Hr1: Going to Ireland!

Published Feb 7, 2025, 4:15 PM
We finally got the announcement we’ve been waiting for - the Steelers are going to Ireland! The guys celebrate on their last day in studio and are joined by Missi Matthews to talk all the latest.

This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Shure, the official insurance and cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now he is Craig Wolfley and Max Starks.

Well.

Well, well, just like bad breath in the morning, I'm back, folks. Hey, I ran the sick Rattle, you know, for a few days there, but I had to get back for the locker room for the final donut on the twenty twenty fourth season. So I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to the Steelers Nation for all you guys mean to me. All yours Gales, love you, get yours guys, net.

All right, hit it Wes, Let's go baby.

A lot has changed since the last time.

With some things I never do. These roots run deep.

Always have, always will. The bomb between Ireland and the Steelers is forged in history, passion, pride, beef. You see, black, gold and green are just meant to be music, football and tradition are intertwined in the spirit of Ireland. This isn't just any game This is a celebration of heritage and culture and I'm unbreakable, ununion spirit. Picture thousands of Irish fans waiving their terrible toes. Is the NFL season lambs in Dublin for the first time. The sound of the drum echoes across the city. The Pittsburgh Stealers are commonly crow prit It's time to witness history.

Are you ready? Oh?

Yeah, the rumors have been come true. Here the big news of the day. The Steelers are going to Ireland. Max, What say you?

Well, we're going across the pond mine man.

That's right, laddie.

We're going to find oh, good old Shamrocks and leprechauns and of course a good old pint i Guinness to top it all off, isn't it right?

Wesley?

Oh gentlemen, this is the big one we've been waiting for. I found my pot to go at the end of the rainbow. Where's the four leaf clover?

Oh? I gotta be lucky Charms ready to go?

He is unbelievable. Now, where's my where's my captain? Don him? Boys and a peach blinders? Where I need me one of them? Right now?

That's right?

I'm so happy I could hit somebody with a shee.

My chale.

Oh no, that's not a song, it's my sharona.

Wow.

Oh man, this is awesome, awesome wolf. I can't believe it.

I mean, we're the Steelers are going to Ireland and boy, oh boy, what a long time coming.

You know, you just think about the history of this team.

You you and I both missed the opportunity the last time they went to Ireland.

You on the front end and me on the back end. And you know the and how.

The Steelers have worked seamlessly with the Irish government over these years. Of course, you know the late Dan Rooney being the ambassador to Ireland for eight years, and I'm sure this was in the workings while he was the ambassador to try and bring Steelers football back to the mother country. And you know, such a steeped relationship with Ireland and the Rooney family, and you know, I couldn't be happier.

You know that that that this.

Announcement came down and that the Steelers will be traveling across the Pond to do to do battle in the mother country. So uh excited at static. Obviously, we won't know anything official as far as the game date, the opponent to of course, schedule released later in the spring when we you know, all the hooplah probably.

In May comes down.

But we do know a destination outside of Pittsburgh where a game will be played this season is going to be in Dublin at at Croke Park. And of course we have Michael mcquaide coming on you know Steelers Ireland podcast. I saw Michael in fact, his set was literally across from our set at Serious excem all.

Week really so and you could just see he was excited.

He's like, man, you know the you know, the Irish government and Dublin, they're gonna have a decision very soon. So he would tell me, you know, he's like, he's like, hopefully we hear it this week, you know, with all the other news and because obviously NFL announced a couple of days ago that the NFL would be going to Melbourne, Australia in twenty twenty six, so you know, we thought that was going to be the day that they were going to make the announcement for Ireland, but of course that was the NFL's bigger plans. So this one falls of course in Super Bowl week on the penultimate day, the Friday of media Row before everything kicks off on Sunday in the Big Easies.

But man, wonderful news. Wonderful.

But I mean the Steelers are going to Ireland. The going to Kroke Park, historic Krog Park. I mean, this thing was built what eighteen forty eight I believe it was.

It went through rena long time ago.

Yeah, one hundred and forty one years ago, I think about it. They renovated it from two thousands, let's see, from two thousand and seven. Nope, anyhow, they renovated it, so you got like eighty six thousand.

Two thousand and four.

It was renovated two.

Thousand and four. Thank you, Wesley. Yep, I'm always a little short on details.

Eighteen eighty four.

One too many toss thirty two traps, you know, but certainly you know the fact that you go to such a historic park to take a look at the capacity I mean of this stadium is eighty two thousand.

And three hundred gad zooks. Man, that's awesome.

I can't even imagine how ecstatic Steelers Nation has got to be thinking about the possibility of traveling and at some point in time the FAQ Steelers dot Com will be up give you all the information you need. The opponent will be announced when the league schedule comes out. All that stuff coming later on. But certainly this is just ginormous news and I gotta believe that everybody's excited about it.

The Steelers, the historic relationship.

Between DMR as the ambassador over there so many years ago, and and then being able to come back and play again after When did they go over the first time? Was it ninety seven?

Yeah, it was ninety seven ninety eight season. It was when Cordell Stewart was quarterback. This so I can tell you right there you go, yeah.

Yeah, so.

But but a beautiful sight, you know, I mean, because it's the biggest stadium in Ireland and I'm sure they've had a lot of you know, Highland slash Gaelic games that's gone there. Maybe you go toss a caber one last time wolf over there.

Yeah, you know, I had tossed to caber or two in my time.

That.

Let me tell you something, there's nothing that is feudile feeling as that caber. Once you throw it and try to go end over end and it comes back at you, you're feeling pretty puny. Yeah, it's like picking up a telephone Paul trying to flip it, you.

Know, Yeah, which is so wild.

I mean, like you just think about like those type of things. Obviously there's a big hurling competitions that happened in Croke Park as well, so maybe you could you could hurl. I don't know, I hopefully don't hurl. Yeah, that's usually after the bar though, not from sporting activity.

So uh, hey, that hurling is pretty tough stuff.

Man.

That's like hockey without ice.

You know that they don't have they don't I don't think they have gloves on or they got minor gloves that they wear, and uh but man, they come up and they bang.

That's pretty tough sport.

Yeah, I mean, I mean, you know you talk about man's man's sport, right, Yeah.

Well this is gonna be a man's sport when that Steelers head over there next year.

Yeah, baby, it's gonna be about the same amount of blood spilled on the on that on those grounds.

So I'm hoping as long as it's not a not a pillow fight.

Yeah, yeah, it won't be a pillow fight, but we're gonna have Michael McQuaid from Steelers Ireland podcast on at what eleven o'clock? I believe we also have the great Missy Matthews, the Queen of the Sidelines, on at ten twenty five or is it? Uh, yeah, it's somewhere ever. You know, here's the thing. I come rolling in on the last locker room and you know, you can have miss a few things every now and then, and so I just say this, folks, I had to take some medications, so a little grace. So if I start talking suddenly about space aliens or why Captain Kangaroo wasn't really a captain, then you know, Wesson Max will put me in between the bumpers and get me back land and see it.

We'll just say it's Friday inside the locker room. I mean, who who has it chased a.

Good rabbit every once in a while or a squirrel? You know, I know it. I love it because because.

We're the we're the pinnacle of journal of journalism, you know here on our show, as we always know, but uh, for journalistic integrity, we do appreciate the grace wolf. Uh we don't, you know, we don't need any excuses to be silly, So you know, isn't that true.

It'll be all right, It'll be all right. You know.

If you if you look up Croke Park you'll see a panoramic view.

It is beautiful.

I mean, it's so interesting. I wonder if this will be set up like the stadium in London, Wembley Stadium when we went there, and was it twenty twelve or something like that, but I remember that Tounch and billy Hillgrove. They were in the stands, they were outside. The broadcast mooth was outside.

In amongst the stands.

You've got fans all around you, and you're calling the game back to Pittsburgh and everything else. But you're sitting out there and I'm strolling the sidelights. And by the way, that was the nicest grass because it's a soccer stadium, you know, the incredible grass that they grow there. It was unbelievable. So I'm looking forward to this. I think this is going to be absolutely unbelievable. What a great opportunity spread American football, Steelers football overseas, and what a great opportunity to be able to go and watch it too.

No, absolutely, I think it's going to be awesome. And when you kind of look at the stadium layout. It kind of reminds me, you know what reminds me of kind of gives uh, kind of gives Seattle Seahawks time vibes.

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right.

You look at it with with those kind of like arches over each sideline. M hmm.

Kind of kind of gives those type of vibes. But beautiful venue.

If you haven't seen it, you just want to get a feel for the state, you can go to Croke Park c r o K E. Because you don't want to see r o a k Croke before you get there, so good dot yeah dot i E of course is like the Irish websites over there, So yeah, Croke Park dot i E. If you want to look at the stadium, and they have obviously you know you would think for Gaelic games and and hurling and and all Ireland football information. Right now, we have not been put on that schedule yet for the park. But get get a little familiarity.

You know what's fun little lay of the land.

I love the fact that the locals they the Croker.

Yeah exactly. Yeah, now you're going over to the Croker. Wait a second, I'm not done just yet. I know I had a call Jesus.

You know what I'm saying, Come on, Willie McDonald, stop it, but stop it. Just just just pump your brakes there.

Yeah, exactly, just pump the top of them a little bit.

What'd you please? Wow? No, but we're talking about the stadium, sir. Oh oh oh oh oh okay, I thought you were talking to me.

You kind of made eye contact me when you said it, kind of gave me, gave me crazy eyes. No, but yeah, going to the Croker, I mean, and you have to imagine there's probably there's gonna be some fun stuff leading up to that game. I'm sure this summer we'll have probably some outreach and some some goodwill stuff.

I mean, should can put a bug in? Uh you know, do they have bangers in mash in Ireland?

Do they have bangers?

I was just saying, I don't know, Max, did I have Did I have trucks in the rodeo in America?

I don't know.

Yeah, I don't know.

Do you know do you know one of the chief exports there and one of the things that I used to grow there were potatoes in the ground.

So I knew that.

I knew that, so of course I got mash and just add a little bangor to it.

Have you ever had that?

Oh? Yeah, yeah? Is that good?

Bangers and mash is good? I mean a little little you know, a little shepherd's pie. I mean yeah, you get Oh.

Man, Marine, give me some of that shepherd's.

This time of year, you got to love a good beef stew.

You know, you put it, put it in a doll up a mashed potatoes right in the middle.

Yeah, what's what's what's the what's like the beef stew like kind of like pot pies.

I forgot what those are called. That shepherd also, no, no, no, but.

It's like a hand pie that's with the flaky crust around it.

That's where the shepherds crush, I believe.

No, Shepherd's probably gottas and yeah, past these, there we go past the.

You gotta have gotta have a good beef pasty.

You gotta have a good beef PASTI you know, beef.

And stout pie.

Beef, my goodness.

Just know we're going to eat good boys.

Oh yeah, you're gonna show this picture to Wolf. This was my beef factory.

You're kidding me?

Look at that? Look at that looking at a beef stew and a big mash but tatters.

It's the language I love right here. Man, now you're speaking, my goodness.

I mean, we're going to the land of comfort food. Wolf.

You know, it doesn't get more comforting than having a good stout and a good red red meat is killing the star starches galore, starches galore.

Look, whoa what just came up with the bangers and mash. Oh my goodness. Oh, I gotta tell you this is something you want to come along and see. Man, Oh man, oh man. That that's that's one.

Come on because because we will be there, be there or b square Robin Williams.

Did I ever tell you by the way, I met Robin Williams, you know, just for a little fly by, you know, you know, just he was at Lynn Swan's Halloween party one year.

Couldn't believe it.

Some guy that he was at a Halloween But he was doing two shows down in Pittsburgh. And I think it was a Monday night or something like that, and it was Halloween and Lynn Swan had a party for all the team at his house and then Robin Williams came along and he didn't know at first who the guy was, you know, and then wow, you know, there he is. It was so funny himself, absolutely, you know, no kidding. But I got to tell you something. He would have liked some bangers and mashing. Look at that.

That's sensational.

Yeah.

Yeah, Well I had a victory donut while you were talking.

So very good.

Well I came in for the last donut of the twenty twenty fourth season, buddy.

Yeah, I had a chocolate Long John to start out the day. So we're in a good place.

Well, we're in a good place, and we're going to good place because later on we've got coming up here, Missy Matthews. We also have Michael McQuaid from the Steelers Steelers Ireland podcast coming up. So hang in there be Be Be There or be Square. No, No, that's the opening selvel. We'll be right back with more. You're listening to the Steelers Audio Network.

This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next. Now here's Craig Wolfley and Max Stark's.

All right, we are back inside the locker room.

And of course, you know when you hear that knock in the trunk, you know what that is. That's of course the bounce to the ouse. That's the course, miss Missy Matthews. How are we doing, Missy? How are we doing today?

I'm good. It's Friday, you know, it's their sunshine and Pittsburgh and I think the you know, the Ireland announcement is pretty exciting. And I've just been like reading and seeing what everyone's been posting, and I know our little radio chat is blowing up because we're all excited.

Indeed, Missy, I you know, I took of course took me by surprise because I'm usually it's touch.

I said, you're the last one to know anything.

But the fact is you look at this and what a historic moment to be able to spread NFL slash more importantly, Steelers football across the ocean to a historic homeland of what of the of the you know, the the Rooney family.

I think that's just tremendous. What a buy in.

Yeah, I just think, you know, you go back to DMR and how much Ireland meant to him, to his family, his work as the ambassador just incredible, even what he does for you know, the Ireland Fund here in Pittsburgh every year that you know mister Rooney, Art Rooney has carried on as well. I just think it's extra cool because of that background and as you said, being able to expand American football, Steelers football. I remember going to London in twenty thirteen and that was by far one of you know, the coolest things I've had a chance to do in terms of working with this Deelers, and it was just incredible to see the support in a different country and just the interest in it almost felt like it was bigger than just a regular season game because of everything surrounding it. And you know, well, if I think about Punch that broadcast we did out of that pub with still Hill Grove, I mean, just like it's just crazy to think, you know, we're gonna get a chance to do that again and just how special that was. So I'm pumped.

No, I mean, this is this is a historic moment for Steelers football to be able to go back to Ireland, but most importantly to know that you know, the work that's been done, you know, because like you said, historically, like there was a lot done to get to that.

I think ninety seven ninety eight, we're not here on the date. I can't.

It's right within that span to get that game going. And then you know, you look how long it took. I mean almost thirty years later. You know, Steelers are returning back to Ireland. So a lot of work has been done. And I'm sure the late d M R. When he was in an ambassador role, was probably laying the groundwork for this, uh, for this day to happen. You know, sad that he can't, he won't be able to share, but I know he'll be shining down on us. When the Steelers do touch down in Ireland and they put they put cleats to the grass and Croke Park, that'll be a fun, fun day. I can't tell you how excited I am. I've never done an international game, so this will be my first one and I'm gonna be pumped. I mean, I'm not gonna lie. I might wear a Leprechaun suit. I don't know what I want inside.

For you now, so it's ready.

Yeah, I have to call the Notre Dame mascot for some tips. You know.

Yeah, I don't know if the Notre Dame mascot's your size though, so I mean, but I mean, but.

He knows a guy, he knows a guy. I'll just yeah, exactly.

I just can't have a Leprechaun make it, you know, I just have to get leperchn make me, make.

Me the same suit, just thirteen times bigger peace exactly exactly.

And we're gonna make Wes grow his beard out, you know, and just just have it around there.

We might diet a little red for him.

Better start, yeah, exact, Yeah, yeah, you start on that now, Wes, and then and then we'll patch it in the rest of it when we when we get.

To the game, I'm start now. I'm here for it. We gotta think ahead, guys, we gotta think ahead.

Yeah.

But you know, miss, I do want to ask you about this just kind of a general NFL question, you know, obviously a lot of big news because not only do we have, you know, the Steelers going to Ireland this year, but in twenty twenty six, NFL's taking the game to Australia as well. They talked about Melbourne in site for twenty twenty six and just it. I mean, how exciting is this to see the NFL's kind of outreach to go to all these different countries because obviously we already have London, we already have Germany in the books, but now to add these additional countries and you know, kind of spread American football around the world. Just how exciting is that? Just think about from a fan perspective. Of course as journalists we're excited as well.

Yeah, it is crazy. I mean Australia is not close, you know, and I think it's the Rams are being designated as the home team. Obviously you saw the Eagles and the PA was that the Packers who played in Brazil this past season. It is pretty wild because again I am still shocked that the Steelers went from twenty thirteen in London to this year being their next international game. I could not believe that there was not another opportunity at some point. I know, obviously Mexico is very coveted and there was issues with the stadium and whatnot, but that just felt like a really long gap for a team that is very historic and you know, has the fan base that it has. We see them take over opposting stadiums all the time, like they like to travel, but it is cool to see that there are other places being added. And I think it just speaks to the popularity of the NFL the brand. You know, just think about Super Bowl Sunday and how much money is made that day for commercials and just the different things that go into it. Even one of my boys last night, I had the NFL Honors on and they're like, so, it's just an award show just for football, and I'm like, yeah, yeah, Like I'm watching it. You know, other people are watching it. And the NFL knows how to take advantage of its popularity, and you can't knock them for it. It's why it is the profitable business that it is. It is why even if you don't watch football, you probably are very in tune with a number of things, not even having to be a fan. You know, you think about sometimes there's the funny videos of different teams, whether it's in football or other showing logos and having people on the street guess it. Like most people could probably guess one of the thirty two NFL teams. I think you go to hockey or something like that, then it's gonna get a little sketch, but the NFL is just such a powerhouse and I, as you said, Maxim's so glad that we get to be part of the Steelers going international gun and getting a chance to go to Ireland.

You know what's amazing.

If you had a chance to look at some of the pictures of Croke Park, this is a stadium full of history, full of now they've expanded it and everything. But I mean you're talking about eighteen forty eight when it was first. The locals call it the Croker I love that name.

I bet you'll use that a lot too. I like it. That sounds like a wolf word for.

Sure, exactly. So have you taken a look at the pictures though? It is just really an open air venue that is just.

I don't know, it just is Ireland.

It just looks fantastic, very breathtaking.

I was there was like some of the like pump up video I saw that the Steeler social team put out, So I was looking at some of that drone footage and the photos like you said, but I was also reading about how they have their own turf farm and said, like, the NFL was more than pleased with you know, our surface and what we can do to it to make it as cool as as possible, to what grass fields are like over you know, in the United States. So I just think it's really cool and as you said, very pretty Does anybody know what's the weather going to be? That was my next thing. I wanted to spending time because.

You know, yes, you need to know.

I was curious what, like, you know, the average temperature could potentially be.

Well, they say that, See the daytime tempers are around sixty to sixty five degrees, falling to sixty to sixty one by the end. At nighttime, those are fifty two early in the morning fall into around forty eight forty nine degrees by the end.

That's there, you go.

I mean that you're you're a tough Pittsburgh gale. I mean you can handle that easy. That's like, that's not even a problem.

No, Max and I have been worse.

Yes, yeah, sadly we've been in worse. So, I mean, you know, Missy says Hoodie. I say, well, I at least have to have long sleeves, you know, shirt, Yeah, exactly exactly. That's a T shirt you know that has a little bit more than just dry fit. You know, cotton cotton T shirt.

Well, you better shirt, you better.

You better tell that Notre Dame mascot that you know you need a lighter version of the outfit that he wears.

Well, it's more so than knickers, you know what I'm saying. It's those knickers that you nickers. Yeah, the long stocking socks, you know, I mean, that's that's definitely what what I mean, buddy, Yeah, exactly. Just I'm gonna feel really comfortab don't worry, you're gonna se You're gonna see some ath leisure version of of that suit. I think he's I think he's sponsored by under Armours. So I think we could, uh, we could work something out.

There's something there.

And once again, I don't have to wear the Nike stuff that the team has to wear because obviously I'm not playing on the field. So you know, if I come up with something, don't worry it. Don't have a Steelers logo somewhere.

It'll be good because then Wolf and West and Dan will be able to spot you no matter where you're at on the field.

That is true.

But hey, but I might blend in with the grass depending on the green. Hopefully it's a Kelly green and not like a grass green that that would be great now true?

Yeah, like I blend it.

Yeah, you be like.

Blending in and like Commando crawling on the grass. Anywayscise me.

Third, Yeah, what are you doing? Nothing? I'm invisible. You can't trying to fight me? Pots of gold? No, no, but missing.

I mean, you know, obviously, you know we are barreling down towards the super Bowl down in New Orleans. I was down there all week. I just got back home late last night, and you know, the buzz is all around. There's a lot of Eagles fans, a lot of Chiefs fans. Everybody's feeling their emotions. So you know, I would be remiss if I didn't ask for Missy Matthews' super Bowl pick coming up for Sunday.

So I'm a hater. I don't want to see the Chiefs three teeth.

Why.

Okay, figure out which hater you were talking about, because it's equally based.

I mean, you know, true, true, But I feel like, as a true born and bred Yinzer, my hatred for Philly is more towards the Flyers than the Eagle. There we go, but one of my absolute best friends is from Philly. She's a crazy Eagles fan. We had the mo or for the championship game, and like everyone's outside skating and having fun and she is literally standing by herself standing watching the game, freaking out. And so for her well being, I feel like I would like to see the Eagles beat the Chiefs. And just because again, like I said, I don't want the Chiefs to do it. I know that's probably not great, but I just I'm one of those people.

See I'm one of those one of those guys that I want both teams to lose.

I don't know how it'll work out.

I want them to done better than that, right there.

Well that would be a first yes, no doubt about it.

How do you you know?

You look at this and that.

To me, it just comes down to it's going to be the Eagles offensive line versus the chief defensive line and what they do to be able to control the line of scrimmage. You control that line of scrimmage and Sakuon Barklay's got got it going. But again, if you can't, Mahomes is right there. So it should be interesting, but does leave me wondering how both teams.

Could lose it.

Once true yeah, I mean I do think it's going to be a good game, which I think even just you know, the football fans want to see, you don't want it to be something ridiculous. I mean even you know, the whole twenty eight three game between the Falcons and the Patriots, like that game was blown out of proportion and then all of a sudden, like the Patriots made it interesting again. I didn't want them to win because again I'm a hater, but I'm just saying, like, I want to see a good game where I'm not just like haphazardly watching, you know, by like the second half. I like when it comes down to the end and whatnot. So I think it has the potential of that. I do agree agree with you in terms of like the line of scrimmage and who can control it. I just think you do have to give the Chief the advantage of team, a team that has been there obviously a lot in recent history. Just the amount of a sty championship games that they have made is insane. What is the eight now? I think eighth straight straight, seven straight? Okay, yeah, I'm giving them a little too much credit, but I mean still that's that's crazy.

And the.

Right, was when Chris Boswell kicked six s field goals, uh and the Steelers went to the AFT Championship against the Patriots instead of the Chiefs. So it's it's just wild.

No, yeah, it's it's wild, indeed. But it's going to be a good game.

I mean, you know, the funny thing is we saw both of these teams this year, so you know, we know what each team is working with. I mean, obviously, the only addition is Chris Jones did not play in our matchup. He will be playing in this game, but they didn't need him apparently that day on Christmas Day when we face them on Netflix. But you know, and then and then also playing listen to this, we played We played the Eagles and the and the Chiefs within that three and eleven span, and then Baltimore was the only thing in between those two games that's still ridiculous. And then people were like, oh, well, how you know, oh, you know, these guys are good. The two teams we played in that three game stretch are in the Super Bowl, right, and you know, I'm like, come on, like seriously, I mean, we had that was the worst stretch for any team in the NFL, right, there if you just take a snapshot of those and we played all three of those games within eleven days, and I expect to come out on top of that, and then the Ravens are over there, belly achid. Well, we went to one.

You played the Giants. Okay, they don't even have.

Yeah coming off of their butt, and you had the Giants dexter Lord is the only guy on that squad. You know, everybody that was good was gone from there, you know what I'm saying. So boohoo on that yet once again, Joe Harbor, And where are you at, John Harbor?

Oh, that's right, you're sitting in the couch like the rest of us watching the game.

Thank you, yes, yes.

Sorry, let me throw this in there. Did you read the report this morning that Jalen Carter is sick?

I did not see that.

Now, yeah, there's somewhere in there. Now.

I don't know if it's officially official or whatever, but it was. Hey, it's on the internet. It's got to be true, right, So the fact is, well, they say it also permeated into some of the other players, they think, and maybe some of the coaches, so that might be something to watch. I don't again, don't know the veracity of how much or how bad, but I would certainly think that's you're gonna.

Have a little more.

Uh, it could be it could get difficult there, but still.

I think you're gonna, I mean to play in the super Bowl. Oh yeah, yeah, I'm sure whether it's liquid, ivy, real, IV's whatever, it is. Like, I would do any thing, even to just go to the super Bowl, let alone play in it. So I don't know that. We'll have to keep an eye on it.

Little modium a deal. Just yeah, you see a cork you know what I'm saying, Just just cork it up. And what you Lewis gets a pediate, you know, just just do it. Shoot, I was right.

I was right next to next to touch when he threw up in the guy's face.

The ball.

So I mean, if you got to let it go, you'll let it go. But you gotta play.

Yeah you can't.

Absolutely no, absolutely not.

Believe me.

He didn't miss the guy either, Yeah, just like he didn't miss the game. So we we we know we got your touch.

Don't worry. We feel the same way. I wish I would have thrown up somebody's face. That would have been hilarious.

That's a that's a snapshot of a memory.

Oh yeah, yeah exactly. It's like he imagine that like down said sorry sorry, could help it?

Good, help it well, Missy.

We appreciate everything that you've done, obviously this season was coming on the show. Of course, most importantly you know how important and vital you are to our little circle of radio broadcast trust and being an invaluable member on the team, keeping my life a lot easier and also keeping me staying on the sidelines. I do appreciate that, and of course you know, being the great teammate that you are for our crew. We appreciate all your efforts and thank you as always for all your contributions throughout the season on the show. And very fitting that you get to be on our last broadcast of the season. Of course it would not be you know, would not go unset, of course, and keeping all of us in line, all the boys in line, like you do with your own kids, you now take on your radio broadcast kids as well.

So we are appreciative of that, Missy, and we love you.

I love you guys to my radio kids are actually bigger than me, but it's there's still my kids I got. I mean, my boys will be bigger than me at some point too. They're already like looking at my Jordan's and I'm like, nope, not yet. And I'm gonna hide them from you because I know what you do.

Yeah exactly exactly. Do not do not play not play kickball in these.

Yeah, yeah exactly. My shoes last for years. Yours last for like four months?

Yes exactly. All right, Well, hey, we're gonna step aside. We'll be back with more here inside.

The locker room on a on a on.

An what final edition I guess you'd say for this year. Well, ideos Friday there it is.

When we come back. We will be back with more.

It's not ideos just yet, but it is an IDEO's Friday here on the Steelers Audio Network.

This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now here's Craig Wilfley and Max Starks.

Yes, it's time to go for the word of the day, and the word of the day is sapid, all right, meaning having a strong, pleasant taste. An example of a sentence would be Ruth was excited to show off the sapid flavor of a new bread recipe. If I would use it, if Max would use it, if Wesley would use it. What we're looking forward to is some sapid bangers and massive baby in Ireland.

That's what we want.

Yeah, how about it?

Mask it, love it, love it.

The sapid smells of the bangers and mash drowned out only by the cold, cold pints of guinness that would be served and enjoyed by all.

Indeed, I mean you gotta look forward to that. That is just so good.

You know what.

We just looked up the Thursday's injury report with the Eagles and though he's listed is having an illness, Jalen Carter, he was in full practice. But you know, hm, it might be something to watch as that progresses over the next forty eight seventy two hours.

Yeah, I mean little, you know, a little under seventy two hours from now, actually probably about closer to like sixty hours until game time. But you know, once again, if you gotta put a cork in it top or bottom.

You're do it. You gotta get it done. This is the Super Bowl.

This is this isn't Week three against the Browns, Jets, Jaguars, Panthers, insert any crappy team. This is for all the money. This is for immortality. This is why you You're playing for football immortality.

Your name will forever be etched.

In tiffany silver on a trophy and put in the annals of history.

That is the NFL. So guess what.

You suck it up, buttercup, and you make sure that you do whatever it takes to make sure that you are at your absolute peak by the time the ball kicks off in the Big easy and there's no excuses. And after walking around with you know, interviewing the player's wolf, Yeah, this week I was down there for Super Bowl Monday opening night, Monday night, down there in the Super Home, and you know, interviewing the Eagles and the Chiefs players, you could just since that this was a little bit different, especially on the Eagles side, like this was a business trip for them, like they weren't e late. I mean, you know the Chiefs, Hey, we come here every year. It's like our second home. Blah blah, blah. You know, they were a little bit more carefree because you know they've been there and until you beat them. You know, these guys hold the last two Super Bowl championships, reside in Kansas City.

Strike.

Yes, it's an historic thing and they're chasing history. So they're a little bit looser. But the Eagles players, they look determined, and you know, talking to Jordan Davis, you know, seeing the rest of the guys on that squad and.

Chatting with a few of them.

You know, the guys that came two years ago, you know, they were like, hey, listen, you know we kind of took it for granted, we were a little wide eyed and we didn't really understand it. But being back here, you know, two years later, there's more of an appreciation and there's more of a focus because we don't want to feel like we did two years ago. We want to make sure we exercise that demon. So you could see them kind of building towards that and the seriousness of it. So I think this is gonna be a really good game and a really tight matchup.

Well, fans, stay tuned because next up is the host of the Steelers Ireland podcast.

The Great Michael McQuaid.

I can't, can't. I can't do the Brogue like Wesley or Max. Can't I do it?

Mike McLean And there you go. He's coming up next. At the top of the Hours, the Possessionarro goes to Max as Optimist makes his runs in the Power Hour. Right here, don't go anywhere. It's the Final Friday, the final think about that, the final Friday of the twenty twenty four season. We'll be back with more on the Steelers Audio Network.
