Brandon Hansen---Downtown Sioux Falls is with us this morning---and after all the events of the first few weeks of the year—we know he has more of the same up his sleeve(s)
Downtown is absolutely stacked this weekend — whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s, Galentine’s, or just looking for a great night out.
The headliner is Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Washington Pavilion. It runs Friday through Sunday with multiple showtimes — Friday afternoon and evening, Saturday afternoon and evening, and two performances Sunday. This is the full Broadway production, 10 Tony Awards, huge set pieces, powerhouse vocals — it’s a big, bold, glamorous night out. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to plan dinner and a show downtown, this is it.
Saturday morning kicks off with a Galentine’s Day Celebration at Nordic Hall from 10 to 2, hosted by Midnight Spark Permanent Jewelry. It’s a fun daytime event with shopping, pop-ups, and a chance to grab your friends and make a day of it downtown.
If you’re planning a Valentine’s date night, La Dolce Date Night at DaDa Gastropub on Saturday evening is a three-course Italian dinner for two. It’s a one-night-only experience — a great option if you want something curated and special without leaving downtown.
And don’t forget, the Pavilion keeps the Moulin Rouge momentum going all weekend, including Sunday matinee and evening performances. That means you can build your own downtown experience — brunch and a matinee, shopping and dinner before the show, drinks after. It’s all walkable, all right there.
That’s really the magic of weekends like this — you don’t just attend an event, you spend time downtown. And that supports our restaurants, boutiques, bars, salons, and entertainment venues all in one trip.
Then, let’s look ahead to March for a minute, because it’s going to be a big one downtown.
First — St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Float registration is officially open. If you’re a business, nonprofit, sports team, friend group, or just a collection of people who own something green, now is the time to sign up. The parade runs right down Phillips Avenue and it’s one of those days where Downtown truly feels alive. Thousands of people lining the streets, kids with candy bags, restaurants packed before and after — it’s community in motion.
And then — Mash Madness is back for 2026, this year brought to you by Williquors.
It’s bigger and more creative than ever. It’s no longer just one lane — we’ve opened it up to craft cocktails, craft beer, coffee creations, and incredible non-alcoholic options. It’s a full-on celebration of Downtown’s drink scene.
Throughout March, participating spots will debut specialty drinks and the public gets to taste, vote, and help crown the 2026 winner. It’s friendly competition, but it’s also a showcase of the talent behind the bar — the mixologists, baristas, brewers, and owners who pour a lot of creativity into what they do.
The best part? You’re not just sipping something great. You’re driving foot traffic, supporting local businesses, and helping us highlight why Downtown Sioux Falls has one of the most dynamic food and beverage scenes in the region.
----Brandon Hanson---thanks for all you do----and making it so delightful to stop in Downtown Sioux Falls----
