For the MOST PART this Friday 9-10 Show has been part of the schedule for a dozen years----some of the voices change---but the intent to inform is our primary purpose.
We start with Jodi Schwan----Sioux Falls Business
Jodi---thanks for choosing Sioux Falls with all your abilities to inform—welcome and make us want more—
Jessie Schmidt---BBB Midwest Plains
I see a BBB Investigation –consumers lost $66,200 to Fraudulent South Dakota Equipment Website with Ties to Transnational Crime
THE INVESTIGATION
BBB received 4 Scam Tracker reports about Digron Machinery Depot. Two victims wired money for equipment and received NOTHING. A third consumer-an employee of a legitimate online auction company—discovered her firm’s photographs had been stolen and posted on Digron’s Site.
The company listed addres-34 Frontage Road in Sioux Falls, is an industrial utility property owned by Xcel Energy. The City of Sioux Falls confirmed no legitimate business operates there. A search of the South Dakota Secretary of State’s registry returns no record of Digron Machinery Depot under and variation of that name.
The Attorney General Demands TAKEDOWN
---The South Dakota Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division Independently investigated the site and issued a formal demand for its immediate suspension citing:
This is the 2nd known variation of the scheme—a prior site, digronmachinery.com, was previously identified and deactivated. The current site launched the operation under a new domain.
How the SCAM WORKS
The operation runs a structured criminal model. Equipment is listed at 20-45% below market value with free delivery to attract buyers and create urgency. The site presents a convincing front: professional design, a local South Dakota phone number, claims of 23 years in question and an active Facebook Page.
NONE OF IT IS REAL> The phone rings to an automated recording. The Facebook page has thousands of posts with no authentic American engagement. The domain was registered less than 5 weeks before this resale. Once a victim wires money—RECOVERY is virtually IMPOSSIBLE---funds are rapidly moved overseas thru straw Accounts.

Game Fish and Parks is in this Friday show—looking ahead to events that attract those for the great outdoors---Kip Rounds
I’d like to give an overview of what’s going on (and coming up) in the great outdoors! Also, this is one of the most important times of the year for our state bird, the pheasant, because it’s pheasant nesting season! I’ll talk a bit about what that means for our pheasant population – and what it means for pheasant hunting in South Dakota.
People need more information---what can they do –on line—by phone or door knocking Game Fish and Parks----

Downtown is officially in that stretch where there’s something happening everywhere you turn. Patio season is waking up, SculptureWalk is refreshed, and weekends are starting to fill up fast heading into summer.
One of the biggest things to check out right now is the brand-new SculptureWalk lineup. Nearly 80 new sculptures have been installed throughout downtown, and it completely changes the feel of a walk down Phillips Avenue. The new map drops this month, voting opens soon, and SculptureWalk has also started hosting artist talks where you can actually hear directly from the sculptors about their work and process. It’s one more reason to slow down, explore, and experience downtown on foot.
Now into the weekend.
Friday, Plum’s Cooking Company is hosting a cupcake decorating class just in time for Mother’s Day. It’s centered around floral icing techniques, and you leave with something beautiful and edible.
Friday night, Seussical Jr. opens at the Washington Pavilion. It brings all the classic Dr. Seuss characters to life and is one of the better family-friendly options downtown this weekend.
And if you’re looking for a movie night, the State Theatre has a really strong lineup this weekend with Mamma Mia!, The Wild Robot, and the new release The Drama all showing.
Saturday starts with a big Mother’s Day celebration at Nordic Hall featuring local makers, permanent jewelry, shopping, and a full lineup of small businesses. It’s designed to be an easy excuse to gather the moms, sisters, grandmas, and friends together and spend the day downtown.
Then from 11 to 5, it’s the 9th Annual Gear & Beer — one of Fernson Brewing Company's signature spring events. Outdoor gear, local vendors, drinks, live energy, and a lot of people getting excited for summer adventures. It’s always one of those events that spills energy throughout the district.
Seussical Jr. continues Saturday afternoon and evening, giving families multiple chances to catch it.
Then on Sunday, Plum’s is back with a Mother’s Day brunch cooking class featuring quiche, croque monsieur, and brunch favorites — and Seussical wraps up with its Sunday matinee.
And looking ahead a little bit…
The next Open Streets event is coming up during First Friday in June, and this one is going to be really fun.
Open Streets is where we temporarily close sections of downtown streets to vehicles and reopen them for people instead. It creates space for community gathering, walking, live music, local vendors, art, games, food, and experiences you normally wouldn’t get in the middle of a city street.
This June installment will feature architects and engineers from across Sioux Falls actually building a giant mini golf course right on Phillips Avenue. It’s creative, interactive, a little chaotic in the best way, and exactly the kind of thing that makes downtown feel alive.
That’s really the point of Open Streets — creating opportunities for people to experience downtown differently.
