Blog—January 27, 2025-10-11-It’s YOUR Agri Business
We set the stage for the swear-in of LT Governor Larry Rhoden who took the oath of office to fill out the term from Kristi Noem---given a slot in the President’s team. What does a South Dakotan—understand about Border situations? She is learning and is the trusted designee. We featured our long time friend and Pierre point-man Casey Crabtree as what to expect with the 11:00AM swear in---and what else we should know.
Mr. Crabtree helps us as really no-one else can (or probably cares to do) to keep our listeners informed. He did that before the Governor resigned--- to take a spot in the Federal Government.
Our job is to try to ask questions our audience would want to know---and as always---meaningful matters---that are more than just idle conversations. Those we deal with ---know that after having anchored 5,000 TV Shows---worked as an original share holder for Raycom Media ---and coached news directors and talent---that I play professionally and for the interest of the viewers or today—the listeners.
Mr. Crabtree –I hope is comfortable with that---I know good communication and honesty between the media and those office holders has to be a key ingredient.
We talked as well with Darren Hefty-Ag PHD--- he was on a trip with his brother to North Dakota—and we got a lay of the land from the Bison state---and learned as well—what he sees in the days and growing season ahead. Darren traditionally joins us in Friday shows—but this week with him in North Dakota and us doing the Farm Shows here---we needed to catch-up.
Angel Casper—did a update for us on the farm shows over the weekend. Angel is quick to make sure we do follow-ups---and our audience thanks her and so do I.
Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank---shared with the planners---what they do their 9 or so lending facilities--- whether it be those in business, in agriculture, newly married or those older couples---they provide quite the team to understand and help those individual needs be addressed. Yes I’ve worked with Plains Commerce Bank for years---and yes we have other banks we use---but we know we can’t count on Plains to take the time and answer our questions.
From KFGO Fargo—Sarah Heinrich provides the Growing Harvest Network. She is good at what she does—listeners like what she shares---and you can catch her early morning—at 10:30 on my show—or late afternoon. KFGO is a sister station—and we could work more with them—and provide their team info on what we are seeing in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
Good ole Matt Swenson—Swenson Commodities—gives us the mid-morning look at the grain, the meat,, the energy and the big board on Wall Street. We can count on him for this show and other times throughout our broadcast day.
Tyler Tordeson—Metro Alliance---is a frequent guest in our shows. 16 communities have come together to look for common ground—and attract businesses that enjoy working in towns that have made us all proud with what they can do.
Rock Nelson—has the weekly (you guess it) The Rock Report---today it was Marcella and Andy---working together assisting small businesses to determine if a fit for the GSA Schedule and if so, assist them in the process of getting on the Schedule.
GSA refers to the Federal Supply Schedule and Multiple Award Schedule. The two primary places fed employees go to find a listing of vendors that are willing to sell goods and services to the federal government ae Sam.gov.
The advantage of SAM.gov is the speed in which a firm can obtain a listing.
The time to obtain a GSA Schedule contract varies—the average time is 3-6 months.
Two guests to close our show—Mr. Tree –John Ball----and Justin Glisin—Iowa State Climatologist.
Tree was giving us the low-down on the season-the trees—the birds—and what he sees lying ahead. Mr. Iowa----the weather---expectations on the moisture—still below normal---and what he sees for the closing days of January 2025.
