Fabled Cities of Cibola (aka Seven Cities of Gold) became mixed with legendary stories of El Dorado, which was sometimes said to be one of the seven cities. Francisco Vazquez de Coronado (1510-54) was a Spanish conquistador who led a North American expedition to reach the continent’s El Dorado from Mexico through the southwestern USA in search of the mythical kingdom.
