Blog-November 5, 2024—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
On this election day---we took advantage of the available topics---questions before the public----and combined two hours encouraging people to vote before the polls close on Tuesday night.
Casey Crabtree –important voice in Pierre was with us----probably from his Madison hometown---right after he voted—and before I was to vote.
We did talk about the amendments which were a part of the first hour ---and what he sees looking ahead. He did share some of the questions constituents had been asking and he clarified some of the questions I posed about the amendments.
Nikki Gronli---State Director of the Rural Development USDA was with us---along with the gentleman (Michael Frey) that keeps the info train rolling to people like me. We talked about the 11 projects for child care they have been working on around South Dakota. Yes there are some matching funds available----and in South Dakota flexible buildings that are new or could be converted are a big deal. We asked her to keep us informed as to what they are doing and where.
Sarah Heinrich---KFGO Fargo—had the Growing Harvest Network---and Matt Swenson the mid-morning Swenson Commodities.
Behind them---quite the pair---Walt Bones—Former SD Ag Secretary---and longtime Parker Friend----and Brent Hoffman---Hartford Lawmaker. They talked about the RL-21 issue. Yes there are dollars involved-----and the two of them those friends don’t see eye-to-eye on the Pipeline Project. My job was to keep them apart from Hartford to Idaho as it turned out---but they discussed the merits and de-merits to some and why it is important in South Dakota.
The two of them discussed that at a Hartford Forum late in October. The Pipeline issue will be discussed over and over again—and I felt special being able to have them on the air talking with us—the day of the November 2024 election.
More to come on this…
Bryson Patterson---SBA talked with us about the panel of veterans he’ll be hosting next week. It gave us a chance to thank the Veterans for their service—and promise to keep a close eye on it—and put our stories out next week as well.
John Ball—Mr. Tree was one of those that Norm Anderson called for me this morning---thinking we are in November---and who knows what was to come. Mr. Ball asked Norm---how does Bill always know when we are about to cut down the Christmas Tree and get it on the air. I’d like to say I’m smart—but approaching nearly 10,000 TV newscasts and radio shows---you just start feeling the next best thing might be a story. Today it was---and the tree was cut down at Mobridge and will be in the State Capital on election day.
We talked about the dry trees he warned us about---and how they pick the tree for the State Capital. As I kind of remembered the trees are nominated---and even though Mr. Tree doesn’t select the tree---he sees to it –it gets cut down properly and sent on his way from Mobridge to Pierre. Who better than see to the state Christmas tree getting a send-off from Mobridge to Pierre and John Ball.
The show closed with Iowa State Climatologist Justin Glisin. Laura Edwards the South Dakota State Climatologist helps as well during the week---and between the two of them---we have a smart crew that keeps us posted---and well informed.
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show (like the Business Show) is available live at 1320-105.1, 107.9, or on-line. Norm Anderson sees to it the show is available as a podcast.
My job is also do the show as a Blog—giving you the notes to outline what is in the show and where.
