Blog—May 2, 2022—9-10---It’s YOUR Business

When you hit the month of May----it’s a sign we are in the closing days of the School Year.

This morning---as we have done 3 times already this year---we will review the YEAR THAT WAS and almost is for the Sioux Falls School District.

Jane Stavem is the Supt of Schools for Sioux Falls—the largest school district in South Dakota---one of those that has helped us along is Cynthia Mickelson who has served on the Board for a number of years including being President of the Board.

What we want to know this morning---is what we NEED to and WANT to KNOW.

    In essence---

  • What was different this school year with the students—the teachers and the families
  • What goals were achieved this year---and what else would you have liked to accomplish
  • New Schools—how did they adapt along with the teachers—the students—and yes even the parents
  • The teachers—what was the good—the almost bad and what perhaps needs to be accomplished in 2022-2023

For Cynthia Mickelson----as a mom----year after covid----less time at home for zooming---and what she will remember for 2021-2022

Superintendent Stavem----she has experience in Nebraska---Washington State—and now South Dakota----my guess is she can put a handle on how we are doing---where we are headed---and just what 2022-2023 will be like.

The questions are asked in every school district in our State and neighboring states---we want to learn from it---give it a wrap---and make sure—parents---the students---and the communities involved know---they are involved—and this show just does a soft ask—while providing information—in a special 2 Segment part of this first Monday in May.

The interview carries a lot of solid information about kids---what they are seeing and where we are headed for the next year—five years—and decade. These two understand the importance of what the Legislature did and how it could affect teachers—faculty and so many more in the years ahead.

9:29----Building Permit Chief---Butch Warrington the City of Sioux Falls will give us the first look at the first 4 months of 2022. Sioux Falls is off to a good start in the year---but what did April bring---and what are the totals like? What is still on the shelf---and where are we going in 2022? The numbers over 530 million—compared with 319 million for the first 4 months of 2021.

Craig Wynia---will share with us the Parade of Homes coming up for two weekends in May. 40 homes---and of course two FEATURE HOMES---make a difference---as people will check the homes in Sioux Falls and a handful of communities.

The trends----should people ask questions---and what other trends will people be able to pick up-----we’ll continue our work with the Home Builders Association----and even be live on Friday—May 13th---from one of the Parade of Homes during our 9-11 show.

We didn’t get the opportunity in the last week of April to wrap up a rather unique—and all inclusive Women in Construction Regional Conference---yes there was a lot of zooming from a number of states---but we want Raven Hoffman this morning to tell us what we learned and how more of those in the Construction Industry can work together—benefitting those that buy and sell---as well as those that are needing more interested in joining the industry.  Our hope was to share another avenue that is out there---and perhaps bring together the mail dominated Home Builders Association---with Women in Construction. The initial reaction from those in our show said---we have to be together---let’s go forward.
