Blog—January 31, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---the last show for January—covered a lot of ground this morning ---we missed having our good friend—the international broadcaster from Baltic on with us—but we did include plenty of headlines as well.

Gerri Eide---FFA of South Dakota with Tia---shared the FFA Day in Rapid City that is Monday---they have the Ag Adventure Zone—SD FFA is highlighting ag in the Rode Zone during the Rodeo Rapid City January 31st thru February 8th. The South Dakota Farmers Union thru the SD FFA Foundation are working together. Teaming up with the FFA to provide hands-on education about South Dakota’s number one industry is important to the future of agriculture in South Dakota.

Karla Hofhenke shares as Executive Director of South Dakota Farmers Union—that the Ag Adventure Zone connects consumers to the work South Dakota’s family farmers, ranchers and other ag professionals do each  and every day to help feed and fuel the nation.

Located in the Ice Arena at the Monument in Rapid City the Ag Adventure Zone will illustrate the diversity of Suth Dakota agriculture, with interactive and educational exhibits on beef, swine, grain, and more from production to processing. SD FFA is hosting FFA on Monday –February 3rd as part of the Rodeo Rapid City.

Darren Hefty—AG PHD—works with us on our Friday shows---he got busy today—but will be back next week.

Casey Crabtree---one of those talented South Dakota Lawmakers works closely with us—he too was in Pierre and you’ll want to listen to what he knew and what he sees ahead. His leadership for not only the members but the media—helps us tell the story and keep our followers informed. Thank you for what you do.

Sarah Heinrich---Growing Harvest Network had the KFGO Morning Material Matters stuff---she’s good at what she does—and even though she has to put up with colder weather—we enjoy working with her.

Matt Swenson shared the morning commodities—the grain, the meat, the energy and the big board on WALL STREET.

We always enjoy our visits with Chrissy Meyer---today it was he American Heart Association’s signature Go Red for Women Experience—raising awareness and critical funds.

More than 400 people are expected today at the American Heart Association’s Sioux Falls event. Guests will wear their favorite red attire and enjoy a live and silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and inspirational survivors speakers during the event hoping to raise $160,000.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in women, claiming more lives than all cancers combined. Nearly 45% of women over age 20 are living with some form of CVD.

We talked with Alla---who has visited with us for nearly 4 years—she came from Ukraine—and then her family followed. Sisters, mom and then dad. Each Friday we talk about the work Ukrainians are doing in South Dakota---and the support they are getting from businesses and more around South Dakota. Of course the concern is still what is happening in the home country---what the Russians are doing---and will the USA---turn and run with a President that seems be far closer to the Russians and the Ukrainians. We’ll continue to watch and help where we can. If you need hard workers---the Ukrainians are getting a fabulous reputation.

Cat Clark---shared that this is the last day for discounted golf passes---then Laura Edwards -State Climatologist talked to us about January –average high 27---average low 8. Snow and moisture levels are down---but while we are closing on the warm side for January---we are expected to start February—with cooler temperatures.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---works to talk about the state’s #1 industry---Agriculture---today we had Governor Rhoden---leading legislators---and those trying to help across South Dakota.
