California Voters Reject Billionaire Tax and Voter ID, Back Housing Funding and Schools

The blue wave in last night’s election just seemed to get DEEPER BLUE when it reached the Golden State, something echoed in the victory speech by California’s governor elect Xavier Becerra.

California saw at least three House seats flip, including one in the North Bay, where Democrat Mike McGuire defeated Republican Congressman James Gallagher. And Proposition 40, the one-time wealth tax targeted at the state’s billionaires, looks headed for defeat.

Becerra Sails to Victory as Billionaire Tax Prop 40 Heads Toward Defeat

Deep blue California is mirroring the national blue wave as Democrats made major strides around the country in last night’s midterm election. Likely will be joining this new Democratic majority in Congress from here in the Bay Area is Scott Wiener. Still a lot of votes to count, but he appears headed for victory to succeed Nancy Pelosi representing San Francisco in the House.
