Hr2: Steelers Nation Reaction

Published Jan 13, 2025, 5:00 PM
The locker room opens up the phone lines to talk to Steelers Nation about the end of the season.

If this is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now here's Craig Wolfley and Max Stark's.

Alright in our number two here, and it's called the Power Hour. Ah Optimus, Oh, how I missed the.

Coming by second hour?

Just not picking us up or not dropping off any victory donuts.

Just blowing by us, brother, just blowing by.

You know, misery muffins galore.

Real quick? Can I can I make it? Decree right now?

Go ahead? Okay, we do it.

Can we do a donut Friday this week at the end of the week.

Oh yeah, I think we.

All deserve it.

I don't know that we deserve it, but.

We deserve it, all right, Okay we deserve.

Yes, Well, we've earned it. Okay, we've earned.

We've been patty, we've earned it. Like Max says, we've been patiently waiting. It's not going to be a victory donut Monday. It's going to be a We finally made it to Friday donut Friday. How about that?

Yeah, surviving Friday donut.

You know what today is losing liver Monday.

Monday muffins, not like good Monday misery muffins like dry.

Oh my now, my wife makes really good liver stuff, you know, but I just couldn't handle it yesterday. I mean it's one of those you get your seeking comfort, you get home finally, and there's nothing comforting about liver. No, there isn't. It's if it's done right, it's really good. But it's not like a seeking comfort food. You know, it's not like hign. I mean, let's face it, it's like, hey, I'm healthy food. You know. That's kind of what it feels like exactly. And you get the good onions and stuff like that. That's it's okay. Just in case my wife is listening, you.

Know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, in case your lifting listening. I will always be there for sushi bomb, but I will not be there for liver Sundays. Okay you're wondering, Yeah, I am okay with that. Also, we need to open up the phone lines for Steeler Nation. All right now disclaimer here, Okay, for all of you out there, Steeler Nation. We are here to listen to game thoughts, promotions, you know, kudos not kudos. But you know one thing I'm just not going to tolerate today. We can talk about this later, still too fresh. I don't want to hear about who all needs to be fired. I don't need to hear about who needs not needs to be resigned this And I don't want to hear about people being bums or anything like that. Like I don't want those negativities on my airways. You can take that to other stations, not here. I can tell you that right now. I promise you I will hang up on you very quickly. And you know, I think for all of us involved, you know, you know, even as close as we are, there's understand these are also.

Human beings as well.

Okay, guys, let's let's not dehumanize the situation and everything else.

Okay, keep it, there we go.

I said that, yeah, keep it, keep it classy, Pittsburgh.

There you go. You know that's right.

So with that phone line number four one two nine three one six, we want to hear from you Steeler Nation, you know, because I mean, hey, listen, the season's over. Uh, the run is over for this for this iteration of the Steelers. So let's let's let's let's let's turn the positives. You know, let's look at the season that was. You know, obviously a lot of missed opportunities, but a lot of highlights, a lot of good things that we saw throughout this seaon and so let's kind of have that grown up adult conversation without without it.

Turning, you know, into vitriol. Guys.

So I want to make sure I say that right there, wolf, okay?

Was that good? Was that good? Was I was? On part of there? I'm brand okay, all right there? It is okay?

Because I don't want to to throat punch anybody. I really don't. It's very you know, it hurts the further it comes. I mean, I'm two thousand miles away, So to throw punch my mister fantastic arm, you know, has a lot of stretching to do. So let's let's let's keep that at a minimum. I like my elbows.

Optimists can get that throat punch here quickly.

Yeah, that's right, that's right, that's right.

You see, you see, optimus optimist does not slow down either. He might speed up if he's a speed bump.

You know, yeah, exactly, exactly, yeah, all.

Right, one of the things I do want to do later in this week, Wolf, Yes, yes, season superlatives.

Oh yeah, and this is.

Not the traditional like oh my god, this guy hit the most sacks and this, that and the other. We need to come up with the list, Wes, you included top five things for superlative your own list. It could be anything, got it?

You know, right?

It could you know, just for example, best pull, you know on a counterplay, whatever you want. I mean, it can be as crazy as was best best, best laugh, best whatever. This is our like end of the year yearbook style, you know type of deal where you know, it's like you look at the yearbook like hey, you know, most likely to succeed, you know that type of stuff, like those kind of crazy like superlatives. That's what I want to do. Five each for Wednesday. Okay, got the assignment? Okay, Wesley, Okay, there it is there.

It is for.

Wednesday, Weddness Day.

Wait, you know what, I like having forty eight hours for the homework assignment?

But who am I kidding? I'll just procrastinate to the last minute.

I say, you're not gonna do it till Tuesday night, ten fifty nine pm.

I mean, like actually.

Right before.

Look out, maybe.

My senior quote in my yearbook was if it wasn't, if it couldn't be accomplished in home room, it wasn't meant to be done.

It wasn't.

Actually, but that's probably what it should have been.

That works, no doubt. Absolutely, it can't be done in home room.

It wasn't meant to be done.

Same thing with lunch, you know, yeah, I will, I will say that.

You can feel Max rolling his eyes.

Well, well, here you go.

I just had a teacher striker.

All right. My senior year there was a teacher strike and and they had to keep the school open. So then you get you know, teachers coming in at the you know, replacement teachers. And then you know, you got some like you got home the home ed stuff teaching like mathematics or something, you know what I mean. So really all it was was I just went to a couple of lunches a day and went to gym class a couple of times. You know, what are you gonna do? I mean he had to do something because I couldn't. I had to make sure I graduated because you know, going on to college after. But you know, it was kind of it was a little unusual, but I really I excelled both in both lunch lunch lunch sessions. Man, I was really good. I killed it. Were you good at lunch? You were really good before you swallowed? Yes, I mean I was just I consumed a lot. It was really good. Consumption is my my game, you know. Yeah, yes, Well I believe you. I've not stunned you into silence.

I've just you know, you guys have been like just on a tear, you know.

Uh huh.

So I'm just I'm just letting you guys be okay because I feel like, you know that that's what the that's what the fairness dictates, that's what it should be. So I'm just gonna let it be because I'm still trying to trying to figure out my stuff, you know, and trying to trying to trying to keep my emotions in check.

I think is the biggest thing. Well, exactly, you know, you got to set the example if we want people to keep it classy. As they're piling up right now, they're piling up on the on the board here, we got calls in so is we tell.

You know, you guys see the board, so yeah, you guys got to do it.

Okay, Well, the first one up is Scott. Scott, you're in the locker room, buddy, Hello, Scott, how you doing.

Okay? Thanks for a good year.

Work.

I've been waiting all year to ask you guys a question switching so because I just don't get doing a left handed layup.

Uh huh No, I'm sorry, Scott. You we got you gotta call about.

Broderick Jones switching, switching sides, try us back, Scott connections.

Connection was just wonky, bud, Sorry about that. Yeah, if it had to do with Broderick Jones not being moved to the left side when Danny Moore got hurt. Look, you don't want to move two guys for one position. If you can just move one guy, that's it. Broderick has been grooved on that right side all along. For people that say, well, you know, it's a good time to experience, get some experience left tackle. No, it's not all right. You're in the middle of a freaking playoff game and it's not the time to be doing stuff like that. We're gonna go back to Scott. See if Scott's there, Scott, you in there, buddy, Yeah, we got you. Can you hear me now? I can hear you now, Scott.

Okay, it is about Broderick Jones. It's just in general, I don't get what's so hard about switching sides. And I busted my wrist and I didn't have a problem in the bathroom. I uh, you know, I taught people to do left handed layups and you know, martial arts stuff. It's not hard to switch your stances. It's just the bunches have changed. What's hard about switching side is an offensive tackle?

Well, you know what, Max? How about you? Because you had to do that.

I mean it's a it's a skill set that you have to you know, you have to be ready for it, and it does take time. I mean there is a there is a skill set with it, and some guys can't make that transfer in their head, you know, as easy as you'd like. I mean, sometimes guys just get conditioned to going one way over the other.

Is it like, so.

Layup instead of a right handed.

Correct correct very similar. Yeah. The one thing I'll add that is when you have to learn to play inside out on the wide rushers, it takes a period of time to acclimate to getting the proper angle and seeing the blitzes from different angles, you know, because everything that's you know, certain stunts that go from the outside in on the left side are it could be from the inside out on the right side, you know. I mean, they're just different. So it takes a little bit of time to get yourself feeling confident and strong in those positions. And sometimes you know how you know, So, so what style of fight of martial arts you training?

I did some stick fighting. My wife has been a black belfer got a couple of decades, and I'm always doing funny dynamics stuff for her.

Okay, so so you've got a little bit of stick fighting, and that's that's great stuff. The problem is if you go and switch up your you know, with the sticks right handed only For me, I had a lot of problems with that. And I know some people they easily acclimate to it. It's something that they do, you know, can do either way. They're very able to you know, bilateral whatever that that the verbiage would be for it, they're able to acclimate to it. I didn't. I couldn't. I was too stupid or whatever, you know, just the way it is. But it just took more time, more reps, and some guys don't get enough reps before they're pressed into that situation.

Yeah, but I'll bet you.

Could do it with your feet.

It would just get your hands right.

Well, the problem is, I got to tell you, I always felt weird on to the right of Mike Webster. Mike Webster was the center back in my day. I'm left handed. I was very comfortable from a left handed stance, and then when I switched to the opposite side, I was very uncomfortable in a right handed stance because I didn't want to go and a left handed stance on the right side because it was too it did not lend itself to feeling good and balanced on that side. That's the only thing I can tell you, And go ahead, Max's or anything you want to add.

No, I think also, it's just biomechanics wise, right, Like once your mind is wired there and you're just like the same thing if you've done the same thing five thousand times in a row, and then now you're saying, all right, now, I need you to do it the other direction, same type of process, right, you know, Bruce Lee always said, if you know you master the one kick a thousand times, or do you a thousand kicks one time right, which one's going to stick better? That's the same way. You have to kind of process it, right. You have to process it that he's had all of these reps this way and then to ask him to then go switch it and do it in reverse. It's not as easy as everybody thinks it is. Like you know, there's a biomechanical process that has to go in, Like you have to actually cross train constantly to get that comfort. Now, if he's doing five hundred right, then five hundred left sets, five hundred more, five hundred over here, that's different. But in the season, like these are fixed positions, like once you're the starting right tackle, you're not doing backup left tackle snaps, you know in season like there, yeah, there's a there's a practice squad guy that's taking those left tackle snaps with the second squad and everything else. So that's why it's not as easy as people could think.

Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna takes a couple of weeks and transfer anyway. I don't want to keep you from everybody else.

Thanks a lot, guys, Thanks Scott. I appreciate it, man, I appreciate the conversation. And the number is four one two one six and keeping it classy Pittsburgh. We've got Mike in the locker room. Mike, you are in the locker room, my friend. What's up? Mike? How you doing? Hello? How you doing just fine? All right? What you got?

Well?

Not much.

I just wanted to say, it's kind of sad what happened with Harry. I was going to enjoy having you guys long on the radio.

Yeah. We were looking forward to a deep run.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I definitely I had I had it in my plans too.

Because I always you guys every day because I'm a FedEx driver and you guys make my week go by.

Fay.

Just hear you guys in the radio every day.

Deeply appreciate it. Thank you.

Be grateful of not having our Max and Craig on the radio. But at least I got author motes and.

Yes you do, I w vu Wesley Yula.

We will still be doing two days a week, so maybe not every day in the FedEx truck, but hopefully enough to help you out a little bit, right.

But I just wanted to say it was enjoy here Craig and Max all all week during the season. So I hope you guys have a save off season.

Thank you very much, appreciate you. You don't know, there's a lot of choices to be made out there. You can listen to a lot of different shows. And the fact that you would come aboard Stealers Nation and listen to Max and I were deeply appreciative and thank you. Right, so have him my day, all right, brother, that's it, Thank you very much, appreciate it. Yes, indeed. Okay, let's see where are we at here, Wesley? All right, right there, We've got Doug. Hello, Doug from Georgia. You're in the locker room, Dougie.

Hey, great, Hey, good morning.

How are you.

I'm doing fantabulous? How you doing?

Oh?

Much better than I deserve?

And it's it's my birthday today.

Happy birthday, Oh, happy birth listen hold on, hold on, okay, that's all we can afford to play. Yeah, that's all we can afford to play. Okay, But.

Yeah, I love it.

I love it, thank you very much.

Oh yeah, man, I love your show.

Love your show.

Thank You's the show, yes.

You know, just like the FedEx guy. Yeah, it makes my day go so much smoother. Thank you, appreciate the thanks you giving everything. And oh yeah it was you know, I had great season. I love the Steelers.

I love them man, and.

I know they they work hard, and you know, I mean it's just a tough game. They were so close. You know, I probably lost I don't know, I probably least ten pounds watching this season because I mean my heart ray was high all the time. And you know that that's great. You know they were in it. I would say they were in it almost what ninety nine percent of the time.

Right until they hit.

You know, yeah, yeah, but they were close then too. You know, just a few plays could have been a difference. You know. I just love I just love watching them and and uh, you know they need a nice rest and then you know it's gonna be in their hearts to improved and next year. You know, it's just you know, if you play sports, and I know the one course said, you know, switch the guy over, it's not that easy. That's like saying, you know, right hand goffin and you're gonna switch.

The left hand.

It takes a while. Absolutely I could program that brain. I can't hit a golf ball on either side.

Ah, sure you could.

Yeah, sure you could.

Sure you could.

Can I tell you something, Trust me, brother, when I tell you I lacked and find motor skills. That's why I became an offensive lineman.

Golf needs to weigh about three hundred pounds to be wearing a helmet.

There you go.

I tell you I could at least teach you how to put and probably chip.

There you go. Yeah, how about that minuture golf? I can do that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you could do it. Where's a will? There's a name, right maybe?

Well. The only one that I had trouble with was I was playing up at Nemicoll and we had the woofly family up there, and of course there's boys against girls, and it was the windmill was a problem, you know what I mean, the windmill. I can't I can't tie in the windmill. Yeah me too.

Yeah that's hard, that's hard. Yeah, it's lucky. But uh yeah, I know a lot of the people are waiting. But yeah, you know, I love Mike Tomlin. You know, he's a great coach. So yeah, I don't want to hear any negativity, you know, after every loss, you know, I just got tired of here.

Now.

I don't know how you guys could uh stand it, you know, so uh.

Yeah, so ah, but I don't speak to you again.

We'll talk to you next year and uh have a good vacation, and uh love you.

Guys, Thank you, brother, appreciate you. We said our love too to you and all Steelers Nation. Absolutely. Yeah.

Man, with that, we're going to step aside. We'll be back with more here inside the Locker Room on the Steelers Audio Network.

This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and Cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now here's Craig Wilfley and Max Starks.

All right, we're back in the locker room. And of course the phone lines are just staggering right now. They are piling up like Cordwood. Let's go to Ricky. Hey, Ricky, you're in the locker room. Buddy, Hey, Hey, good morning.

How y'all doing.

Here? We doing good? Ricky can't a play right hey man?

Listen, man, look I know it ain't look that we want it and we wanted more out of this, and I get it, but hey, we gotta look at the pass out of thing. We may play off forty cs e O with, so hey, who goes to that? And I know this off season, we got a lot of stuff to do as far as what peoples we're gonna keep the next season, what what we're gonna bring back, what we're gonna let go. And I just feel like we need to keep the most, We keep the most what the world looking for here, the most predominent that want to help with this season, keeping bring that back, to keep being to the puzzt so we can keep building this how they were building. They make it to the super Bowl. You know, I don't say hats out to the rat Birds, but hey, let's just be honest. You know, they finally beat the Big Brothers, so the Big Brothers up in it. They finally be they finally got pasted it and they did what they have to do. But at the end of the day, you know, I'm still not gonna root for them. I'm sorry, I won't, but you know, close to them, and yeah, man, so as far all season going next season, I'm really I'm really looking forward to it. I've seen a lot of positive the sing a lot of niggas, I've seen a lot of positive what can get better? So what do y'all think? How do y'all think we'll go forward? As in progression of all season?

Well, I think I think you know and I appreciate the question, and I think you know you're absolutely right. I mean, the off as far as off season is concerned, I think you know this. This is you know, for the Steelers and for you know, most of the teams that aren't in the playoffs. Going into the division round weekend, the business of football season starts and that means, you know, evaluating what your current contract situation looks like, like who is signed through when you know who's on the team most immediately through next year, and then who's who's the next group after that? And then of course, how do you address the guys that are up after this year? You know, you know, what are the most immediate needs, like where's their contribution versus what we're looking for in draft and free agency? And now all of those lists are getting are getting you know tabulated. You know, the scouts have been out in the field all season, watching the other teams, watching college kids and compiling you know, their own lists, doing their mock drafts. You know, where does this guy fall, what's his round grade? What's the value you know for these different players? And then you know, versus free agency, who has expiring contracts, like who's up after this year? And you know what does that field or that market for each position group look like? And who are the thirsty lions right you know that are going to be overpaying and over zealous at the beginning.

And where will you find the value? Guys?

You know that second, third, fourth week of free agency, and is it a very deep free agency class at a position or is it a very shallow class? If you're looking for that guy, you know, his values going up. The demand is going to go up, right, supply versus demand. So this is all the stuff that's now starting to just starting in his infancy right now. But that's that's the best way. I mean, Omar and Andy have done a great job along with our scouting staff, along with Sheldon White, along with you know Sato, Ike Brunner, all those guys, Hodgi, all the guys in there. You know there there's gonna be Kofe and all those guys, they're all gonna be be talking and communicating and figuring it out because, like you know, just as fast as they turned over the roster, you know, year one, when when when Omar took over. I mean, do you have fifty four new faces out of ninety five and you had another forty plus this past season, right, So they could churn this roster over and get guys in here. But it's like finding the right guys, finding the right fit to come in here and want to compete and want to be those guys. I mean, think about who we got Phrasy last year. Who would have thought we were gonna get Patrick Queen right right? But we got Pat Queen right and we were able to we were able to red rover.

Him on over and and get him.

And so get Dante Jackson, make you know, make a trade for him. Send Deontaey there for Dante. You know, also finding Deshaun Elliet like and look at what the impact these guys had for this.

Team in their first year being a part of it.

So you know, I have a lot of faith in that front office group to go find those guys.

But you know, the earnest Is.

A lot of attention was made to the defense, and I still think we still need another defensive lineman. You know that we're gonna have to look for this offseason. But I think you know, now you start looking at refining and deepening the offensive side of the ball. We got the offensive line squared away, I think, and we have good depth there. Now let's turn our attentions and I think at tight end we're good as well. But let's turn our attentions to the wide receivers. Let's figure out the running back situation. Let's figure out the QB situation, because because right now, no quarterback is under contract except I think Kyle Allen has one more year, but Fields and Wilson both done on their contracts, So now you got to figure out what you're gonna do there. Then of course nause is up as well, so you still have Jalen I believe, I'm not I can't remember if Cordero was a one year or a two year deal. So we got to figure out some those skill positions. So that's what that that's the job that's now gonna happen. That that's what's gonna start. You know, you into your exit exit meetings this past couple of days, the next couple of days, and the week and a half and then now business and football season starts.

That's right, and so hey, you broke it down just how we're thinking it, exactly how we're thinking, especially with the over the D line position, because of course we know we don't know how long kind of cacter but after his contractors up, we'll know if he's gonna stay or key going. And who do we need who need to add on to that piece of the puzzle. I was just thinking in my mind, if we all gonna bring in somebody, I will say we need an aim for not not saying we don't need anybody skill at that position. We need like a like a hog body at that position, just something back to make one block, to need two more blocks and help block that way you could cag the the to fit. That's just me how I'm thinking out the top of my head. But I trusted still all I've been, still a fancy now that I love the black and gold. Ain't nothing to change over here with me, and I know we're gonna progress and office, I know we're gonna get better, So I just want to say this, man, thank y'all for y'all show. If I listen y'all for the past two years, and just like the fatas guy, listen to y'all on the road too. I mean, I'm working nice. I listen to y'all as I'm talking to y'all as I speak. So who knows y'all y'all help my football now, get more depth, understand how it's really really going, and not look at the game better perspective versus looking at it as in, we didn't do this, we gotta do that, but looking at why they happen when it happened. So thanks to y'all. If I could see y'all though this, I.

Would you appreciate that, Ricky, we appreciate it, man, hold it down at g A fors baby.

Always much little still the nation rising, Let's go.

That's it. Thank you so much. A good job, man. That was excellent. I love calls like that, especially when they end up with doughnuts being talked about.

You.

That's just great, all right, we got it.

He could always bribe us with good confectioneries. You know.

That's what I loved about Franco when he had the donut You know what I mean the Uh.

Yes, we know you used to used to steal those all the time. Hey, my face was on those for a while, so I know, I know, I know.

What were they called super donuts? Super that's right, super donuts because they got vitamins in them and everything. See that that's good stuff. All right? We got our next one up. Let's see that's David in. Is that Michigan Virginia? Boy? Was I off put my glasses on? Oh? Yes, it is Virginia. David. You're in the locker room, buddy. Sorry, I got the wrong state.

I'm fine with it.

We're doing good, brother, How are you? I'm good. I just want to talk about a conspiracy theory. Okay, okay, let's all get our you know, we gotta get hats. There we go double.

None of the team has had meetings with the announcers and the production staff and everything and talk about maybe some inside information.

And I just don't see.

How Baltimore was comfortable with Jackson having all those design runs there early in the game without them having some kind of heads up or a warning.

That, hey, the Steeler said.

They're going after the running back. Uh, because there wasn't time.

To adjust there.

Those were designed where I'm not gonna hand it off, I'm going to ruin.

Well, I would. I would have to say, you got to look at some of the situations. It was definitively he pulled the ball when he saw T. J. Watt or Alex high Smith crash. You know what I mean. That's that read option there. So whether I think I think there were a couple of made for Lamar runs, no doubt about it, but I s yeah, but I certainly would say that No, there was also the option read right.

Yeah, And maybe he just looked quicker and I thought.

It was he is quick. Brother.

Let me tell you he trust me watching it on the sidelines. He's just as fasts he looks on television.

I can promise you that it was.

It's ridiculous because I was like, I thought I hit him, and I you know, I have pretty good, you know, hand eye coordination. I was like, I thought I hit him in my mind, and I still missed him.

You know what I'm saying, I guess how fast he is.

And just just thinking about it looking back, and see I Knewven handed the ball all too when we tackled him too, and the next thing, you know, he's still got the boat.

Yeah, so you know, you know what I always say about that. You know, I'm always reminded when Tounch and I were in New York City. We're there for a game, and we were standing out on the street and there was a guy doing the three card MONI stuff. You know, we got three cards and you move him around and you don't know where the thing is under, you know, and nobody he wins that. You can't win against that, you know. And that's the way it looked like with Lamar. I mean, he did such a good job of pulling the ball at the last instant, you know what I mean.

It was.

It was remarkable. I mean, he is that good. Yeah he is.

And just wanted to ask y'all to pray for me. My daughter went married a Baltimore Ravens fan. My other daughter married somewhat Cleveland.

Oh my heavens. And I mean I was born.

Black and gold. My daughters were we needed up and now they've done that to my family. I've got one more fourteen year old.

And if you marry as the Bengals, I'm coming to live in Pittsburgh.

I mean, you will have at least division solidarity. That's the only thing I think you would accomplished that.

That is what I told him.

I said, for the rest of my lifetime, no matter what happens, y'all will still have to kiss the ring.

Yeah.

Absolutely, No matter what Baltimore does, they're still way behind us.

No doubt about it. Oh, Dave, that's that's a good way to wind it up, brother, anything else.

No, sorry, I just enjoy y'all show and enjoy listening to you.

Just look forward next year.

Way to keep it classy, brother, appreciate you. Steelers Nation on the rise. All right, we're gonna move on. We got one more. We gotta go to break, all right, we gotta go to break. We'll be with you, guys. We got Big John, we got c R. We got John. We got it, we got it, we got all kinds. Yeah, I know, I keep forgetting to put my stupid glasses on. Okay, We're going to break. You're listening to in the Locker Room and the Steelers Audio Network.

This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by bet MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now here's Craig wolf Lee and Max Stark's.

All right back inside the locker room. It's the bell lap. You know, sometimes you just want sharks with freaking laser beams on their heads. That's what you want sometimes. Well, right now we are going.

Because obviously we're short on time, but we are long on callers.

Don't fret.

We will be here all week taking your calls. Even if wolf remembers or not remembers the number, we will be taking calls regardless. But we're gonna go rapid fire water cooler here, try and get everybody in before the end of this show today.

All right, we're gonna start with Big John.

Big John's down in Tayhi, Big John, what's up?

Man?

Give me your thoughts about the season on the Steelers.

But well, no donuts today. But hey, I don't know. It's just one of those head scratches where you're like, you know, it keeps on happening towards the end of the year. You know, we have key people that go down and get hurt and then you know the way that it just kind of steamrolled us and just couldn't give any momentum. But I just feel like, hey, you know, I've never seen a Steeler team not you know, give up that much running in that game, you know, And so just kind of got to look at I think con did a good job from during the offseason to put us some key players. I hope I don't sound biased, but I like the addition of what's the name Shaun Elliott. He was a big right part of the of what we did. But you know, like I said, I think you just need to build up more. You know, there may be some changes on the coaching staff, but you know, I still you know, y'all are offensive line men and kind of miss munch eckx. You know, we need another you know, I don't know if think we may need another O line coach or somebody come in and be a consultant to kind of help because like I said, during the game, he saw two of the players on the line that were pulling during the game, and you're like, they're going there in the different directions.

So so yeah, like I said, let me tell you one thing, Big John so In in nineteen eighty four, I believe it was. I believe in Cleveland, if I recall yours truly, and Terry Long pulled. Terry Long was the right guard. I was a left guard. We turned towards each other and it was two trains one track. We drilled each other, and I mean it was a stunning blow because neither one of us expected the other to pull. And the only saving grace was it was the Browns. They were playing a three four. The inside linebackers were cross keying the the the guards, and they turned into each other and knocked each other down and Franco ran for like twelve yards.

It was.

It was hilarious, and I remember Chuck going, we got to put that play in. Yeah.

Well, like I said, I enjoyed the season. Like you said, I'm not trying to be the dead, the Debbie down or anything in this group.

But I just want to know that.

I'm three coaches, you know, during this whole Steeler since the sixties, and so Noel took over and then Coward. Coward still would be there if it weren't for him, you know, to decide and to step aside. So you know, Pittsburgh's gonna continue to do what they gotta do. Like I said, I have faith in Omar Cohn and and it's because you know, we'll see how this off season goes. And appreciate y'all, even Wes. You know you've been great. You give us a great insight. And like you said, keep keep the faith, brothers, and we'll see how it goes during the year off season.

Sounds good.

Man.

Appreciate you.

Yeah, no, I appreciate it very much so Big John, and uh, you know with that, we're gonna keep it rolling.

We got Dave in g a. Dave, what's up? Man? Give me your thoughts about the season on the Steelers.

But it was going on fellas Born and raising McKee's rocks, living Georgia.

Now.

Ah, but look, people got to realize that offensive line is really really.

You know.

But the only the only, the only heart Coultique out had with that team is we need to bring Hines.

In or somebody to toughen up the wide receivers.

You know, there's talent there, but I don't think that they just don't commit to the play every single every single time. You know, that's all I got.

We're just missing some toughness on offense.

That's my opinion. Okay, yeah, no, I think very very fair, very fair you know assessment.

And you know, like I said, I mean, you know, Heines is doing a great job at a s U. I see them out here. They had a phenomenal year making it to the playoff.

You know, I mean I think, you know, kind of what Big John said, I mean, maybe getting consultants in. We're at that point, I think professionally and where the sport is that there are a lot of quality consultants out there to come in and kind of just work with guys mentor them in the offseason and spend a little bit of of the time. From an outsider's perspective, I think, I think that's very very apropos And you know, we'll see what they do in the offseason. I know, you know, there's a lot a lot of change in turnover happening as well a lot of free agents, so it will be interesting to see if if the Steelers do consider something like that. I think that would be a new way of approach to kind of get that done. All right, Next we'll move on Nathaniel in LA. I'm assuming this Los Angeles is not Louisiana, right, Nathaniel.

Yes, morning, good morning, good morning brother. All right, what'll your mind?

Look? I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and went to Penhills High. I remember when the Steelers didn't win anything prior to nineteen sixty nine, when Chuck No got there, we didn't win anything. And to keep emphasizing just eight years drought and all of this, since we won a playoffs game and everything, Hey, you know, we went what sixty years or something like that before he even won anything. So I mean, they're working on it, and we're gonna get there, just you know. I mean, it's disappointing, but I don't know what else to say about, you know, all of that. But yeah, we can use I agree with you maxxcept we definitely need to get another D lineman. You know, somebody who you know, just is very very difficult to block, you know, like an Aaron Jones. You know, I mean, I'm sorry in Aaron Smith. You know, Aaron Smith was somebody that you just couldn't.

You couldn't block.

Him, you know, you couldn't, fooling you couldn't. You know, you need some need somebody else like that along the D line. But I mean, you know they're working on it. I'm sure they know a whole lot more about that than I do. So, you know, disappointing, but hey, you know we'll get there again.

Very good.

Yeah, no, absolutely, I mean I think that's the perspective. You know, Rome wasn't building a night and you can't expect an empire to run forever. You know, it sometimes takes retweaking, and this is a team that's never had to really rebuild. You know, We've seen a lot of teams around us have to rebuild, and the Steelers, you know, for all instance of person.

They haven't had to do that.

It's been a retooling process and a slow build and you've had consistency and success. And I think that's something that people have to kind of keep in front of their minds as well. Right So so yeah, well, yeah, no, absolutely absolutely I agree with that, and I think that's how we have to look at it. All Right, last one, I'm trying to get John John and Michigan. John, what you doing? But last call of the day. Cr We love you. I will get to you tomorrow. Please make sure you call and I'm sorry we didn't have time today, but John, you're our last caller.

I was a Going Fellows another season gone too soon?

Yeah? Yeah. Max.

By the way, I don't know if westch of my tweet, but let's take a journalistic integrity was Billy Madison, Thank.

You, thank you, thank you so many Adam Sandler movies within like a short span of each other, similar concept.

Too, but thank you for you know, having respect for journalistic integrity.

This is nothing if not a fact based show.

Yes, absolutely so.

I heard a rumor that the forty nine could be letting go of uh Jamon Hargrave. How would you guys think about bringing him back on that defensive line?

Oh no, javon two point zero? Yeah, yep, he would be. It would be very cool with the reunion. Yeah, I would no doubt about it.

And then oh and also Max, all three quarterbacks are freezing.

I just looked it up for you, Okay, Kyle as well? Okay, good, yeah good.

But you guys have a goodson and appreciate the show.

I'm glad we got a fact checker out there. Way to go, bro, we do we do.

We gotta love journalistic integrity, right, I mean that that is that is paramount you got so all right?

Well with that, that's been a show.

We will be back again, of course, Saint Bat channel, Saint Bat time on these here air waves, you know, and and we'll be parsing through everything is as the week progresses, you know, we'll.

Have some finalitey well.

Also, you know, we'll talk some general NFL because the game is still going on, but we'll do that later in the week once it gets closer to those games. We still got some freshness of some wounds to heal, and we'll make sure that we keep keep opening those phone lines for you Steeler Nation to kind of get the year in review kind of underway. We'll bring some topics along the way to help guide those calls moving forward. Remember the number to keep locked in save it in your top five. I don't know if that's still a thing anymore, but uh, we're still gonna say that.

Uh four.

Is the telephone number with that. He's Craig Wolfey.

I'm Max Star's quest yeuler on the ones and twos and since and CJ also in charge of all of that good stuff.

Uh behind the scenes. We'll be back. Take care, have a great day.
