E108. Queen Elizabeth I

View descriptionShare

Elizabeth was born at Greenwich in 1533 and was the daughter of the Tudor King Henry VIII by his second wife Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister Queen Mary to the throne in 1558. Elizabeth’s long reign was one of the most brilliant in English history. Referred to as The Golden Age, it is remembered for the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots the year before, and for many important voyages of exploration and discovery to North America. Known as the Virgin Queen, the colony of Virginia along the eastern coast was named after her. Enjoy this ENCORE Presentation!
