Blog-December 2, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---started –as we like to do—the first Monday of the month with the Auction Update from Chuck Sutton and a Lincoln County Look for Jim Schmidt.
That is what we did in this show---Mr. Sutton shared with us some of the sales that were going on include 80 acres in Minnehaha County at $26,500 per acre. He did share a hand-full of others—which show an active market-place---
That was leading us to advise for those that have plans to sell---or for those who want to buy ---and geographically if you listen to the podcast---you’ll hear locations—prices—and what to expect—today, tomorrow and beyond.
We talked estates----and what to expect in 2025 as well.
Jim Schmidt---Lincoln County Commissioner---very much respected nationwide for what he does—and how he helps his county. We did hear about what they have done---how well their election went –compared to a neighboring county to just north of them. From Sutton and Schmidt—we have decades of experience—and several pounds of caring. They make a good team—even though sometimes people in Minnehaha County don’t always agree. They make a great team and answer my questions. Thank you for that.
Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank is part of the planners---they look to help and we talk about the planning for those in business—in agriculture---and for the young and old alike. They join us on Monday and Wednesday.
Sarah Heinrich-provided the Growing Harvest Network from our sister station KFGO in Fargo. Matt Swenson gave us the first glimpse of the markets for December.
Darren Hefty—AG PHD—talked to us about an unusual disease called “corn stunt” and how the USDA keeps major problems for the most part out of our country. He hosts a World Wide Radio Show on Sirius 143 or is it 147. Check and let me know---what you found.
Bryson Patterson---SBA of South Dakota joined us---we talked about his week and story lines we expect to hear in this first full week in December.
Geri Eide—helps us with this being a big award day----they were announcing the awards at 11:30—30 minutes after our Ag Show—but we did get to talk to two of those who were up the awards. In Tuesday’s 9-10 show we’ll have two of the winners that were chosen---10-11—will have two more. We enjoy following along and sharing their stories—and encouraging the winners and others---to keep working and find important information---and win or lose you advance in what you will do later in life.
Rock Nelson had our friend Jerry Schmitz—Executive Director of the South Dakkota Soybean Association join us---he talked about how they deal with all kinds of soybeans including Non-GMO Beans---how they invest their time and checkoff monies in research, promotion and education of all things related to soybean production and utilization.
The South Dakota Soybean Association was established in 1982—and the SD Soybean Research and Promotion Council was established in 1984. It later became part of the national checkoff which was established thru federal legislation during the 1990 Farm Bill.
They will be hosting an event with some winners this week—and we want to have Jerry join us on Friday’s Ag show.
Justin Glisin—Iowa State Climatologist was with us this morning---Laura Edwards was on the road today and couldn’t drive an talk safely—we’ll have her on if she is available on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show understands that Ag is #1 in South Dakota—we give it it’s due.
