students at cast Bar, thirty percent off Shannon if you show a student ID on drinks and alcohol tonight. The reason being I offered that last week and we couldn't get the button to work for the alcohol, so we only did it on food. So I feel like i have to be a man of my word. So I'm doing the thirty percent off the alcohol tonight with a student ID. And I'll even go so far as to say, Shannon, We'll take it even if it's an ID from when you were in school.
Oh really. So if I had my old Beller Men and Ryan Lindsay Wilson's.
Student ID, yeah, and you showed it, I'll go ahead.
And take thirty percent off your drinks. Pay for it tonight.
Slow down. No other bar in America is doing that deal.
But here's the thing. If you do that, I'm allowed to take a picture of your ID and do one of those things where we go, what's the TikTok? I got guns over my head and they show you when you're in high school and then they show you. Now, yeah, I get to do that if you try to use an old one and I'm gonna be there and I'm going by I'm gonna be there tonight and I'm gonna do that.
For thirty I feel like that's a fair trade.
Yeah, I mean that's gonna be This gonna be a good price tonight. So Bill's and Dolphins this evening, since we're at Draft Kings, let's do our Draft Kings UH pick of the Day DraftKings going to use a promo code KSR bet five, get two fifty and free bonus bets.
Uh.
Bill's Dolphins. Dolphins a two and a half point favorite at home.
Who you got you?
I'm going with the Bills.
I think taking the Bills. Yes, all right, what about you? I'm going Bills. Too.
Too much drama with the Dolphins this week? What's the drama with the Tyreek heel stuff? And that happened before the last game, but it's like it's all the all the media talking about it and bringing it up in every interview they're talking about it.
All right, So you're taking bills, yep, all right, really expecting a good game here. That two and a half is pushing me to take the Dolphins win by field goal. All right, I'll take Miami.
I'm gonna take I got a Bill sweatshirt on. I'm gonna go with you all. Take the Bills.
So go to DraftKings.
Set it up, and then when we go to green we go to Green Bay later this week. I'll tell you about another thing they're doing as well. I'm twenty two eighty seven. Let me ask you a question before we get to the phones. London, Kentucky high school football games being canceled all over the region on Friday night.
School still out, Yeah, most people have been out of school all week long. We talked about this last night. How long?
I mean how how if you were in charge of the school district of Laurel County or living Stone or the places that are right there, would you, well, let's start with this, would you cancel the football.
Game Friday night? I probably would.
I wouldn't want to be the guy that didn't cancel it and then tragically something happens. I just don't know if I would want to take that risk reschedule the game for a later date.
Channon, would you know I'm kind of with Ryan.
I mean, I understand that you know at some point you have to move on, but you also don't want to be the reason that more people get killed if that guy is, you know, by some chance, still running loose out there.
Drew, Yeah, I think you have to be extra cautious here. I'd cancel it too. I don't know the team schedules, but hopefully they can find a place later in the year to get it done.
I just don't know. I mean, how long are you gonna go?
Like, you know, there's a very good chance this will not be resolved next week, right, I mean, I hope it is.
But every day.
I mean, if you've ever watched dramas, if they don't catch him in the first forty eight hours, right, it becomes very very difficult to catch him. And you may eventually, but it becomes very difficult to catch him. I I don't know how long you like, I mean, are you gonna have school next week? Are you gonna have school a week after that? At some point, don't you have to I mean, don't.
Know what you have to move on. I mean, you can't do this forever.
I wonder what we're just discussing it. Do they think that maybe he's still in the area and that's why they're going this route.
And if they do, I get it. And I'm not even saying I disagree with the decision. They know more about it than I do, so I don't want to like I'm not trying to say.
I'll give you a perfect example.
You know, yesterday we talked about Fayette County School Board going off of Twitter, and I said, well, I don't know about that. Then I had somebody reach out to me and say, well, let me explain the decision. We don't have that many people who follow us on Twitter, and what has been happening is every time we post something, the comments section is full of like explicit things, and there's nothing we can do about that. And we don't want students getting on there to try to see the updates and then having to see all that.
So they're like, with not many people.
On it, it doesn't really make sense to make it to where we set this up and students have to look at it and then they see all this stuff. Well, whether you agree or disagree with that, that makes some sense to me, Ryan, Right, you know you can see why somebody would make that decision.
Yeah, I heard the same thing. And there's a lot of pornographic stuff is being posted on their on their site, so that's parents, kids, everybody seeing all.
Apparently spambots And this is like why Twitter's falling apart. Spambots are targeting school accounts, wow to put the to put the stuff under it, and and you know Twitter musk and that they have, they're not stopping it. So it's like, I can see why they say that. So back to the London situation, you could see why. You know, there may be something Drew, I don't know, but at some point you do have to move forward or you can't. Just everybody just can't stay in their house forever.
Right, I agree, we just just being the first high school Friday, I get doing it this one time, to be cautious. I would bring it back next week, hopefully it's resolved by next week.
But I agree, you can't do this forever. I just think being the first one understand why they're leaning on the cautious sun.
And probably I could also again try to make the other case, I could see them saying, this person clearly.
Wanted to do destruction in large numbers.
If you're in eastern Kentucky, the one place where they're gonna be the most people in one place at the same time is a football game.
Maybe that's part of it too. Yeah.
I remember after nine to eleven they canceled all NFL, all Major League Baseball, all major sporting events for that fear.
But it was also important after nine to eleven that the Yankees played, and that George W. Bush walked out there and threw that pitch and said, you're not gonna change our way of life.
I do think that matters.
It's a fine line to walk, and I'm glad that I'm not the one making that decision.
Yeah. No, you're right, because it would hit.
It'd be a huge burden if you said to have it and then something happened that way on you for the rest of your life, you know.
So tough decision. Who's up next? Is up next? Darren? Go ahead, Darren, Hay Matt, this is a Darren calling first down caller. Who A.
Yeah, and I just want to switch gears and talk about Kentucky basketball.
A little bit. All right, I don't want to talk about I wish nothing but for Mark copean than Kentuckian Wildcats. But there will never I mean, lord, okay, fake call? Who's next? Who You're next?
I knew it was a fake call from the moment he said hello, and then the more you went, I knew it was more fake call. More man, I will tell you this, if you go do a fake call, you can't use a voice like that I gave you only because we were in public? Did I give you about three seconds more than I would have? That was a fake call, and I could tell who's up the Boston Austin, go ahead, Austin.
All right?
Oddly enough, I actually have a Kentucky basketball question as well.
But I'm all there sounds good.
I'm having a hard time putting my expectations into a regular season context. I know we've talked a bunch about what the season being successful would look like Elite eight, final four to sixteen, but just regular season? Should we you know, Kentucky basketball, we always expect the best, But should we expect my team coming around twenty times eight nine losses?
Something like that? No idea, I have no idea.
With basketball, and I appreciate the call, Drew. I have absolutely no idea what to expect. When I walked in here, I had a guy stop me and say, what do you think the basketball team's record is gonna be?
And I have no idea.
You could tell me this team will be twenty six and five or twenty five and six and contend to win the SEC and be a two seed in the tournament. I go, okay, I can see that. You could tell me they'll win, They'll lose ten games, there'll be a sixth seed in the tournament.
And that wouldn't shot me either.
I it would shot me if they missed the tournament. But like Drew, I have no idea what to expect.
With this team, and nobody does. It's so new.
It's a new system, new coach. Every player on the team is new. I do think with so much experience and depth, they have a pretty hot floor. They gotta make the tournament. I think it's an absolute disaster they don't make the tournament. There's enough talent to be good. Just how good? Really have no clue. They could be six in the SEC, or they could be up there fighting with Alabama.
Yeah, I mean do you feel Ryan confident in making any prediction about the basketball team one way or the other, no.
Matter of fact.
I say, ask me in December, ask me if they played Gonzaga. You know, I think that Duke game, we gotta just write it off. I'm not even.
Right.
I'm gonna just wait and look. Maybe how do they do that game? Clipson's a road I mean, I'll think we'll find out what kind of team they really happen.
It could be really good and go to Gonzagon loose like he could be a really good team and go I mean, Duke, see, I'll tell you for me, Shannon, I just I want to see how we do, like against Louisville yep, a team we're probably better than playing at home, but they're better than they've usually been. I think it's gonna be hard with Duke, Gonzaga, and Clemson because Gonzagon Clemson are true road games. Duke's probably one of the top two or three teams in the country. I just don't know that we're gonna know. Maybe maybe Ohio State up in New York is a good is a good barometer.
I don't know.
If I had to guess, I would say this team is gonna pull off some wins that we didn't expect. Yeah, I think they're probably gonna drop some games on the road in the SEC that we don't expect. And I feel like twenty wins is a reasonable expectation for the fan base. If you can get the twenty wins or in the tournament, then at that point anything can happen.
Do you think we'll have any loss this year that's embarrassing?
Allah? You n c Wilmington South Carolina at home that year? Do you think we'll have any loss like that? No?
I think Pope will take care of business and beat those teams.
What about you? Right?
Definitely not a non conference embarrassing loss, I don't think so that's not gonna happen.
Yeah, I agree, That's what I'm saying. With the hot floor these guys have, They're half the team is a super senior. They've played a lot of good basketball. You got a guy who's hit a buzzer beater in the final four. A lot of those losses. You know, we talked it up to being freshmen. I think that excuse is gone. These guys are much farther along now. How what their ceiling is is a little different, but they shouldn't be good enough to win all the non conference games.
And I'm with you on Duke. I'm not chalking up the Duke game as a loss. They're gonna be really young, We're gonna be really old. In years past, we've lost because our rosters have looked like theirs and we go, well, it's the first or second game of the year.
You know, we're experienced.
Like they may not have played together, but they this group is gonna have played a lot of basketball. In this group we're gonna put we might be putting a team on the floor right I don't know what the statistics are, but I think there's a decent chance we're gonna put a line lineups on the floor that have played the most games in college of a team we've had at Kentucky in.
Twenty years, which is crazy. We used to have the youngest team. Now we're gonna have one of the oldest teams we've ever had.
I mean, we've got fifty year guys. We've got guys who started for four years.
We have a point guard who played in the National Championship game, right like was the starting point guard in a hit A shot to send a team to the national championship game, Drew, We got so many guys, Like now, are any of them great?
I don't know, but they all should be pretty good, you know.
Yeah, they're one and Done's as good as they were those early games. It's their first time on national TV playing college basketball.
They look up and it's Duke.
Andrew Carr has played Duke several times. Kirk Crease has played Duke Lamon, Butler played you on in the National champ These guys who played meaningful basketball games, they're not gonna be overwhelmed by the atmosphere.
Let me think about it. We have no sophomores, right, no sophomores. Of nine juniors or seniors. Nine juniors or seniors. And of our three freshmen, two of them are from Kentucky, and one of them went on a two year Mormon mission. And he's like almost twenty one years old, even though he's a freshman, he's twenty. So I mean, this is a team, Shannon, that shouldn't be.
Rattled over in the year.
Yeah, I mean, I look back at a team like Baylor just a few years ago that won the national title with a bunch of transfers.
Did they have like one big superstar.
And one but it could be like Jackson Robins.
Okay, so maybe he's our guy on this team.
So I think having a good mix with your roster build up is a good thing.
So I think that, you know, you got to take that as a positive.
Robinson beat Kansas last year with pope. They're not afraid of these big games that the freshmen kind of caught him off guard earlier the season.
Another good point.
These dudes may not have played in a school like Kentucky, but these dudes have all played in tough environments. You know, he's exactly right. Jackson Robinson went into Allen Field House last year and beat Kansas on the road, and he had like twenty points in that game.
He's not gonna be scared of Duke in that first game. You can experience.
Your best happy self with Cornbreadhimp's new blueberry shit.
Yeah wow, I really like blueberry to you. I haven't heard about this yet.
Blueberry cornbread Himp full spectrum flower only hemp CBD, completely.
Legal, care free without the hangover.
Didn't even know you could have a hangover, but not with Cornbredthim dot com cornbredamp thirty percent off of us A code KSR with cornbreadhimp.
We'll take a break and be right back here at the Mint in Bowling Green. It's Kentucky Sports Radio, Quarterback.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here in Bowling Green. Absolutely great crowd, awesome crowd here at the DraftKings Sports Book at the Mint. Thank you all very much for it's been awesome to have you, and we still got some more time. Got a dude getting breakfast. That breakfast looked good. Was that good breakfast in there?
He killed it?
It looked very very good.
I can I now know what I can eat when I come into uh to Bowling Green. That in one of your seven hundred restaurants that you have here at KY Sports Radio. Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. By the way, I heard this on the pre show and now on this one. The phone lines eight five nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. Not a ton of calls. I hope that's not a sign, Shannon for what ends up happening Saturday.
There's a part.
I hope people have not turned the page on football, and I'm a little concerned some people may.
It's it's week three, it's still early.
There's a lot of football to play, no reason to be so, you know, checked out at this point of the season.
One person rights, Matt, do I get a Shannon debate scorecard?
I waited for it yesterday and he never did it. I forgot. That's not Shannon's fault, that's my fault.
I was ready to go with it.
I forgot. I'll tell you what, we'll do it. Would you rather do it today?
Today's probably a better situation than tomorrow, So we'll do it.
Whatever, We'll do whatever. You just tell me.
Yeah, I want to hear it. Okay, did you because you're the only person that watched all of them?
I watched just about every bit of it. It was, uh, it was. It was fiery.
I'll say that, like both sides. You could tell she really got under his skin. That kind of threw him off his game a little bit. Oh yeah, And I think that was the strategy from the beginning.
That was smart. Yeah, I hate it.
Even then he came all right, so let's do Survivor League. Most of the people have put their picks in for the Survivor League.
Shannon, you and I are out yeah, we both picked the Bengals. Snatty stupid Bengals decided to lose, so we are out.
I've gotten the picks from almost everyone else in the league, and they're spread out amongst a bunch of teams. Uh, where's Mario, Mario, you need to come on here and be able to pick.
Here take my mic, since I don't know how to pick people.
Mario, come on over, Ryan, and I will let you go first. Who is going to be your pick?
It is a kind of a weird week.
A lot of the good teams are playing each other, and a lot of the bad teams are playing each other. So I tried to find a good team at home against a bad team. So I'm going with the Ravens over the Raiders.
All right.
I like I like how you enunciated like that. I could not figure out Ravens over right. Rast that looks to be the most popular pick in the league so far, Billy, I'll let you go.
What do you got?
Yeah, I'd like to use the Ravens later in the year, so I'm not gonna take the popular pick.
I'm gonna take the Chargers on the road against the Panthers.
Chargers on the road. It's a road team that's dangerous. I live dangerously the Panthers. Do you live dangerously? Really? He was last night?
Wait a minute, Oh you did live dangerously last night?
Oh I did?
Oh yeah, called Mario a lightweight. So Billy is now advanced up the partying latter Billy want.
Here's why Billy wants Mario here. Billy wants someone on the food chain he can pick off. He's been getting picked on for you.
I've been the youngest for a while, and now he.
Wants to be the one to pick on. Mario said, I know what you're doing there, but that's all right. So you got the charge. All right, Drew, what about you?
I Am going to take America's team, the Dallas Cowboys.
They host the Saints.
Uh.
The Cowboys will definitely fizzle out at the end of the year, so I'm gonna go and get him.
Wha, it's week two and they can still win games. Wow, that's it.
I think you're the first person that's picked the Cowboys in the league. All Right, all right, Mario, nice to have you on.
Mario.
It's you've become like the most popular person on this show. Like everywhere we go.
I don't thank you. I don't know how that happened.
But like everywhere we go, people are taking pictures with you like it's and let me just say, what we got set up for you this week?
I don't even think you know what's about to happen. Well, what's gonna happen.
Not only are you going to Green Bay for the Packers game, we are going to have dinner at the head of the ESPN Radio's house. They not only have you to where you can come into the house, they got you well, I mean, he's not part of ESPN and they're still being They got us a hotel room. I assume they got one hotel room for me and you to share in Milwaukee. No, they got what I've heard is the nicest hotel in Milwaukee. ESPN paid for you to have your own room.
That's how you do it nice, that's how you do it right on. Mario had his own room last night. We never have our own room. He's gonna ever. We went from you and I were gonna you.
And I were gonna be staying in the Loch Kinta Inn in Oshkosh in a shared room to now the nicest hotel in Milwaukee. You get your own room and I get my own room. I can't believe that's happening. I'm not complaining.
And here's the last thing ESPN said.
I'll find out today they might have you a credential for the Packers get which is insane. Now, if they don't, we're just getting in the car and coming.
Back, just so you know. But if they do, I can't tell you. You can't do it. So can you believe this track? Actually can't believe. I'm excited now. I want to go now, can you or leaving it right after the show? It comes tomorrow? Right? What's your pick? I'm going with the Chargers. I had the Chargers last week. You can't have the Chargers two weeks. That's right. That's a big rule. It's actually the only rule. Who else is playing? Remember there are thirty one other teams playing.
I remember with Dallas what you just say, you if you're not prepared for them, not prepared?
Okay, I'm not prepared. I'll do it. I'll take a call and then I'll come back to you.
I like how you tried to pick the exact same team you picked last week.
Literally, the only rule in the league what's next?
Lucky is up next?
Lucky go ahead? Lucky? Hey, thanks, thank card. Guys.
I know it's a long shot, but what would the frenzy of the fans, reactionscations be like if we were to upset Duke, they.
Would go high.
But I think if we upset Duke this this fan base Drew will go insane in a positive way, and we will see an energy around the program that's as big as we've had in a long time.
Wouldn't you agree? Oh? I agree. It would be a great way to start the season.
But I got admit, I feel like so many people are just calling that a loss and we're not that far behind Duke. Cooper Flag's very good. But I think Kentucky's gonna be in that game. I'm expecting them to win it. It seems like a lot of the energy today is that they just have no chance in that.
Yeah, I think we can win.
I Cooper flags amazing. Cooper Flag's great. By the end of the year, Duke's gonna be great. But in that game, I don't think there's any reason we can't beat him. It's we are not some group of chumps next year in basketball, we are a top fifteen preseason team, and I hope people realize that.
What's your pick? Mario? I got the Ravens. Ravens.
Okay, so Ryan and Mario are on the Ravens. Billy the Chargers drew the Cowboys, and Shannon and I are already out of a league that I created and now I don't even get to play it. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. We're gonna take a break. We are hearing bowling green at the Mint. Take your calls, Cats in Georgia's Saturday. This is Kentucky Sports Radio, wuarterback Tucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, there are people telling me here drew Uh the hotel in Milwaukee, which they guessed, I guess there must not be that many really nice hotels in Milwaukee. UH is haunted. Oh no, I'm jealous. Now we've stayed this group stayed in a haunted hotel before Homa City, Homa City, and they became they became convinced that what somebody grabbed a bottle or something.
That wine that was turned upside down. That was not turned upside down when we came by earlier, which was of course, couldn't have been anybody else.
Shannon and I slept the whole night with the lights on.
Like they're not kidding. They slept with the lights on because they were that nervous about it.
So I just want to know how when we go on the road we get stay in bunk beds in a kids room, or we get a couch out in the living room. You and Mario get these nice sweets at a five star hotel.
Because ESPN's pain. That's the difference they're having, Like this is like a big event. They're bringing all their NFL people and all their college people together, and so that's why it's it's not just for us.
I think we're just jealous. We feel like you have a new favorite and the golden foil here?
Is it true? Bed? When last night? Yeah? What is he gonna fly to Seattle? We're gonna drive.
Yeah, we'll meet you there.
Yeah, well, you know everybody's everybody likes him. What are we gonna do?
Give me the princess bed?
Oh twenty two eighty seven? What person rides Matt? I'm excited about our basketball team. But what really makes me sad is NFL Twitter is going crazy about how great Liam Cohen did at the Bucks game. That bothers me. Yeah, I don't know if you all have seen, Like it's kind of become the thing on Twitter for the NFL sort of dorks. They're all like, Liam Cohen's offense and Tampa Bay is unbelievable, and they show how he got guys open in Baker Mayfield and it's just Ryan, It's just like, are you kidding me? As soon as he leaves here, he's crushing it, and Shannon Dawson he's crushing it with Miami, and you know, it's like, are yeah, are you kidding me?
I saw the Liam Cohen clatter so clatter clutter, Yeah, But I don't know what he could have done last week with our offensive line. I mean, why I don't put anything on our offense or Brock Vandergrift because the line could not give him time to do absolutely anything at all.
But doesn't it frustrate you a little bit, like.
At some point it's not always the offensive coordinator.
You know, at some point we.
I think we're at that point, you know, you you have six straight girlfriends that you say are crazy.
At some point, it's on you, you know, at some point, like it's not them, it's you.
And there's a part of me we've been kind of clamoring for an offense.
Maybe it's not just the coordinate.
Yeah, and these these crazy girlfriends go find new love and really enjoying their relationship.
They're thriving, doing great. You're crazy girl.
Your crazy girlfriend goes and marries Brad Pitt. Maybe it's on you, Like at.
Some point, I don't know if Baker Mayfield Tampa's quite Brad Pitt, but you're right there. That's one of the big takeaways from that first weekend. There's a video it says like an all capsule Liam Cohen was cooking or something.
It's like, I don't want to watch that. I don't want to watch him cook.
He's moved on from us, but it does sting knowing that these guys are finding success. He's from a great coaching tree that throws it around. It's not crazy to think he wasn't allowed to do that.
I've not Matt Bush hammed it, but I will say this, I didn't really ever get to talk to Scangerella except once. But I'm a big believer that if you're smart, you have a really good chance of success in anything you do. Liam Cohen was really smart, Neil Brown was really smart. Skangerello, I think was really smart. I'm not sure if Shannon Dawson was really smart. I hear Bush Hamden is really smart. Like at some point you're gonna bring in all these smart guys, Shannon, you gotta let them do their things, right, You gotta let them do their thing.
And I just wonder.
I think that's a lot of fans questioned, is how handcuffed are these offensive coordinators when they come in, Because, like you said, they thrive everywhere else, Why isn't it working here. There's gotta be an explanation for that. And I think that maybe Stoops isn't just allowing them to be themselves.
What worries me is if you go back, if you heard the halftime interview on radio with Stoops. As he's walking off the field for the halftime interview, he says, I'm really not happy with these offensive play calls. It's week two, you got a new offensive coordinator. I know there were a couple of mistakes, but I tell you what, I don't know what worked in the first half, but I know what didn't work in the second half, which was everything. So on some level, you gotta look at the person who might be putting on the handcuffs.
Who's up next, David is up next, David, go ahead, David.
Yeah, Hey, guys.
Regarding the upcoming basketball really the tenure of Mark Cope, I am most excited about the ball movement that I'm anticipating. Yeah, and even so even more so the off ball movement. There were times, and I appreciate.
What Kal did for us very.
Much, but there were times when I would stream with the televisions.
Because we would have guys like.
Killing Brady Goes stand in your corner and we would have one guy fibbling and Davy.
Two guys movie, and we rarely had stupid four or five guys movie. And I coached a difference for what I coached soccer for too many years, and if my players didn't move unselfishly off the ball.
To make things, to create spaces where they left.
Then I tould him off the field, because you have to be doing something.
You can't just stand there.
But I don't think that's the player's fault. I think they were told to go stand in the corner.
I mean, I agree, that's my point. That's my point. I think Mark Pope's motion offense is going to create more havoc for the defenses. And even if our players aren't five stars.
I think it's gonna make them look more like five stars.
Appreciate the call, Drew. Let me ask you he mentioned Kellen Grady. Let's think of some cow players that if they had played for Pope might have ended up being a lot better. I mean, look, they're definitely guys that would be better fits for Cal than Pope. Like a dude like Dearn Fox was definitely a cow guy. But let's think about dudes who might have been better Pope guys than Cal. Kelly Grady is one of the first one that comes to my mind. Kellen Grady on a Pope team probably is an absolute star, whereas he was like kind of good with with Cal.
Can you think of others, uh really, any of the shooters that just didn't get much time on the court. Juwsang I was about to say juws Aang, my guy, Michael Molder, even Jamal Baker, I mean, you get those guys a lot younger, but those are pure shooters who just needed more looks and to play through it. Where we all know Cal was pretty quick to pull him out if their first shot.
Johnny Jose who's in the NBA, Yeah, and couldn't get on the floor at Kentucky. He's one Ryan that I feel like would have been a different player under under Capope.
And he's like most of the names we're going we're coming up with have ben just in the last four or five years. I mean, even Davion Mince I think would probably thrive better in a Pope system than with Cal.
Maybe even scow oh Cal like oh back to the basket.
Nate Cestinae, Nate sestina I mean, we saw how good he was this summer in the in the TV.
Trying to think of some of the other transfers that you know thrived at other schools.
Kwade Green comes to mind as well.
Look at Olivier Saw Olivier Sar has found a five or six year career.
He's not a star, but he has a role.
And honestly, on that team, he looked awful on that team, and I wonder how much of.
It was the way he was used. I have my number one answer. Okay, big Z, the way.
He passes and shoots threes, he absolutely should have stayed with Mark Pope. I get why he left cal brought him to America, got him the opportunity in college basketball.
I get it. But big Z was made for.
Pope's He he won't be shooting any threes this year. We already heard, well, here's this will be.
Let me ask you this.
What if you get Cow down in Arkansas and he plays the way we always wish he had played here in the last few years.
I think there's gonna be a little bit where he changes because he feels more comfortable changing there. He doesn't want to do it here where the Bennies were yelling at him.
That'll that will frustrate me.
If he goes out there and he plays the style that everybody was talking about him playing here down there, and if he does, I think Drew's right, it'll be out of stubbornness. Yep, that will drive me absolutely insane. Right, I'm not gonna lie to you.
Yeah, he lets Z get out there on the perimeter. He plays three guards, three shooters out there. That's what we wanted all year, those four guys that for the rotation never saw it.
But here's the reality.
He's not gonna do that because he's he once again went and got a bunch of big dudes and he's gonna play them all together, and they're going to struggle because of that.
That's my guess for Arkansas. I'm sure Chen will draw something up have him looking real.
Good, Drew Franklin versus Chen Coleman. But I'll tell you when they come to town, keep chinning away from Drew.
I don't think Chin would like to see who's up next? Charles is up next? Charles go ahead, Charles Hey.
Darren got one basketball point and one football point in basketball. Actually met coach call Out in the parking lot of the Moro Coliseum last year, and I just asked him. I said, why don't you put in the Kentucky leave and have emotional offense?
And he said he would be too complicated.
And I wonder now if it was too complicated for the players.
Y're too complicated for him to teach. But anyway, here's my football suggestion.
If any of you all have connections to the Catholic Church, we need someone to.
Performing our boys.
Okay, good, we need to perform an exorcism at Commonwealth Stadium.
I appreciate Charles, first of all. I like you, Charles.
I've do you really go up to Cal in a parking lot and tell him what he should what kind of plays he runs?
No, No, that there are people who would do that. Oh, yes, he's one.
Of those students who would do that.

It's now time.
He hadn't done it in a while, probably since I don't know Iowa, since the Iowa Caucuses back in twenty twenty. It's time for Shannon the Dude's debate scorecard, right, Thank.
You very much, Matt.
You know I just want to say, first of all, I feel like we're a nation divide it when it comes to politics. This is designed to bring all of us together by pissing off both sides equally.
So I want to start with can we use that word?
Yeah, we can't, Okay, I want to start with the awkward handshake the start.
I'm going plus two.
That's one for each, so plus one for both sides with the awkward hand shape.
All right, We'll start with Trump.
He got a debate haircut and nice job with the makeup, so.
I'm going plus two. You really like the makeup, Like the makeup good. He wore an American flag a pen. Plus one.
You're big on that.
I want to see how patriotic you are. If you know how the AMA can flag pen, You're not You're not a patriot, he said. During the pandemic, he was able to provide things that no one would ever imagine, like masking gowns.
Plus two.
Hey, all right, plus two.
Now, According to Harris, Trump sold American chips to China. I mean, I don't know what kind of chips they were, so I'm going minus three. I didn't know, like Dorrito's friss, Like what are we talking about, No, you can't have our doritos. Trump says, the emmigrants are eating our dogs and cats. Minus two for each species, one for each species.
Wait a minute, you don't want because he said it, or because you don't want people to eat dogs and cats.
Because I don't want people to eat dogs and cats.
And I think he's also wrong by saying that's so that's why I'm deducting two point that's right.
He uh.
He also didn't answer like any of the questions which he had. I think at least five direct questions that were not answered at all, So I'm going minus five there. He also seemed to get angry and angrier as the debate went on. Minus one and then finally for Trump.
Uh.
Trump said that she doesn't have a plan other than the one that she copied off Biden. He said, that's basically a four sentence plan, run, spot run, which I don't even know what that means. That's I will point out, that's not even four sentences, that's three words. So minus three for a total score of minus eight for trumpetitions.
All right, I think, and I would did anyone get a positive score?
I don't think anybody did okay, all right, Kamala Harris. She also wore the American flag pen plus one, all right here and makeup on point plus two. According to Trump, she and Biden had the highest inflation, inflation like no one has ever seen before.
People can't go out and buy bacon, eggs, or cereal. Now, minus three for each one of those.
Now, you know, he should have sent a lot more.
Hey.
Now, at one point her microphone was the sposed to be muted, but she talked over Trump during his time and she was shushed. You know, she got shushed. That's okay, minus one for unsports woman like conduct.
All right.
Uh.
She says she has.
Plans for this and that and that and this, but then she's had almost four years to do those things and she hasn't done any of them.
I'm going minus four for that.
I don't know.
Ford just felt like a good number.
How many years?
That's there?
You going? Now you're in my mind. I'm starting to figure out she is.
Not going to ban fracking, which I like, So plus two.
Man, hang on, you like, what's what do you know about fracking?
Let's move on.
She had you heard of fracking? Yes, okay, good.
I may have done it a few times.
She's going, I don't think that's what you think.
She's going to give six thousand dollars to everyone who has a kid, So, in other words, she's incentivizing even more fracking plus two for a total score of zero. Kamala Harris wins at zero to negative.
First of all, well done, thank you. You're getting booed. That's okay. Hey, all right, hey listen, I boot, I boot John Higgins. Just be careful.
You don't want to get sued when it ends up when it ends up having me well Shannon, Well, well, I don't know if there's going to be another debate, so that one may have to be.
Yah.
One sounds like it's one and done this year.
Yeah, it sounds like it. Would you want another one if.
They could have.
Yeah, let's do another scorecard?
All right? Who's up next? Don? Is up next? Don? Go ahead? Done?
Yeah. I just wanted to say, thanks for taking my call.
I'm in Maryland.
A great scorecard, thank you. I want the best at it.
I'm looking for the forward to the basketball season. I wanted to kind of make a quick observation about players that are much better on their team because they have a particular teammate. My example would be Read because he had Rob on his team and he learned some of those tips and tricks that Rob did to get to the basket and do some of his moves. I think he improved a lot because.
He was pretty good at getting in the back. I mean, Read and Rob are very different players. So I yeah, I would say help.
Red being great, and I knew he'd be good, but him being great was one of the more pleasant surprises I can remember in basketball.
I knew he was gonna be good, but if.
You had told me he was gonna be the number three pick in the draft, I would have never believed it. And you got to give that kid a ton of credit, whether it's Cal, Rob, Reed, Jeff Stacey, whatever, that was one of the more pleasant surprises for me as a player of all time.
Yeah, he was a great shooter and in great floor general, I just, and great defensively. I just I just think it helped him a little bit and pick up a piece or two of the drops game.
And I think it would have helped him a lot more if they if they had actually let him play with Rob a little bit more.
But I appreciate the call. I wish we had seen more of that.
I like that exercise of players that helped others, Like, we don't have Anthony Davis without Deron Lamb making him the player he became.
There's not a bigger Doron Lamb fan on this planet. We don't have the title without Deron Lamb.
I mean part of it is because getting you ended up getting Doron Lamb's used mattress, which I do think is part of why you feel such a connection.
Chourage everyone if you could get your favorite athletes mattress when they throw it out.
And by the way, I'm not kidding, did get Doron Lamb's used mattress.
And then the least telling Goodwill got it after me.
Keeps on giving.
It's out there with someone.
Else right now, Duran Gay, he had a lot that kept on giving. That's exactly right.
