Blog-December 4, 2024 9-10—Working on Wellness Wednesday
Day After---Tuesday Giving Show and he made sense to be able to include in the Working on Wellness Wednesday show…
We started with the Sioux Falls City Health Director Joe Kipley (1 “p” or 2 “p-s”?)
We talked about key issues like RSV---what he shared with the Downtown Rotary Club ---with a key leader from the State on Medicine.
We have been very happy to have Joe as our Health Director---and at the same time to make a difference.
We wanted him on the show with the first week in December---yes the weather changes and so does what we might catch. We found out after years---that polio is now history-----sexual diseases are causing grief-----up significantly.
Joe promised to talk with us about something new in January---yes another person we haven’t met that will make a difference in 2025.
Dr. Chad Thury—RSV Vaccinations the topic from Avera. We learned about the impact of RSV—and why it hits the elderly populations all the way down to the infants. I don’t know if I am considered old in RSV standards----but I’ll be staying close to Dr. Thury—and continue asking the questions. Still not sure on the symptoms----and I’ve never had an RSV Shot---do I get one----how do we protect ourselves.
We always are concerned with our rural audience-----and their health care—anytime I see Avera or Sanford make a push to help the rural area----I want it on our show. Yes Agriculture is the #1 industry in the state.
Dr. Joshua Jorde joined us at helped us understand accidents and chiropractors. His 13 year daughter Mila helped with the ideas in the show—and his son is a Sr. nursing students.
Those accidents can all hit us hard. Make sure be checked out if you are in a car accident or any accident—and yes Chiropractic is often a good place to start. The check-out---that you can show you had injuries from an accident is a dollar and cent issue. Dr. Jorde explained what was important and shared examples of what could jump up and bite you if you don’t do it correctly.
Unfortunately without the lack of an injury being confirmed from the accident---and insurance company more times than not will absolutely try and say that a later injury came from an earlier accident unless there’s proof that it wasn’t. Out of staters often check with chiropractors before they leave the state….
Shelley Johnson---Director of Development for DakotAbilities talked about the dollars that came in on Giving Tuesday---what has been given in December has already surpassed the numbers for all 30 days of November.
She suggested getting support from your closest circles. That influence helps spread the word. Employees and board members do play a significant role.
We did our best to share as many stories as possible during the Giving Tuesday—we didn’t get to all of them but in 2 hours—we had perhaps 10 to 12 that we shared. We appreciate all those that gave---and all those that told the stories.
