  One of those times where the Sioux Empire Fair is starting---we are seeing all kinds of information about events ahead----the crops—looking now to harvest---and we are not far from the start of the school days for 2026-2027-----

 

  Between now and then---the Sioux Empire Fair is rolling-----and next week for our monthly visit with South Dakota Farmers Union---Rocky Forman---will be hosting guests at the Brown County Fair---

Emily’s HOPE

Emily’s Hope is partnering with the INTO LIGHT Project and the South Dakota Art Museum at SDSU to launch a powerful new initiative: "Drug Addiction: Real People, Real Stories – South Dakota."

It started August 1, we are inviting 30 South Dakota families who have lost a loved one to substance use disorder to share their images and stories. These will be turned into hand-drawn graphite portraits and personal narratives for an upcoming art exhibition designed to humanize addiction and reduce stigma.

QUICK DETAILS:

  • What: Seeking 30 South Dakota stories/portraits (first-come, first-served; no cost to participate)
  • Submission Window: August 1, 2026 – November 1, 2026 at intolightproject.org/share-your-story
  • Exhibit Opens: February 1, 2027, at the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings, SD
  • Family Gift & Legacy: Families keep the original framed portrait after the exhibit, and all stories will be archived nationally with UCSF

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY: Angela Kennecke, Founder/CEO of Emily’s Hope, is available to speak about the project's mission and the impact on local families.
