Blog-April 19, 2024—9-10---It’s YOUR Business
Our It’s Your Business Friday show—carries a familiar team in the 9-10 Hour---

Jodi Schwan---Sioux Falls Business---is as well-known journalist as there is in South Dakota. We talked about what she has covered for the week---and what our audience should know.

So what was on the list today?
Take aways from the Mayor’s State of the City Address
New national RETAIL EXPANDING in Brandon
For Sioux Falls Westside—a new indoor sports center plus more recreation coming
And a few other odds and ends you use listen for on the PODCAST

Jessie Schmidt—BBB of South Dakota---we started with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office—with a “Scam Alert” MCSO has received REPORTS of a scam. The scammer is calling from 605-681-9651—claiming to be Sheriff Mike Milstead—with important legal documents that need your attention.

The Sheriff’s Office wanted us to share that this is a scam—do not call the number and provide any information. If you already have—let the Sheriff’s Office and I’m sure Jessie know what happened—so you can help others.

Coming up tomorrow---the Sioux Empire Crime Stoppers Program is wanting you to be a part of the Touchless Event to rid yourself of trash. It’s an event held every year---and they suggest a $5 per box or bag donation to help benefit Crime Stoppers giving cash rewards to help our law enforcement fight crime, remain anonymous and receive awards.

Locations from 8 to noon Saturday---
West Side---Roosvelt High School at 41st and Sertoma
East Side----Washington High School at 6th and Sycamore
Central Location---Lincoln High School—41st and Cliff
South Location—Sioux Falls Christian Campus –69th and Cliff

BBB advises for your safety and the volunteers—this will be a TOUCHLESS event---please stay in your vehicle and have the items you would like shredded in the BACKSEAT of your vehicle or IN YOUR Trunk.

9:19---we talked with Teri Schmidt---Experience Sioux Falls and Frank Gurnick the with soccer club –he is the Executive of Dakota alliance Soccer Club----about the June event that will bring hundreds of soccer teams to Sioux Falls—the biggest soccer event for Sioux Falls. The hope is that if we do well this June—that we can get the bid for the 2026 year.

We also talked with Kip Rounds—SD Game Fish and Parks----Kip shared there has been some fish stockings—including some Atlantic salmon. In addition the turkey season has been opened---and it gives us all a chance to get licensed—and enjoy the South Dakota Great Outdoors.

Ron Nelson—Nelson Commercial Real Estate—talked about those that are suggesting tough times could be ahead. Ron here’s some of those same reports put out from Omaha----and realizes you can’t always believe what you hear. We talked about re-purposing a building—knowing if it will work---and how Sioux Falls can move along with opportunities—today, tomorrow and beyond. Not all can be re-purposed ---but with what Sioux Falls brings to the table—it takes professionals like Mr. Nelson---to study—look to the past, the present and the future.

Joe Batchellor---gave us a list of events going on this weekend in Downtown Sioux Falls---you can find the list on line---Downtown Sioux Falls---and the list gets bigger and better as we move forward from the winter white to the spring green. The work done in Downtown Sioux Falls—gets even bigger and better---restaurant week----beef or pork events----all stuff we like to let you think about in our Friday 9:00 shows.

We closed the hour with Diana Patterson—Sanford Career Opportunities----this week PATIENT ACCESS---and it’s not just for Sioux Falls—but Sanford locations in other areas.
