  Welcome to February!!

   In our 9-10 show---Jeff Griffin---President/CEO Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce joins us.

   One of the biggest events of the year was completed this weekend---with the 68th Annual Sioux Empire Livestock Show at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds.

   It was live---there were people----and there was enthusiasm for all that was accomplished. From the first events---our it’s YOUR Business Show was there----and that included the big day on Friday---with the animals taking center stage----all part of the lead-up to the Mayor’s Round-up and Sale of Champions Friday night.

   Jeff and the entire Chamber should be proud of what Holly Radar --- Agri Business Show Manager pulled off. It wasn’t easy---but it had the feel that it was suppose to have. And from our side it did.

   Jeff will give us what he saw---and why taking the gamble with this show worked.

   We’ll talk about that –as well as what’s up in February. With the Legislature meeting in Pierre---not exactly without quite a bit of fireworks--- but what the lawmakers do with the COVID Money, PPP stuff, and the regs they work with –will determine a lot of things for the rest of 2021.

    The first of the legislative coffee-s is this Saturday---and Sioux Falls Day in Pierre—which will be virtual this year is on the 19th.

    Jeff---is now beginning in his second year-----we’ll get his prospective---and where he think we should point the ship in 2021 and beyond.

    Debra Owen---Chamber Legislative leader---has been following the points –good and bad in Pierre for a number of years. We want to get her take on what she sees----where we are going----and what is good for the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber.

    A late add to the show is John Riles—who handles Midwest Shows. We’ll find out his thoughts on how the Sioux Falls Show at the Denny worked last week---and what he sees for other shows like his in 2021. He was able to visit with us Friday Night at the Mayor’s Round Up---and today – we’ll get his take on not only the show he handles---but others in this season.

    9:34---Butch Warrington—Building Permit Chief for the City of Sioux Falls will join us. Traditionally ---on the first business day of the new month (February)---we get at least a quick look at how the previous 30 or 31 days did. We closed 2020---with a record setting pace---including the Amazon dollars that hit the board in the last two weeks.  What about 2021-----what does he see commercially---what does he see residentially---and how will the regs change in 2021?

   In the same segment---though separate---Dan Letliter--- Sioux Falls Airport---gives us a little update. There was a story late last week---about PSA and American Airlines----that was canceling a number of flights. I remember during the Christmas rush times there were a number of flights that were cancelled----as the number of boardings were down.

   What about American/PSA Flying out of Sioux Falls? One of the flights we had with American in mid-December was cancelled and instead of us routing thru Dallas to our destination in Jackson, Mississippi---they cancelled the flight ---and we were sent thru Charlotte---which IS a PSA flight.

    Dan will update us on that ---the airlines----the masking requirements----and what else we should expect from our favorite airport in 2021.

    Our final guest in the 9-10 hour is Tim Ness---Ness Tax and Bookkeeping. Tim joins us for Tax Talk on Tuesday February 9th---9-10. With all the changes happening with the Fed’s and stimulus money that came in---as well as a change in the White House---we’ll get some ideas this morning. What about the April 15th deadline---will that be backed up to a later date? What do you need to bring with you for tax prep in 2021 for 2020?
