This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and Cybersecurity Parker of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI.
And by Betex.
Where now meets next? Now here's Craig Wilfley and Max Starks.
Everybody loves Nanny, you know, tough love. He coaches everybody. Uh uh uff doesn't matter who you are. But you know when you make plays, you know he wants to celebrate with you.
Who do you love about it?
Just this quirkiness, his energy, uh you know, his intelligence, you know, just how he's able to, you know, scheme stuff up and you know you can really tell you know all that car.
You know.
The thing about it is Danny Smith is a special Teams treasure.
He really is. You know what you think about it?
Everything about how about the hit several years ago when he when he tore his rotator cuff on the sidelines, you know, I.
Mean, yeah, the guy you know he is energetic.
He is and first of all, he doesn't drink coffee, which is totally amazing because there's just no way anybody should have that much energy and not drink coffee.
But one of the.
Best things ever was was several years ago they had a throwback video on there of Danny working out in the Steeler's South Side gym right in the facility there. He's got his shirt off doing dumbbell lateral raises. I mean, the adults are popping on the man. The man is in front of the mirror with some of the boys down there doing.
Some lifting with him. It's great. You know.
I think I wonder if he was rehabbing his shoulder after getting wiped out on the sidelines there when he messed up his rotator cuff. But he is, as I said, this guy is a national treasure. Uh, Max, I gotta say, you wouldn't you suggest him maybe do some squats.
You know, maybe get some squat set.
Yeah, yeah, I think I think, uh, I think we uh.
We could do that.
But I mean listen, Jay Smith for his age, very fit, active man, oh very man. Probably one of the strongest jaws I've seen on a sixty eight year old man.
That since who was the uh the double oh seven guy with the big guy that had to steal jaws?
Oh yeah, lockjaw or something like that it was for Gullin or whatever.
Yeah, I know you're talking about Yeah, yeah, that's about it.
I think Danny could whip him.
Yeah, well I think I think I think you know, they both could buy could bite a piece out.
Of steel together. I think it'd be very easy. You know, you know it's so funny.
It was.
I was a big fan. I grew up and I was a big fan of strong men. You know, the old Strongman in the ten hundreds and everything like that. And there was the mighty Adam Joseph Greenstein who was like one hundred and forty five pounds or something like that and like, you know, five sounds. But this guy would bend steel, I mean serious steel.
He was a band of steel.
Yeah, pretty much. I mean he would bend nails. He would he bit a nail in half. Now think about that. You want to talk about jaw strength. I mean that's like incredible, you know he would.
I don't even that hurts, Yeah it does, it's too m your diet.
Well here here, well, here's one. My buddy Don Reinhout who passed away a couple of years ago. But Don was a four time world super heavyweight powerlifting champion from the nineteen seventies and he won the nineteen eighty one World Strongest Man title. You know, this guy was just unbelievable. But in his I believe it was in his fifties or late forties. He said again, his world record of doing a teeth lift, which is it's a deadlift with a chain to a mouthpiece that you bite down on. He did five hundred and fifty pounds.
Not think of it.
I'm sorry, what five hundred and fifty pounds this man did?
I mean?
I your deadlift? Yes, yes, it is. It's a special mouthpiece fitted your teeth.
It is special, all right, that's for sure.
But think about it.
It's changed of the deadlift dollar bar with five hundred and fifty pounds on it, and you lift it off the ground and lock your legs out. Lifting that thing off the ground with with just teeth, the jaws, the neck, the traps.
I mean, that's incredible.
Yeah, ude, dude, Like I I can't even I can't even visualize doing five point fifty with my arms, let alone my teeth or my jaws, you know what I'm saying.
Like, it's like absolutely not, absolutely not.
If I would have tried that with with my with my neck and by jaws, my entire spinal column would be on the ground, and my shoulders and everything would stand up. But my, my, my, my head, like my whole like torso is all on the ground that because there's no way, there's there's no way that's happening. And then you're like, man, hey, man, man, it sucks, you know, Max, you know, yeah, he's he's no, he's no longer here with us because he tried to do tried to do a two hundred pound y'all left.
You know what I'm saying, he's five fifty, he's doing greatly. He did, he get little teeth. Yeah, I wonder why.
I wonder what he's over to look like the double oh seven villain.
That's why, I mean, you know again, you know the world of the old times strongman was just fascinating me growing up, you know, because then I met Don, and Don was the strongest human being I've ever seen, ever been around.
I mean, I've seen him do just some amazing things. I saw him.
I saw him bench press with T shirt, none of these bench shirts and stuff like that. He did it with his feet up in the you know, you lay flat on the back and you put your feet up in the air, like you draw your knees.
Up, you know, and you just get flat. I saw him bench.
Six six ten with his feet up in the air with just a T shirt, you know, and in sweats. It's unbelievable. I saw him do a five seventy five incline.
Bench five hold on man five seventy five inclined incline on the incline, and it was a good incline, you know, I mean.
It wasn't absurd, Yeah, you.
Know, I mean, it's just incredible what this man used to do. I saw him dead what he did he did? He deadlifted nine hundred for a double. You know, this was back in early eighties, all right, that's not like today.
This is back in your early eighties, you know.
I mean, it's just it's crazy.
That's crazy.
Listen once again, I mean, those numbers don't surprise me. After telling me that the dude teeth the dude teeth dead lifted or dead teeth lift, don't even know how to say it, right, dead teeth lifted five seventy five or five point fifty, I'm like, you know what I mean?
The dude could The dude can do everything.
Like I'm surprised he did not play the incredible hault, you know what I'm saying. Like, I mean, at this point, Shot, I'm still reeling from that. First of all, and then you you said five seventy five on the incline press. Dude has no labors or they're made up or they're made out of iron.
You know what I'm saying.
Like he was just so strong. I mean again, you know, to see him do some of the things he did. I remember one time when I was training. I was in college with him, so it was like late seventies, and so I was I was supposed to deadlift six hundred for reps, right, So he said, I will do three reps of every rep you do. So I did, like, I don't know, like three reps. He did like nine or ten reps with six hundred easy. You know, like he's picking up a child, He's picking up this six hundred pound bar.
Yea, he I mean, he's he's he was your James Harrison.
Oh yeah, yeah, but he was way stronger than James even, you know, I mean it was I saw him. He never did standing presses. I only remember in all the years we trained together, you know, a standing barbell press, you know, yeah, he never he never trained it. He's for one day he got a wild hair, said, you know what, I'm gonna do some standing barbell press. The only problem was in the gym the roof was kind of low, so you had to like guide the barbell in between some of the rafters, you know, you know what I mean, So you had to position yourself.
Yeah, so he went up. He did.
He did reps with three sixty five, three seventy five with the collars on.
I mean what he had to aim it between the rafters. Oh my gosh.
But but here, here's the best part of all that, because you know, I've had this lifelong interest and stuff. So one of the things that Joseph Greenstein used to do was he would drive a nail through wood and then pull.
It out with his teeth right stop it.
Yeah, I know, Gus, since nobody's listening here now, yeah, he's a yeah, yeah, everybody's calling now because we haven't talked about it.
Open. So guess who gets the wild hair to see if you can do.
That guy who chipped his to You mean, the guy who chipped his tooth on a chicken wig is now.
Going to try and pull a nail through a board? Is that what you're telling? Okay, this is before You're right.
You're right, because you pulled it through the nail, you then had brittle or teeth.
That can be compromised by a chicken wig. You're right.
I drive the nail into the board, I start to pull it out with my teeth, and I my wife. My wife goes, you may be the stupidest human being on the flaps face of the planet.
Oh my god, oh god.
Oh okay, we gotta move on.
There's so many thoughts here. So yeah, we got We've got to move on. What what is our show? What do we do? Yeah? Max? Yeah, I'm sweating.
You know that that that piece of wood that Wolf chipped his tooth on, right.
Nail? Sorry? Yeah, you know what that? You know what that nail said to wolf after after wolf was done? Now go away?
Oh my god, yes, absolutely exactly, said exactly because it was just staring there, I mean, and then of course it evolves, right because then you go for wanting to pull that to trying to trying to bent galvanized steel horseshoes free time.
Not.
All I can say is that one went by the wayside. We were done with that after after I spit some tooth out.
Hold on, hold on, hold on here.
Ys can't bite nails.
They say you can chew on nails. No I couldn't. You can't. You can't prove it to myself. It's been myth busted. Was myth busting before? It was cool?
Yeah, exactly, it didn't work out, let me tell you. Oh, but to see Danny there pumping iron, that was great because this is a guy that it just infuses life into players. You know, you listen to him when he talks to the players, when he you know, gets them going during the Special Teams moments or whatever teams they're working on, and he is full of you know, brimstone and fire and everything else man getting him going. And he's high energy, you know, and he's just funny. You know, he just got a great sense of humor. But he is totally totally into the special teams and he is a driving force. And these guys love him. You know when you see after that that punt block or the kick Dean Lowry or whatever, and all the guys are like swarming Danny on the sidelines because he is that guy.
He is the Yoda of the special teams, no question.
Yeah, no, I mean Danny, he's solid. He like you said, full of energy, no surprise that he lists, waits and cares about his personal fitness like he does.
Uh. And like you said, I mean this is all that.
That's also you know, the body in the mind of a guy who knows how to orchestrate some blocks.
Huh. Guys, yes he does. There's no question about that.
He you know, that's that's a special thing because, let's face it, nobody really wants I do, not nobody, but very few guys really want to play the special teams, you know. I mean, you're in you, but you want to be a starter on offense or defense. That's what you look forward to. And a lot of times, as you get older, especially any any sort of special team work alongside of being a starter is is kind of tough, you know what I mean, It's it's not it's not easy, that's for sure, But you pay your rent, as Mike Tomlin would say on the Special until you become a starter.
And that certainly is something that everybody inim for.
But you know, it's in the you know, in the world of professional athletes in football, being a starter on the special teams isn't exactly what you want when you go in.
Yeah, no, I mean you know, it's a stepping stone. It gets you in the door. It allows you the opportunity to go make a team, and possibly by making that team, your your repeated efforts will be rewarded. Right, you know, the exposure to the coaches every day of doing things, whether it's look team, you know, filling in for somebody, that's the goal, right, But that but that conduit, that way to get to that when you're not the number one option special teams? Right, how can I make myself valuable to the team so that I could get a hat.
On game day? Special teams? True? Can you block? Can you rush? Can you cover? Can you tackle? Can you prevent tackles?
That's and it's all willingness and want to wolf all willingness and want to and those who do want to. Heck, you can make a career out of it. Hello, Miles killer brew Right.
Yeah.
Devin Hester made his living as as a return man, you know, and he was not known for his his wide receiving skills.
He did it a little bit, but right never never translated.
All that all that speed and vision, and it's only when a ball is like booted to him that he can really do that. Yeah, I mean it was. It was crazy because we you know, and I played against Devon a lot because I played against him. It was a University of Miami, okay, in Florida, and you know, we played them in the last two games of the year, our last two years that I was there, and deadly part. I mean, my senior year, we were down in Miami and dude, he he, he took this one yard on us and it I mean it looked like techmobile, like he like he was Bo Jackson.
I mean it was.
He went left, he went right, he went back left, turned back around right, went short left, then back right and then stutter step stopped. I mean it was I was like, what nobody could tackle this Dude's like a whack a mole, you know what I'm saying. And then he goes to the NFL and does it to everybody. You're like, oh, okay, so it wasn't as easy as I thought. Sitting on the sidelines drinking gatorade. Okay, never mind, you know exact, but it never But like you said, but that was a guy who specialized in that skilled trait and he was serviceable offensively, but was never as dominant as he was in special teams.
No, that's for sure. Absolutely all right.
You know we're gonna go to break because we got Jerry Dulac coming up in the it's the opening here in the locker room. We'll be back with more. You're listening to the Steelers Audio Network.
This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and Cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next, Now here's Craig Wilfley and Max Starks.
You know, well, when you hear that sound, you know what it is and you know who it is, and you know where it's coming from.
It's coming from the Great North working his way down south. And it is it is.
It is that cool embracings freeze of fall and no better time because that means it's football season. When you get when you get, the fall leaves a churn in like they are now finally and we are just cruising our weight through this week eight matchup week, and of course we are joined by the one, the only, Terry Dulac, who is brought to us by archie'es on Carson Street in the South Side, Pittsburgh's best place for food, beer and sports. And don't miss eighty cent wings Monday through Thursday. Enjoy a four hour twenty two ounce cours like draft during all the pins games. How are we doing today?
Jair Well? Max?
You know when I hear that music, I automatically think, oh my god, is it ten twenty am? Already on Thursday? It's time to go on with my two favorite people. Good Lord, the morning goes fast and always a delight to be with you boys, you.
Know that absolutely. And Jerry, I got to ask you something real quick. With all the hurricane action in Florida the last couple of weeks, have your favorite golf course is recovered?
Have you put out some feelers down there? You talked to.
Them, Wolf I did. I sent out the nine to eleven text to make sure everything was okay, and it seems that most of the ones that I frequent tend to be okay, Oh, you know, few limbs, a couple of trees here and there, but nothing terrible.
Oh good, that's good. Good to know.
Oh yeah, I have a question for you, Jared.
Have you played stream song at all? Oh?
I have?
I have?
Max, I don't know. Have you been there? I mean it is as a remote a location as you're going to find.
I've never, like, my buddies asked me about going to play it.
I was like, I had never heard of it.
Because obviously I've been out of order since that course has come online, and and they wanted to do a guye trip there, and I was like, I have no clue. I was like, the pictures look nice, but I have no clue where this is.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's it's a good spot. There's I think they just open a fourth course there. So there's four courses and that's all there is. There is a lodge, uh and two clubhouses and four golf courses, and it's a good place for one of those because you can't go anywhere anywhere else. There's nothing nearby.
Okay, all right, all right, so so yeah, so definitely that's the one where you send the sos to your wives after after five days if you get lost and you can't make it back to the airport, that's right, that's right.
Got it, got it?
But you know, Max, Max the place, the place is so remote that I can't remember the name of the adjoining city. But I kid you not. It's something like Desolate Florida, you.
Know, yeah, or like right next to Isolation.
But I kid you not, that's how remote it is.
Wow, Okay, all right, well then all right, I will bring my compass rose with me when I got.
To find that place.
But I was just thinking about it because I was like, I was like, I wonder because I know you've played a lot of places in Florida, going to visit your daughter and every and everything down there in the Greater Orlando Central Florida area.
No, that's his job. He's got to go play golf courses in the off season. You know.
Yes, well, thank you, thank you for mentioning it, because when we were a streame song, I was down there to do a radio show, so that was actually, uh, how and why I was there. Yes, it's located somewhere between Orlando and Tampa, next to Desolate, Florida or whatever the name of that sound.
Florida. I love that, oh man.
All right, jar, well, we will hop into into the business at hand, and that is, of course, uh, the week this week leading up to the game Monday night against the New York Giants, and just kind of you know, reaction to some of the injury news. You know, Montreve's Adam goes on the ir deciding of CJ. Hnderson to kind of protect him from other teams poaching off of off of other rosters. What else have we heard injury slash health from the team this week?
Well, I think the most troubling one is I've been told that Roman Wilson aggravated that hamstring injury. And you know, the guy who was you know what, he played five snaps two gamesos. He didn't play. He didn't play the other day. I mean, he was listed on Thursday as as having a hamstring injury, but then when I asked Mike Tumblin about it Tuesday, he seemed to dismiss the idea that it was a hamstring injury. It was just that because he sat out practice, you know, with a young guy who's way behind anyhow, that's why he didn't dress for the game. But if in fact he has aggravated that hamstring injury. Well you can put him out for a few more weeks and like I said, put him even further behind. So but you know, Wednesday, you know, in a week with a Monday night game, might as well be an off day. And by that, I mean you know they're not going to do Nobody of significance is going to practice. I was actually surprised at Russell Wilson practiced yesterday, to be honest, I just figured as a thirty five year old guy, you know, he wouldn't want to practice. But he's a lot like Cam Heyward. You know it's good you have a tough time taking him off the field. I mean even when he was even when he was out as the emergency third quarterback. You know, you see him on the field dressed in full pads, going through the motions, even you know when he's not in the lineup. And because that's just a a guy that he is. So you know, they they have an extra practice this week. So I didn't expect yesterday to be anything revealing at all.
Well let me ask you, Jared, because you mentioned Russell Wilson, have we still got quarterback controversy? Is that the biggest part of the press conference yesterday.
No, that's what was surprising about it on Yeah, Tuesday, That's what was surprising about it, Wolf, is that there wasn't one question really effectively asked about the situation at quarterback until the end, and that Will Graves from the Associated Press said, Mike, just to clarify, would Will Russell Is Russell Wilson going to be the starter? I mean, I think if anybody hasn't figured it out by now, shame on them. But I think you know. But but Will was asking it just as a matter of course, and then Mike gave some dismissive, comical answer, you know that like I can't remember what the heck it was, but it was kind of like basically what he was saying is, yeah, I think that's the case. But you know, again, fellas, you know, this has been the plan all along, and you know, we were having a debate the other day. I can't remember, Oh, I tell you what it was. It was on Monday night. Quarterback is if Russell Wilson struggled in that game, would have he gone back to Justin Fields? And two of my co host Tim Bens and Tom Bradley thought they would he would and I said, no, he wouldn't. He was going this was way the way they want to go. And one out of respect to him as a veteran, and but two, if this is their plan, they want him to play. And I said, if he struggled or continued to struggle as he did in the first first quarter, that he would let him play through it, because they won him in their lineup. And I said, no, he would not have taken him out of that game. Now, of course, it's all a mood point because we saw how he responded, and that's kind of what Mike Tomlin thought what happened. But no, this is their plan and this is the guy they want playing quarterback. And I think what we have seen too, Fellas is I think Justin Fields has actually played himself into a job with another team based on the way he played in the first six games. I think he has probably shown other teams around the league that hey, you know what this guy isn't isn't going to be a bad pickup if we can get him in free agency. Look, I can't tell you right now whether the Steelers are going to sign both quarterbacks. I think Justin Fields, who's going to be a free agent, would say, would think, hey, look, I showed that I can do this, and if it's not going to be here, I'm going to go somewhere else, maybe where I can compete for the starting job. So I think that's what we're kind of looking at right now. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but I think that's kind of what. You know, If Justin Fields doesn't play another game, maybe a snap or two, but another game the rest of the year, I bet he find I bet he's earned himself a job somewhere else.
You don't, Jerry, I find that that that like that, that's definitely very interesting, And I just I find it tough to think that Justin would there wouldn't be a package for him built in later as a season progress, especially.
When we get into it.
I agree with him.
I agree with you.
Yeah, I mean, and I think you know I and I feel like I know I know now now now we're getting into the off season, postseason, you know, discussion. I would just find it hard to not look at him as a future option. But just because he's so young, right and there is still a lot of skill and ability left to let that guy leave the building.
You know what I'm saying, Like I would just make it. It'd be a tough one.
Yeah, Hey, look, I'm with you, but I'm I'm going to look at it from from Justin Fields's perspective. Now, let me back up and say this to you, which I think I have said to you before, and if I haven't, I've apologized for getting confused as to which audience I've made this reward. But as you know, Fellas, I subscribe to the Billy Crystal philosophy that I don't need new material, I just need new audiences every exactly. But I was told before the season that both Russell Wilson and the Steelers intend to sign a deal after the season, a longer deal. How long I don't know, but that's what I was told. Both sides intend to Now what if Russell Wilson bombed out this year, would that would that still apply? I don't know, but that's what I was told from both sides that they intend to do a deal. So let's just say that happens. Then, if you're Justin Fields, you want to come back and sit for another year just playing certain packages. If some other team you're a free agent. Now, if some other team makes you a nice offer, and I'm with you, Max, if they you know, if Russell Wilson continues the way they hope and maybe we somewhat might expect, then yeah, if you can have both those quarterbacks, absolutely that would be a good deal. And you look at the Steelers history, they want at least two good quarterbacks on their team, and sometimes three. That's why they try to get a veteran even such as Kyle Allen go back to the Charlie Batch Byron Leftwich days behind Ben. The Steelers believe the quarterback is not only the most important position in the NFL, it's the most important position in sports. And they don't want to get caught if there are injuries. And so that's why after Kenny Pickett through his fit and they traded him, they went and got Justin Fields because they believe in having a really good, solid backup quarterback. And yeah, I think that would be the ideal plan. Uh And but but would Justin Fields want to come back if there's a possibility of a better opportunity somewhere else. And again I'm getting way ahead of myself, but my point was, after the way he played for six games, he enhanced his reputation around the league and made him he made himself more attractive because, let's face it, there weren't a lot of teams beating down his door to get him during the offseason, and that's why the Steelers were able to get him for a sixth round pick, which now might end up being a fourth round pick because of how much he's played. But I think his I think his marketability has has improved greatly based on just those six games.
You know, Jerry, let me let me get your reaction to this.
I was so impressed with the way he kept his composure that being Russ kept his composure because he was just, you know, a couple of throws from that crowd getting kind of ugly, you know what I mean. And and yet he was yeah, and he just stayed calm, cool, told Mike, Hey, I'm gonna heat up and like a true pro. And this is what I try to relay to people about having that guy in the huddle, a guy like you know, Terry Bradshaw, guy like Ben Roethlisberger. Guys like that that, you know, they're Hall of Fame worthy, they're they're great they're gonna pull it together, and you you believe, You buy in and believe because you've seen it before and you expect to see it again. And and that was one of the best things about Russ doing that, was how he pulled it together and performed like the future Hall of Famer that that we know him to be.
Yeah, well, if you're one hundred percent right, and and it it was, it could have gotten ugly. We already heard after that, what was a three straight three and outs Right after the opening field goal drive, we heard a smattering of boost and that was the justin fields crowd, you know, the people who thought he shouldn't make that move who And you knew that was going to be a possibility because look after not playing all year, not playing in a big time game since Christmas of last year, that Russell Wilson was going to be rusty, no matter how much of a professional he is, and that he prepares, he was going to be rusty. That he bounced back the way he did really a surprising fourteen to twenty one, two forty five, two touchdowns after that, I mean, it was it was, you know, kind of remarkable.
In a way.
And props to him. But that's why I think after those three three and outs, that's why I think that forty four yard passed on the sideline to George Pickens was a big play for the Steelers, for rust and for the crowd. That kind of got everybody back interested again. And yeah, Beanie Bishop's interception, Yes, that turned the game around because the Steelers then score touchdown and at the half it's fifteen thirteen, and then of course that starts the thirty one unanswered points. But I think that that completion to Pickens was a big moment for Russ and the team and the crowd because it stopped the murmuring and it got everybody back into the game a crowd included.
Yeah, No, you're absolutely right.
I mean in the crowd because listen, they got a bit restless. They definitely let their feelings known. It was an emotional night. But you know, I look at that and I say, that's the resiliency of a guy who's been in this league thirteen years.
Right, words don't bother him.
He looked unflustered on the sidelines even while all of that was going on, the team also did not look panicked. You know what, I'm saying, So that's where I was like, this is what the resolve of veteran leadership looks like. And we haven't had that veteran leadership for a number of years on the offensive side of the ball. We've had the defensive leadership, right, I mean, because Cam Hayward's been here, TJ Wat's been here, and you've had guys that you've brought in that have kind of towed that load, you know, like the Miners of the world and been there. But offensively, we've been such a young squad on the offensive side of the ball.
And you know, even with Justin there, like Justin is.
Old DIRB, but he's not as old as some of the other guys on the team, like he was in the same draft classes as a number of those guys. So it was really cool to kind of see Russ commit and there become like a calm over the sidelines chair. And I think that is that's a benefit of having that veteran leadership. I do want to ask you this about the other side of the ball, the defense side of the ball, and just kind of Sunday night, just knowing having the Super Bowl nine team there and then having Donny Shell there and then Cam Hayward there to tie Donnie Shell's record for the most starts by defensive player for the Steelers. Just talk about just kind of that aspect of it throughout this game, from a defensive perspective and from.
Cam Hayward's value to this team and the defense.
Well, Max, I'm glad you brought that up, because I actually talked to Cam exactly about that yesterday. You know, these two hundred and nine games or two whatever break in the record for a defensive player. Actually, the symmetry of Donnie Shell in that game I thought was Beanie Bishop. And I say that because you're talking about two undrafted players the War number thirty one, Donnie Shell and Beanie Bishop, and Beanie Bishop makes two the big interceptions as we know, and the one changed complexion of the game. So I'm not saying that was Donnie Shell's influence, but I actually thought that was kind of the kind of the cool symmetry that existed in that game. But but you know, Cam being able to play all these years. I was looking this up last night, and I'm fairly certain he is fourth or fifth. I think he's fourth among active players with the most games played not counting special teams guys kickers and punters, because there's three or four of those in the league who are just you know, hanging around. But I mean guys non special team players, special teams players. And you know, when you look at the all time list, there's enough defensive linemen in front of Cam who have played more games. But most of those players, even though there's he's way down that list, the defensive linemen are still not among the majority when you look at all the player in their career games, and uh, you know what good for camp? And this is a guy, this is a guy who's had a couple significant injuries and missed time, and yet he's been able to bounce back and bounce back in a big way after he's missed games seasons with injuries. And this is this season is another example.
You know, last thing for me, Jery, I got it real quickly. I know you got to get going here. But a beanie.
Bishop got those two footballs? Right?
Were you as surprised as I was at Aaron Rodgers agreed to sign him.
I was surprised. I didn't think of that. It was no way I thought, you.
Know what, Wolf when I saw his answer to that, I thought, yeah, he'll sign him, right, he asked he was asked on TV, goes, yeah, I'll do it. Yeah, when he does it, I'll be impressed. But until then, I just think that was a dismissive comment on his part. So because he was put on the spot, yeah, I'll do it.
The thing is Pat McAfee kind of intervened, caught him on the show.
You know what I mean? On his show?
Oh okay, Yeah, I got a feeling that I don't know, I'd be surprised if he does it now because he stated on National TV. But you're right, yeah, I should wait until he actually does it, right.
Wait, I'll wait until Aaron Rodgers does it before I go. Wow, what a swell.
Got Yeah, excellent? Oh my gosh, all jar.

Stark's Rogers gets a snap straight back, looking steps up, still looking.
Nowhere to go into your sack, larryogn joby back at the seventeen yard line.
Yeah, you know what sacked friendly could be this week? You think about it. The Giants last week against the Eagles, they gave up eight sacks in the twenty eight to three loss to the Eagles. The left tackle of the Giants, Andrew Thomas, was out, so you got Joshua Iszudu replaced him. And I don't know if that's I pronounced his name correctly, hopefully I am. But anyhow, fifty eight snaps, two sacks, three pressures. Hello Alex high Smith. You ready for a big game. Baby. You gotta get after this guy. You got to chase him out of the stadium. And this is the guy, Alex Highsmith that can do it. I'm telling you something, Max, I'm feeling some mojo this early, already in the week.
Well listen, and we say it's early in the week because we're playing on Monday, right, So.
But no, I'm with you. I'm with you.
I mean Alex for his first action back against the Jets, I mean just look look, look he looked like the.
Missing piece right right.
I mean it felt like, you know what, our circle is complete, guys, our circle has been fulfilled. And the circle, yes, the circle of pain trust, Yes, the circle of pain trust.
Has has has been has been now you.
Know, reformed, and you know it was just great to just watch Alex off the hedge, working, you know, hard on that left side to make it you know that strong side again, right left side, strong side. What was that we are the Titans, remember the Titans or something like that they would make that statement. Yeah, but yeah, no, I feel like I feel like a big game is a bruin and no better time than Monday night football.
I'm just saying, no, better time exactly. Think about it. You got the crowd, you got the premiere stage in the NFL, the Monday night football, right, you got. I mean, it's all there, there's you can't hype it any more than this.
And then to smell blood in the water like that.
Eight sacks, eight sacks the Eagles got on them. And the fact is you got a young guy there that had some issues, had some problems, right, and Alex Heismith is definitely a guy that will give you some issues and give you some problems if you're already having issues and problems as the starting left.
Tackle Fee five foe fun I smell the blood of Daniel jones Son.
Oh, I think that's a wrap. Good job. We're gonna give you better than that. You just come out and you just you got poetry going boom boom, boom boom. It's poetical. That's what we'll do.
We'll go to break now because Max came up in the Power Hour. But I just you can't beat that send off there. That was good. So from the locker room and the poet himself, Max Starks. You're listening to the Steelers Audio Network
