Newsom’s Prediction Markets Ban

Event organizers for Saturday's protests estimate more than 8 million people attended to protest policies imposed by US President Donald Trump, and things like the Iran war, immigration enforcement and the rising cost of living. Locally, protestor gathered near Fresno Riverpark where one sign stood out, uniting everyone from all sides. 

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order banning state officials and appointees from using insider information to bet on prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi. The order, which takes effect immediately, expands existing ethics rules to block officials from profiting, or helping family members profit, from nonpublic government information.

No Charges For Clovis Man 

Dashcam footage shows ICE agents in Stanislaus County conducting a vehicle stop when the suspect’s SUV abruptly reversed and surged forward toward an agent — prompting the officers to open fire in self-defense. Federal authorities, including the FBI, have launched an investigation as local residents express shock and concern over the use of lethal force in their community. 

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said it won’t file charges against a man whom the Clovis Police Department alleged helped organize Clovis Unified students’ anti-ICE walkout. After nearly two months of investigation, the Clovis Police Department announced Tuesday morning that they had submitted a misdemeanor charge against Aldrete, for allegedly “contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”

Citrini’s field report challenges the narrative of a closed strait, with markets reacting as traders reassess oil supply risks.
