Blog-November 8, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Quite the variety of guests in this 10-11—Agri Business Show….Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig joined us---been an interesting week---the elections----lots of talk about what happens now----and with the Republicans going to control both houses and the White House in January---will we finally get a farm bill passed---Secretary Naig will I’m sure talk about the implications for ag and taxes---trade policy—and yes his trade mission with the Iowa Governor to India.

Sounds like we might have a thing or two that is doggone important.

We have been trying to book this interview for a few weeks—and finally one of my favorite Supt of Schools –Jane Stavem will visit with us. She announced that at the end of the 2024-2025---School Year---she will leave our Sioux Falls District. If I remember my history---she had been in Nebraska---was in the Pacific Northwest---and we have been happy to have her with us here.
We’ll talk about what the kids are learning---what she liked about our community---and what we should want from the next Supt of Schools.
Right behind the Supt---is Danita Murray---South Dakota Corn----been awhile since we pulled up at the same table or microphone---what needs done before the next kernels of corn are planted-----what’s it going to take to get a farm bill. That’s just my stuff---what will she want to include?
Sarah Heinrich---KFGO’s Growing Harvest Network gives he Far-go-outlook in Ag. She is good at what she does---and we appreciate being with her in the same Midwest Communication Information Family.
Matt Swenson will have the morning Commodities---the grains—the meat—the energy and the big BOARD on WALL street.
Downtown Sioux Falls has a Hanson to kick around a little bit. But Brandon is a good one—he’s going to share a number of the events---on the doc for this weekend.
Among the things we will learn is where to start the shopping---what the Downtown Sioux Falls Ambassadors are know for—(iconic red shirts that have them working hard to transform the district. They are a key part of making downtown welcoming for everyone, ensuring it’s a beautiful and enjoyable place to celebrate the holidays.
It’s a very busy night in Downtown. Come on down, grab a parking spot in a ramp and stay all night.

Around 10:44—we’ll talk with Alla—our family link to Ukraine and South Dakota. Getting to be more and more concerns in South Dakota---where the push is still on to get Ukrainians into South Dakota. In a recent forum leaders from all over South Dakota were learning why Ukrainians work so well in this state. Now with a shift of power----will Putin’s pull create serious setbacks for those that want to join the hundreds of others that have come here to work. Alla will have some answers…and yes we’ll help them with one of their events in the next week or so.

Laura Edwards—South Dakota State Climatologist---joins us we’ll see where we are headed with the weather------she has provided us with insights—and long term looks at what we can expect. We always enjoy having her with us---and other we have the Iowa State Climatologists Justin Glisin talk with us. Sometimes we get to have them together in the same show.
