Blog—June 13, 2023—10-11—SD Farmers Union Show

The monthly South Dakota Farmers Union show---included long time Farmers Union Office Wayne Soren---and host Bill Zortman.

In this show---it was a day that Senators Rounds and Thune and Congressman Dusty Johnson were not available. It was a day in DC and Florida---that had some concern about what was being said by elected officials---with a former President---facing 37 counts of trouble.

But we were able to do the show----without political overtones---and share a lot of key topics with quality guests.

We talked about the CO2 pipeline—what it’s going after Minnehaha County reduced the setback from 750 feet to 330 feet.

SD FSA Disaster Program Manager---Logan Kopfmann---shared some updates on disaster assistance surrounding the pandemic---with the Livestock Forage Disaster Program.

Mr. Safety—SDFU—Rocky Forman talked about how he continues to travel the state talking with kids---families---and it’s a real life changer. They hit schools----fairs----including the SD State Fair—coming up in August.

Candi Briley---SD State Fair—update the events---for the August State Fair in Huron—counting down to 78 days for the start. Candi always shares how important partners are for the Fair----and with her being on the Farmers Union Show—she talked about the events—the reduced lunch----and what is important at the end of August.

Second half of the show---we talked to the Bruns Rodeo Family----yes mom and dad—and four kids---working Rodeo. Mom Kama lead the way---and it was interesting to find out how dedicated the kids are for national event coming up---and other stops along the rodeo road in the next few weeks. Interesting family---and even dad was in place to share what they do and how they do it.

Jayda Walton---Farmers Union talked about the State Camp—where it is and what it is—and why it’s so important. State Camp does bring people together—and Jayda made sure we knew it.

Anthony Bly---SDSU Extension gave us a look at the crop conditions throughout South Dakota---and the shape we are in. Laura Edwards—State Climatologist talked about the lack of moisture---what she sees for rain from the clouds in the days ahead—and the hopes for the summer and beyond.

Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App-streaming on line—or just ask ALEXA.  Norm Anderson will have the show available as a PODCAST by noon on the day that the show runs live.
