Another Government Shutdown, Measure C Push Back & Holiday Shopping

Senators in both parties are bracing for another government shutdown next year after Republicans blocked a proposal to extend expiring health insurance subsidies, the issue that triggered the 43-day closure that consumed much of the fall calendar.

Three months behind schedule and absorbing several bumps along the way, a Measure C advisory group finished its work Thursday. The group, which started meeting in April, was tasked with shaping the plan for Fresno County’s $7 billion transportation sales tax renewal.
