(((((YEE HAH----I’m Bill Zortman and WELCOME to our Working on Wellness Wednesday Show---Show 51-74)))))

This is our Working on Wellness Wednesday---and as we did in our shows on Tuesday---with the help of Gerri Eide—FFA of South Dakota---and others---nice cross section on events that will make you think.

But lets start with Dr. Tim Ridgway--- yes the Med School Tim Ridgway and before we get into what will be an interesting Wellness Show---and the 10-11 Farm Show---too

Dr. Ridgway---we are mid-way into April what would you like to share about what you have been up to---as well as the variety of students and their curriculum that you help certify----some students are ready to graduate in the next month or two?

----------Dr. Ridgway-----------

Here on the Plains—farms has a Glyphosate fight as cancer

claims are reportedly outrunning the evidence---

The President is promoting the product—but those in the other party have claimed that the herbicide causes cancer.

The argument with the executive order—is being called a slap in the face to the thousands of Americans who have gotten cancer from Glyphosate---

Members of both parties say glyphosate is dangerous---but regulatory agencies conclude glyphosate is unlikely to cause cancer---

Something our listeners on the farms—should be reading—watching for and become aware of what both sides are saying---

-----------and--------------

We’ll visit with your 4th year student Aaron Fest—a little later this morning----

Good news for Emily’s Hope—they have received more than a half million dollar grant from the South Dakota Opioid Settlement Fund—we’ll talk with Angela Kennecke next---

9:16/00—KELO Commercials

9:17/30---Wellness 2

Angela Kennecke—Founder and CEO of Emily’s Hope has joined us to explain the Grant from SD Opioid Settlement’s Fund that could do as Angela hopes---to position Emily’s Hope as the KEY Partner in the State’s long-term strategy to prevent substance misuse before it starts.

Angela talk us thru the more than a half million grant and what you see it could do---

--the project is a collaboration with the SD Dept of Social Services (DSS) and Prevention Resource Centers across SD, positioning Emily’s Hope as a key partner in the state’s long-term strategy to prevent substance misuse before it starts---

“In 2019---I simply asked people to help me building something that could save lives, and the response was overwhelming.”

Addition medicine physicians, substance use disorder counselors, educators, school counselors and so many others stepped ---“what we built together ---as a community that we built together ---as a community, out of love and loss—is now reaching tens of thousands of students and has earned the trust of the state of South Dakota. This grant is a POWERFUL VOTE OF CONIDENCE in every person who believed in this work from the very beginning.

You have developed a comprehensive K-12 substance use prevention curriculum that is already making a measurable difference across South Dakota and yes beyond.

The curriculum was built by a panel of experts, including addition medicine physicians, substance use disorder counselors, educators, and school counselors, ensuring its content is clinically grounded and classroom-ready.

You wrote the K-8 books –Emily’s sister and a professional animator and illustrator who graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design---  what a story all of this has been---and we all should continue to followup---

What else should we know—and what else do you see coming ahead---

People needing more information—is there a place they can get their fill and provide help as well?

We’re here to help and we know so many others are as well.

   We’ll say some prayers---take a news break—come back
