Just since Di Seger gave you the last update.
Alabama up forty one to six, extra point pending. It is now forty two to six as with two minutes and seven seconds to go. Tiger Stadium is essentially empty outside of a couple of full sections of Alabama fans.
Jason Martin, what's going on, my brother? How you doing?
I'm doing pretty well. So I'm feeling pretty good. You know. I feel like America about to make a bit of a comeback. LSU not so much. It's this has got to be like Alabama LSU game. This is just hideously boring because it's not because Alabama's not fun to watch. It's because this is so one sided that there's no reason. Like from the kick from the jump, you knew LSU had no chance in this game, and it's just proven itself out. I mean, mil Row could have anything he wants. The only thing that stops him is there's only sixty minutes allowed in the game, and finally, I think they finally took him out. But just just complete dominance in LSU, Like right there in their building, their fans are leaving, and I think they're exposed for all to see. I think we already knew this. I mean, they should have lost to South Carolina and they didn't. I'm still trying to figure out everything. I mean, both those teams in that week one game USC and LS shooting neither one of them is very good. But LSU's finally being shown. Like when you saw that number next to their name they're ranking, I just didn't buy it. I haven't bought it for weeks and you look at it and there is just nothing about them right now, that's impressive.
All right, So let's go through it Jmar because listen, you don't want to undersell Alabama going in getting this win. But to me, the story is LSU. I mean, Alabama is a two loss team in the SEC. Let's make no mistake about it. This isn't vintage the best team that Saban ever had Alabama. Okay, so we're now three quarters the way through the season for LSU. Here is their resume, lost to what we now know is a bad USC team destroyed by Texas A and M destroyed by Alabama. They play oh Miss, a game that ended on our airwaves. They did not lead until literally there was zero time on the clock, a walk off in overtime South Carolina. They win by three in a game where South Carolina was dominating and their started quarterback gets hurt around halftime, and LSU makes this wild rally. I mean, you look at their schedule. They basically, by the way, even at UCLA, which is vastly improved, let's give them credit. They just beat Iowa that it was seventeen seventeen and halftime against UCLA early in the season when UCLA was struggling. So they've basically put together one complete game of football against a pretty bad Arkansas team that's sitting at five and four. You know, I know, you know you're always supposed to give credit to the victors and credit out. Listen, we know Alabama's good. We know Alabama's gonna be a factor. We know they're gonna be in the mix. What is this LSU program under Brian Kelly in year three? Because I've been a defender of Brian Kelly, I've been an advocate of Brian Kelly. Whatever, they just there's just nothing special about them at all. To kind of put a bow on it, just really quick, I'll toss it back to you. I mean, I think we're seeing like as good as Jaded Daniels was what he the heist betro he was probably even better than we realized. Because this team cannot move the football right now. As again, for those of you just joining us, forty two to six, Alabama leads with two minutes to go at LSU.
To answer to your question, I have no idea. But if I'm Brian Kelly, man, I wish I was still in South Bend, like that will seem like a better situation, didn't it. Like you come to LSU and things change in terms of the landscape of college football, and you would assume LSUS be able to reload. They've got a ton of money, they've got alumni that want to win, they've got all the things that you would want. But you're right, I mean, there is literally and I guess I said the same thing. There's nothing exciting about him. Nuss Meyer is fine, but that's about all he is. You don't have those dynamic defensive playmakers like you've had in years past with LSU, nor do you have the dynamic offensive guys in the more recent years, even the coach O years. There's something absent here entirely. And I understand, and you made the point. Alabama is good, but this is still an Alabama team lost to Vanderbilt. There's still an Alabama team that almost lost to South Carolina. This is not I mean, you're talking about vintage Alabama team. It's not Alabama that lost to Georgia two years ago or LSU with Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase and that squad. This is this is a very pedestrian Alabama team. And by pedestrian, they're still pedestrian against LSU because they are walking them dry all the way across this thing. It's been a disaster from a weather standpoint all day. Ole Miss and Georgia played in a downpour. LSU and Alabama played in a downpour. It's rained here in Nashville most of the day. Apparently if you're an SEC country, it's just gonna be garbage weather. But you look at Brian Kelly on the sidelines a couple times during this game, he just looked very unhappy with life, like things just things have kind of turned south there, and that's not a fun place to be when things turn south because LSU fan is not necessarily the most patient.
Well, and they haven't had to be.
I mean, we all know the stat the last three coaches of THEIRS have won national championships at that school. But you know, I'm looking at the stats right now, under three hundred yards of total offense five point one yards per completion for quarterback Garrett Nusmeier. They did hit one hundred yards rushing just barely. Sextween five guys, yeah, seven penalties, three turnovers. By the way, this is a couple of things to keep in mind here. They are coming off of a bye. Okay, listen, both teams are coming off of bye. Only one team can win. But one team looks like they're coming off a bye, got their stuff figured out, refresh recharged. One team looks like this is just an extension of the Texas A and M game. Because that's the other factor as well, is that you know, it's easy to forget. But we signed on two weeks ago today and by by the way, this is how bad it is. The Alabama coaches have left the booth and are now on the sidelines hugging players. So you know how like the offensive coordinator sits in the booth and hangs out and calls plays and stuff. Well, they're still a minute thirty three to go and the entire Alabama coaching staff is on the field hugging players. So that's how you know it's bad. But it's like, I just you know, listen to me. I know it's kind of repetitive, but it's like LSU just to me. It's just there are certain teams in Herbstreet talked about it during the game. Is you know, they were like the number one thing that Brian Kelly has to do is get out and recruit some players. But there are certain teams that usually when you put on these games just look different, and LSU has always been. I mean, think about all the guys in the NFL. Yeah, just I mean think about Thursday Night. Jamar Chase look like a man among boys, elite neighbors when he's healthy, man among boys. You go through some of the defensive players, Patrick Peterson through the years, Tyron Matthew, he's still going strong. It's like, it's just unbelievable to.
On and on. Yeah, you got Grant, you got Grant Delpitch, you got Patrick Queen, You've got all these dudes.
I didn't mention Justin Jefferson, Justin yet, you.
Probably should have mentioned m He's all right too. I mean, it's absurd just how much talent has come through those that building. And when you watch this LSU team, and I think that is the most striking thing about them. I don't look at like anybody on the field and say, oh, that dude's gonna be a stud at the next level. I'm not saying that that's not true, but none of those guys like give off that vibe to me.
No, me neither.
And it looks like Alabama is gonna put a put a bow on this. Thirty three seconds left. LSU does have the ball in this game really quickly. From the Alabama perspective, let me ask you a question. Let me ask you a very simple question. Old miss looks awesome today to beat Georgia. We'll talk about that in ten minutes. Texas destroys Florida. You know Texas A and M is what they are. Whatever. Do you feel any different about Alabama? Because I'll be honest, like you want to give them credit. They came out ready to play, win on the road, do what they have to do against a rival, keep their season alive, keep their playoff hopes alive.
I'll be real.
I don't know if this changes much from my perspective out Alabama.
I just think it's a LSU.
Was that bad tonight more than it was any amazing thing that Alabama did that made me change the way I feel about their entire season.
Yeah. See, it's kind of we're kind of to the point in the season where you have one performance, it's not really going to move that needle for me too severely. It did remind me how dynamic and how competitive Jalen Milroe is watching them in this game have one hundred and eighty five yards on the ground, and pretty much just do whatever he wants, and you realize, again, yes, they do have some playmakers there, but no, I mean I still think they're I mean, I think they're they're playoff material, but that's about it. Like, I don't necessarily see them going deep. But I think you can make that argument for a lot of the teams that we could speak of and we'll speak of during the course of this show. There have been some good moments and some bad moments for a lot of these teams. But I do think Alabama is more of second tier than first tier, just by both the eye test and just kind of the gut feeling that I have watching them is that's a team that will get in, win a first round game, and that'll probably be about it. But I mean, you never know. I mean, if they get in, they do have the talent there, but they still don't run the ball well outside of the quarterback, and that, to me is going to be an issue because we already know they don't have a ton at the wide receiver position outside of Ryan Williams.
Yeah, Alabama today one hundred and nine yards passing.
How about that?
So Alabama's gonna put up forty plus at LSU Jalen Milroe, as you said, one hundred and eighty five yards rushing, four touchdowns.
And that's my thing is he's great.
But we've seen in other games when he isn't doing this. It's not always, you know, it's not always as simple as just saying, you know, it's Alabama.
They'll figure out.
It's like they really don't have much of an offense outside of Jalen Miller.
And that's not an insult.
By the way, LSU has scored a touchdown late with eleven seconds left to make it forty two to thirteen. Players aren't even celebrating. I think they just want to get off the field here. But no, so yeah, I just like it's a great win for Alabama. It's an all I think. I still think as we led the show with how bad LSU is, I think it's more of an LSU story. Alabama kind of keeps their playoff hopes alive. I just don't I don't want to dismiss what they did on the road in less than ideal weather conditions. I just don't know that it fundamentally changes how I feel about them in the big picture.
Jmark, Yeah, I'm me either and then to the LSU point, you don't want to overreact. You know, Brian Kelly is still a really good football coach. At the same time, I don't think in year three, LSU is where you would have expected them to be when you've made that higher if you're LSU zero doubt.
I know they do have the win over Ole Miss, which is which looks impressive, but even that game, they were out gained, Ole Miss, had a million penalties, and they didn't lead until the final play the game. So it's an interesting it's an interesting dynamic in this game. As Alabama is officially going to close this out. Forty two to thirteen is the final score Alabama. We'll get the ball back eleven seconds left. Alabama gonna go into Baton Rouge and get the win. Tell you what, jmart there was another pretty big game in college football. And then the SEC specifically will come back. We're gonna talk about George Old Miss. That's another one. Was it more about Ole Miss being maybe a little bit better than we thought George maybe a little bit worse. We'll figure out the answer that question next. Eric Torres Jayson Martin Fox Sports Radio.

Jmart.
Before we get told, Miss Georgia, do you want to get updated on one other SEC game?
How about this? Jmart?
Missouri scored two touchdowns in the final minute four seconds. They trailed twenty three to sixteen at alab against Oklahoma. So Missouri's playing Oklahoma. Oklahoma tas a twenty three sixteen lead with two minutes left. Missouri hits a touchdown pass with a minute three to go. Oklahoma gets the ball back Jackson Arnold, the Oklahoma quarterback, is sacked and stripped fummal recovery return for a touchdown by Missouri. Missouri with fourteen points in the final sixty five seconds of the game to win. Oklahoma falls to five and five. Now one in five in sec play.
Jammer, Yeah, so that pretty much encapsulates Oklahoma's twenty twenty four Like that's just exactly how it's gone for them, and sometimes it just does. I mean, that is still a crazy way for it to end, but again, Oklahoma has found all sorts of creative ways to lose this year.
Who should feel better about the state of their program right now? USC football fans are Oklahoma football fans.
Goodness, I would say USC just because Lincoln Riley has won a lot of games at times in his life. Brent Vinnables hasn't as a head coach, like since he left Clemson where he was the DC during some of those scory years. You haven't really seen that at OU. So I think I would still say USC, but I would rather not talk about either one of them.
Well, Oklahoma gets the loss here to fall to five and five Missouri seven, and two, like weirdly still on the fringes of an SEC title race.
I don't they're not that good. I mean, they're not seven and two whatever. They're not a seven and two team that matches up with some of the other two loss teams, not even close.
Well, yeah, I was gonna say, I don't know the scenario, how many things would have to happen for them to actually play for the SEC title.
But with the with their win.
Let's see here, there are now three teams that tie to top the SEC standings with one loss Tennessee Texas A and M in Texas, two loss teams Georgia Old miss Alabama and Missouri technically LSU as well, which has lost their last two. So anyway, we don't have spend any more time on that game. But yeah, a crazy finish in Missouri as Missouri rallies to win Oklahoma five and five Missouri seven and two. Oklahoma will need to win one of their final two games Alabama at home LSU on the road to get Bowl eligible, though apparently tonight, if we learn anything tonight, it's not as hard to win it at LSU as we think. So anyway, let's get to the other big one in the SEC. J Mart, ole Miss hosting Georgia. Georgia comes in as a top five team. Ole Miss has two losses, you know, and really basically on the fringes of the playoff conversation, ole Miss basically would need to win out to I think have a serious shot at making the playoff. But they took the first step on Saturday twenty eight to ten win over Georgia. This was domination start to finish. They were the better team. There's no questions about it. I'm let you take this where you want.
J Mart.
Is this a conversation about maybe Georgia not being as good as we thought, ole Miss being better?
What is your biggest takeaway from this game?
I think they might both be true. I think ole Miss is about what we thought they were, but Georgia is not. And because of what Georgia has been, I mean, this is the first time since twenty twenty that Georgia has lost to a team not named Alabama.
Which is crazy. That is crazy.
The last time they lost to a team that wasn't Alabama was Florida in twenty twenty. So it's been four years since you've seen anybody other than Alabama beat them, and this is every time I watch Georgia I'm less impressed. And I will say this, I would love to have seen what happened in this game if Austin Simmons did not come in and do what he did, because to me, that was the most impressive and important drive of the entire game. Jackson Dark goes down on the second play, he gets up immediately throws an interception. Georgia scores what would be their only touchdown of the game. Because the defense dominated for Ole Miss, especially the run defense on the ground. But Austin Simmons comes in the game, the red shirt freshman. He comes in, he leads him right down the field and scores a credit to the offensive play calling, but Simmons is five of six for sixty four yards. Just they go right down and score on Georgia's defense with the backup quarterback in and then Dark comes back and even though he's a little bit hobbled, he still ends up with two hundred yards basically one ninety nine. If he doesn't come in, if the backup doesn't come in and score doesn't come in and show that, I don't know if we're having this same conversation. But because he did, we have to talk about Georgia because there's just nothing about them that looks scary to me anymore. And it's not because they don't have the players I know. They still have a lot of talent. They also have receivers that have the second most drops of anybody in the country this year, and they have a quarterback that's the opposite of clutch. There's a lot of different ways we can take this, but the offense is broken and Mike Bobo's probably gonna be out of a job at the end of this year, and you would have to imagine George is gonna have to move on from that because this ain't gonna This ain't gonna stand not based on what Georgia has become. You can't fall off like this and this team right here, this is not a playoff team right now, This Georgia team, if they go in there with even partially close to what we saw here against Tennessee, they'll lose. If Nico can play, and he may not be able to. But George is just not very good right now. And outside of about three halves of football this year, they've been bad throughout the year.
Jama A. You sent us a stat producer ian and I stat. Go ahead and read that stat that you sent us earlier today.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. But if you want to talk about the few, yeah, no, I can pull it back up. The futility of the Georgia offense. I just saw a random commenter after the game on the Athletic say this. He said, Georgia thirty six quarters of football this season, less than seven points scored in seventeen of those, zero points in twelve of those. So for a third of the quarters that they've played, they haven't scored, and then you can take another seventeen. I mean, they've been they've been dreadful. They've been absolutely dreadful, and their offense just cannot seem to get it going. And then especially in the first half, they've been notoriously bad to start games. I am still baffled that they did what they did to Texas. Well, I'm still trying to figure out how that even happened.
Well, it's funny because I'm looking at the stats right now. In that game, we you and I run are everybody including us, remembers this as this incredible effort against Texas. These are the final stats for the Georgia offense two hundred and eighty three yards of total offense, one hundred and seventy five yards passing Carson back twenty three of forty one with three interceptions, and how about this one hundred and eight yards rushing on thirty carries, so three point six yards per carry. So essentially, the offense was terrible against Texas too. It's just they jumped to it. It was the It's kind of the reverse Alabama game. They just jumped out early and kind of held on for dear life. That was a game where they had a twenty three to nothing lead at halftime. And I believe at least a couple of those those those scores were off of short fields because of the fact that that Texas themselves had had turnover issues as well. And so, you know, I don't want to dismiss all miss because I do think, you know, the defense has been good all year for a MISS, and obviously the offense is kind of caught up the last week or two. But I do think it is a Georgia thing. And I'm with you is that, you know, I don't listen. It's the first year of the twelve team playoff. None of us totally know how it's gonna work out, but it's gonna be an interesting conversation because they're ten and two or you know, they're they're excuse me, they're seven and two right now. They still have Tennessee at home, and then you would think they would get wins against UMass and Georgia Tech, although of course Georgia Tech's playing well. They beat Miami earlier in the day. But I just bring it up because, like, I don't know, like they have a great win against Texas, they have a pretty good win against Clemson, but there's just, like you said, there's something missing specifically on that offense, and it's everything. They don't run the ball well. Carson Beck has obviously regressed significantly. You know, I still go back to, you know, by the way today he wasn't even terrible relative to some of the other games that he's played.
He only had one interception.
He had three last week against Florida, three against Texas, as I said, and I believe three against Alabama as well. They just don't do anything well offensively right now. And again, I you know, I don't know what the playoff picture is gonna look like in terms of who gets in, who doesn't whatever. One thing I will say, you know, if Texas were to let's say, let's say Texas wins out, wins the SEC right, so they're gonna obviously get in. Now you have a situation when Georgia where obviously Old Miss if they finished ten and two, would have a head to head win over Georgia. Alabama if they finished ten and two, would have a head ten win over Georgia. So the only point I'm trying to make is, you know, it's hard to know exactly how everything is gonna play itself out, but I'm with you, J mart Is. You know there's just something not right, especially on that offensive side of the football. And I don't know what else there is to say. Man, They're just not They're not very good. They don't look like the Georgia the last three four, five years. They don't look very good at all.
I mean, you look at it, you look at it. You probably get five teams of the SEC in the top in the in the rankings this week or something close to that, and you're gonna be looking at some grouping of Texas, probably Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss Alabama, and then you can make an argument after that's I guess it will still be Georgia if there's a fifth team. But this team right now is not a top twelve team. They're not playing like it. Their offense should scare no one, which is kind of stunning considering what they've been in years past, either at the quarterback spot, but certainly the way they've run the ball under Kirby Smart pretty much throughout his tenure. This is just not a Georgia team that runs the ball particularly well. And they don't have a quarterback that can pick him up off the mat, and he's not being helped out at all by his receivers. It's just a completely broken offense, like we've seen a couple of in season changes both in the NFL and college football with coordinators Bobo. If Bobo doesn't make it through the season, I wouldn't be shocked. I assume he probably will, but he's going to be the one I think that takes the blame for most of.
This well, and I'll tell you this, if they don't make the playoff, I think that's one of those you know, you get a press release the day after the season ends, the day after the regular season ends and Kirby Smart and Georgia start picking things up from there. Fox Sports Radio air towards Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the Tyreck dot Com studios. I see to Saga thrown on the headphones. He's excited to tell us what's going on in the world of college football.
So let's get it over the news desk to Saga. What is trending?
So much college football to get to including by the way, Florida State is still fielding a team at number ten, Notre Dame.
It was fifty two to three.

They got killed in the recent Orange Bowl. You do recall that was sixty three to three. Tonight was fifty two to three. Seminoles are one to nine. They're off next week. Make up your own jokes and then they'll be hosting Charleston Southern and then the Florida Gators, and mercifully, this season will be over. Alabama won at LSU forty two to thirteen. Quarterback Jalen Milroe four touchdown runs twelfth Ranke. Boise State held on twenty eight, twenty one over Nevada Ashton gent thirty four carries two hundred nine yards rushing, three touchdowns, one fumble. I was gonna ask, Yeah, anybody anybody want to talk about some fisticuffs in you know con air over there is like Nick Cage was on that flight or what.
Well, there's a game right now at number four Houston. They're leading Auburn forty one thirty eight. Early second half. Auburn's flight two huge yesterday had to turn around because of a fight on board between teammates. No, those two teammates did not make the second trip. They are not at the road game.
Jeff Goodman called it horseplay on Twitter, and I love Jeff, but I was like, bro, No, yeah, they don't.
They don't.
They don't ground, they don't turn around.
The police were waiting, Yes, clothes were ripped. The pilot had to notify the tower.
Were you on air to Segur you do Friday? Jason Smith and Mike Harmon, Right, it's because because stuff was coming out throughout the night, like the audio and stuff. I mean, I don't know if it's really a topic for us to talk about, but it must have been. Must have been an adventure for you to follow.
Yes, the Fox TV station in Birmingham, I believe it was got a hold of the tower audio to hear the pilots sake, we're gonna have to turn this around and all that was going on.
Yeah, good times, way to go.
At least the football team's got doing good at auburns or distract they're not.
They're not playing this week. So glasses half full, glasses half.
A bam is still on the schedule though, right, yeah, I think so okay, Yeah, standing by.
Just like the police were last night. Thank you to Saga.
Fox Sports Radio air towards Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Tyreck dot Com series.
Jmar Just want to spend a half a second on this. The sager mentioned it.
Iowa State lost tonight and by the way, BYU the only undefeated team, and not only they're not only undefeated with a win loss record of eight. You know, they're the only undefeated team in the Big Twelve standings. But I bring it up because regardless of what happens to this BYU game, Colorado Buffaloes are alone in second place in the Big Twelve after beating Texas Tech today. Three games against three teams that are not playing well Utah next week, who is obviously winning right now but on the season not playing well, Kansas and Oklahoma State, which lost again today. Colorado Buffalo's coach Prime everybody had their takes last year. They control their own destiny in the race for the Big Twelve title game. They control their own destiny in the race for the College football playoff.
There's six and one in their last seven. They trailed by a couple of scores today against Texas Tech and then came back and won by fourteen points. It was yeah, really, nothing you can say negative right now. They're just they're winning games. They're doing it impressively. The offense, I mean, Chador just makes plays. We know what Hunter is capable of.
Tan fan, is Shadoor the top quarterback on your board? Oh, you live in Tennessee. You're not a Titians fan.
I'm saying I live here right exactly. I'm a Denver Broncos fan.
Is there any Chador buzz in the city right now or not? No, nobody cares. You need a quarterback, That's what I know.
They definitely need a quarterback here. I don't I don't really keep tabs on what is being said about the team. If I talk to other people, I haven't heard anything mentioned to that degree. I mean, I don't know. I was looking at I'm thinking about the quarterbacks, and you know, you'll have Ward and you've got some of these guys that are out there. Sanders is super exciting and completely different than anything you've had in a long time. But I don't know. I do think that they'll have an opportunity potentially to draft him though, because they are terrible, absolutely terrible.
They are terrible. One thing really quick, about thirty to sixty seconds. Travis Hunter's got to be the Heisman favorite at this point, especially cam Ward Struggle today, Gent is still great, but has relatively come back down to earth considering what he was doing early. Is Travis hunder your Heisman favor right now?
Yeah? I think he's. I mean, it's those three guys, and then you probably throw Dylan Gabriel in there as well, but I think Hunter's Hunter is the most like indispensable player in college football based on what he can do on both sides. I kind of laughed it off when you mentioned it weeks and weeks ago, but as we've gotten deeper into it, you just see what he does for them, and it's hard to deny that he's the most just incredible player in all college football.
Well, and the important thing is they're winning two, which you know exactly. It's cool if you're playing both ways. One hundred and ten snaps a game or whatever it ends up being if you're four and eight doesn't really matter. But he's making impact plays. He had a touchdown today receiving an interception. That was ultimately overturned by a penalty not related to it. But he has been phenomenal, and as Miami loses, as cam Ward struggles, I think for at least one week, he's got to be considered the favorite.
Colorado. Next week hosts Utah.
That is, by the way, the Big noon kickoff game, So the Big Noon crew will be in Boulder to see if Colorado can improve to How about this eight and two here in the middle of November, Fox Sports Radio air tords Jason Martin, broadcasting live from thee Tireck dot com studios. We'll come back, jmart We're gonna do something. How about this, We'll talk about something. We will talk about a league that has never been discussed, maybe ever on the Fox Sports Radio airwaves. We'll explain next Fox Sports Radio.
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio radio.
Welcome back, everybody, Fox Sports Radio aer towards Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the tai Iraq dot com studios For the break I mentioned, We're gonna talk about a topic right now that has maybe never been discussed on Fox Sports Radio's airwaves.
That is the G League.
Baby. Oh yeah, that's right.
South Bay Lakers can you feel the excitement?
Nope.
They beat the Salt Lake City Stars one six at the Lakers practice facility. That's where the game was literally played, according to ESPN dot com, So I'm sure it was a capacity crowd.
Uh.
Bronnie James six points on two of nine, shooting oh for four from three, had five turnovers, and thirty one minutes ESPN Man, I don't know how much Clutch is paying ESPN right now now, but they spun it in a positive way in the write up, the six points loosely mirroring his production as a freshman at USC and during the Lakers preseason.
That doesn't spin it positively to me because then they've list four point eight, two point eight and two point one, and then the Lakers preseason four point two, one and a half and point three. That's zero point three. Look, I understand you're going to cover it, but this is ridiculous. At some point we well, look, we already stopped taking this seriously, but this is embarrassing. It is. You're the one that tweeted it out and got all the views. You told me about it last week, and you're one hundred percent right. We said this from the beginning with no disrespect intended towards Brownie. He has no business even being on a G League roster right now. He doesn't. The only reason he is is because of his father, And look, whatever, more power to you. Just don't expect us to cover this like it's real sports. We're doing it right now because it's something to Condo lampoon honestly, because it's a lead story on ESPN. If you go to the Athletic there's an even longer story about it.
It is.
Again, that's good stuff. Man. Oh for four from three and five turnovers, so you actually turned the ball over more than you miss threes in the game, so that I guess that's a positive. I don't know what you're supposed to say. And then you see this, like directly underneath that, Quincy Olavari, who also plays with Bronnie on this team, had twenty eight points. I kind of want to hear more about him, honestly, because twenty eight points might be more than Bronni scored in his entire college career. Put together.
It's bad and I hate it.
For him, and I find myself like kind of like I'm not rooting for him though, because I just think this whole thing is so so, what's the word. It's gonna sound harsh. It's it's kind of pathetic, Aaron, I don't know what else. So it's pathetic.
It is well, you know, I'll say this, I hadn't really thought of it until right now, So I agree with everything you said. So this isn't me like reversing course. I think it's a joke. I think it's a joke that we have to pretend that it's something that it's not. And you said, like you're not really rooting for it. The only the only comparison I can really make is it's almost like Colorado football, right is like if at a certain point Bronnie does something that is worthy of our praise, I think we'll all be like happy.
Like seems like a good kid.
Whatever.
Da da da da.
But it was like last year when Colorado was four and eight and they lost nine straight.
You know what was it.
They started three and oh, so they were one in nine, one in eight in their final nine games. It was like we didn't have to pretend like it was a real story. After a while, and by the way, credit to most of the media, Yeah, we went a little overboard in early to mid September three and oh and by the way, at that point, Colorado had beaten the defending national runners up in TCU, so there was a reason for excitement, okay, But it got to a point where it's like, this isn't a real story. Let's stop pretending like it is. And I wish I don't know when, but I hope people get there soon with Bronnie, because this isn't a real story and we need to stop pretending like it is.
Jamartin his gold uniform, was the only one on sale at the team shop, by the.
Way, sure me, yeah, I'm not surprised. I mean, how do you feel?
How do you feel if you're other people on the G League team and you know that you're better than him?
Well, how about it being a laker and he's he's getting minutes in games he played last night against the seventy six ers. I know it was one minute, but still.
It's embarrassing. I don't know what I'm supposed to decide.
It's a joke, man.
I oh gosh, I can't stand it. I really I wish he could have earned his way there, I really do. I wish he could have grown into it because it would have been so cool to then easily be able to root for him, And now it's just it's it's robbed complete. We have everyone.
I'll tell you what, Jamart. We just talked about a total train wreck in the G League. We'll talk about a total trade wreck in the NFL. Cowboys, Babby, how about them Cowboys?
That's next.
Fox Sports Radio.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Welcome in everybody, hour two tours martin Fox Sports Radio. We are broadcasting live from the tyreck dot Com studios tyrec dot com. We'll help you get there. An unmatched election, fast free shipping, free road as a protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers tirec dot com the way tire buying should be. We are taking you up till two am Eastern. By the way, there is a chance we get somebody from the Alabama locker room for people just joining us. Big game in Baton, Rouge goes to Alabama. Alabama a dominant forty two to thirteen win. LSU does not score until the does not score a touchdown until the final seconds. We talked about it a lot in nour one. Is it more an indictment on LSU stinking has Bama turned a corner? If you missed any of that, you could download the podcast after the show. We will also revisit that topic later, but again we are efforting somebody from the Alabama locker room. With that said, do you want to switch gears J Mark to the NFL? You and I had the absolute privilege last Sunday of filling in for Dan byer Kerry Rhodes on Red Zone Radio and a topic that we discussed at length. It was the Dallas Cowboys last week. They lose to the Falcons twenty seven to twenty one. It was their third straight loss, their fifth loss in seven games, and we didn't know it at the time, but as we now know, it was the final time that we will almost certainly see Dak Prescott in the twenty twenty four NFL season. As I'm sure everybody is discussed throughout the day. I know Stephen Monci were on earlier, I know VJ and Martin were on earlier. I'm sure they've all discussed it, but it wasn't out today. Dak Prescott. He did injure that hamstring in that game. We weren't certain what the timeline was on a potential return. Well, he's going to have season ending surgery, and that means that almost certainly the Dallas Cowboys will be without Dak Prescott for the remainder of the year. Cowboys three and five right now going into a game against Philadelphia this weekend. Hard to think of an organization right now that's just spinning its wheels in the wrong direction quite like the Cowboys at this moment.
Jamark, Yeah, I mean, there's nothing, nothing good to say about them except I mean individual talent that certain Cowboys still possess. But this we kind of speculated that if it were us, maybe do shut this guy down and you find out he's got a partially torn hamstring at the very best case he was going to go on, ir what's he coming back for this year? What purpose is served by Dak Prescott coming back after missing four more games on a Cowboys team that's going nowhere fast, where everything has gone south, where the coaches I think at this point just the lame duck and there's going to be wholesale changes to the roster and everywhere else. What's Dak coming back for? If it's me he can elect probably to have the surgery or wait it out and sit for a month or whatever. I'm shutting it down. I don't blame him at all. I hope it is his decision, honestly, Like you saw that look on his face on Sunday when he used the word that we can't use on terrestrial radio to describe what he thought the Cowboys were while he was standing on the sidelines while they were getting annihilated. And he's right, first of all, and so I'm not putting myself through that. If I'm a quarterback like Dak that's already dealt with injuries and all this kind of stuff. We're not getting to the playoffs. We're going to have a high draft pick, and honestly, whether I'm there or not, we probably get a higher draft pick if I don't play, so I'd like to have some help. Of course, that draft pick could be his replacement as well. But let's go see the Trey Lance experience and the Cooper Rush experience for the rest of the year. The Cowboys have become the worst thing possible, uninteresting and irrelevant.
They are uninteresting. They are irrelevant. I mean, I don't think they're drafting his replacement considering that he's gonna be owed sixty plus million dollars a year going forward. But it does speak to how bad things got this year and the fact that I don't really think there's anything fixable to it. You know, listen, unless you make some wild trade, you only have one first round pick. You have so much money tied up in Dak Prescott and CD Lamb.
Listen.
You know, I don't know if now's the time to have this conversation. It just goes back to I know that if you don't give Dak the big extension, somebody would have paid him, but they're gonna have so much tied up in this guy going forward. I don't really know how it gets better. But I also agree with what you said, is that I don't I think it's probably the smart move to not bring him back this year. It's okay, you know what. You are stuck with him, whether it's it was the right move a wrong move, it has it's done. The decision has been made, and so I only bring it up to just say shut him down, let him get healthy, hopefully you get in that top ten.
Now you have so many issues.
I don't even know what you're gonna do with the top ten pick, but it doesn't change the fact that that this this organization is a train wreck. I'll say this. You know what I actually feel bad for is Mike McCarthy is. Listen, if you were gonna bring him back, and you know, you bring him back, and I know that the Dak injury is not something you could foresee, but you're gonna pay Dak, You're gonna pay CD. You're not really gonna do anything else to really improve the roster. It's like, why did you even bring him back in the first place. Now, now, maybe it works out for the best. You know, you get a new coach after this season.
Whatever.
I do kind of feel bad for him though. It's like, you know, they have no chance to succeed. He has no contract after this year. It's obvious that he's not gonna come back next year.
You know.
I know Jerry's been hesitant to pull the trigger, but there's no trigger to pull. He's just the contract's over after this year. I do actually feel a little bit bad for Mike McCarthy in this situation. I know, in the grand scheme, nobody should feel too bad. He's gonna be paid a lot of money. He hasn't won enough games, at least the ones that matter, and he's not winning very many right now. But I do feel a little bit bad for him because basically, there's what, there's still nine games left in the season. He's essentially got no shot of coming back, and he's just kind of a lame duck walking into a no win situation.
Yeah, I mean I get that. I would say he's not your biggest problem. It's not like Mike McCarthy is the reason why the Cowboys have been terrible this year. But he's also not your solution. He's not the guy that's going to turn around and fix it. And just the sentiment surrounding it's become so just toxic and negative and eye rolly that, yeah, you probably make the move. The only the only reason I mentioned the replacement, by the way, is and maybe I'm incorrect on this, but could you trade Dak if you've got a high enough pick, and I mean Raiders need a quarterback, with some other teams in the league that need a quarterback that might pay for him, because here's the thing, Dak's good. Like, Dak's not your problem. I understand that too, but to your point because of what they've done from a money standpoint on just a couple of guys, they've handcuffed themselves tremendously. And we have discussed many times on this show the value of that rookie quarterback because of what it enables you to do around him, because if you're not having to pay him exorbitant record money, then you can actually be aggressive and free agency, you can go out and do some other things. So maybe you just say, look, Dak's really good, but we're not winning it with Dak either, like we haven't. We haven't sniffed the super Bowl yet with Dak. So maybe we're gonna let him go and take that risk to reset our clock when it comes to a rookie quarterback scale, and maybe nobody's going to take him on because of the money out. I don't know. But he's still a really good quarterback. I don't think anybody is denying that. I think it's just well as good as he is, you're still pretty far from where you need to be. So what exactly are you going to do? And don't tell me it's just going to be a coach, because there's some other changes that need to be made here. And there are financial constraints that make a lot of those things a lot harder to do than otherwise they would be.
Let me ask you a question that I know there's no perfect answer to. If they do get a top top top pick, you know whatever, top five, top seven, whatever, what is the number one priority? I mean, they don't have any running back, they don't have a second receiver. The O line's getting older, the defense, do they have any difference makers besides Michael Parsons when he's actually healthy. I mean, I don't even know what the first step. Like, That's that's where the issue comes in is there's so many problems they do. They're not they're not really good anywhere. I don't even know what the first step, even if you get that pick, even if you're shutting down dak to kind of set yourself up to kind of get some draft capital. I don't even know where you start to solve the problems.
I mean, I think that's a good I mean, that's a really good point. I don't know either O line needs some help, the defense needs some help, the back end needs some help. I mean, you're not gonna use a top pick on a running back. I don't think.
Imagine if they did.
Maybe. I mean, I mean you talked about it earlier, right, we talked about the Heisman front runner. I mean, Hunter could potentially fill multiple roles. There you go. I mean, but that's the one, right, Like you get somebody on the back end, and you get a second receiver potentially. I'm not saying you do that. Nor do I think you want him playing two ways in the NFL very long, because I don't think he's gonna survive doing that for very long. But I don't I think that's the Really that's a really good point. Here's the thing. You have to start somewhere. You have to start somewhere, like regardles less of your point, which is right, You got to start somewhere. Like, everybody gets a top pick probably has multiple issues. That's what you're paid to do is prioritize those and fill those holes as best you can.
You know, the the Travis Hutter thing is not a terrible point. You know, unless you make some big trade, you don't get two first round picks. But maybe Travis Hutter is two first round picks. You need a second guy at wide receiver. Yeah, you know, he'd certainly help on defense. I don't know how long he could he could.
Realize it would on paper, I would definitely like to see it, like I'd like to see a short term just to see how it would play out. But imagine being able to fill two spots with the Heisman Trophy winner.
That is crazy. No, the Cowboys, I feel bad for their fans because it's it's just it's the worst place to be is And the crazy part is this is that you're not winning it with Dak. But to your point, Dak's not the biggest problem. But to your to the other point you made through the segment, Mike McCarthy hasn't been good, but he's not the biggest problem. It's just there's just so many issues, so many problems, and not only is it not getting better, here's the counter to that, you're stuck in this spot because of the contract that you owe Dak. And here's the other thing, which I know you know, but is worth discussing kind of out a broader conversation, is Oh, by the way, you talk about a rookie contract for your quarterback, Well, Washington is going all in with their rookie quarterback. You know, they made a couple of trades this weekend to improve themselves, and they got a couple more years before they got to pay Jade and Daniels, so they're not going anywhere. Philly, I still am not totally sure how, but has seemingly figured it out. Sitting at six and two going into the game tomorrow against Dallas in Dallas. So it's like, you know, I mean, I think and listen, this is part of the reason that I've never really bought the Dak mystique, the Cowboys mistique, the oh you can't fire Mike McCarthy because he's won all these games twelve straight, you know, three straight seasons with twelve wins. It's like, yeah, it's cause the freaking Washington Commander stink and the New York Giants stink. And it's like, now, all of a sudden, that division has two organizations that look like they are really one is certainly ascending, one has been very good and does not appear to be taking the step back that we maybe thought they would be. And now here are the Dallas Cowboys, stuck in neutral quarterback that's overpaid and you can't really do much to build around him. You're probably starting over with a new head coach next year. Just a disastrous situation.
Yeah, I it's it's brutal, and it's a division that, like you said, it hasn't been one of the better divisions in football despite the marquee franchises and the history and all that. And now you're the Cowboys and you're kind of the seller dweller and Dak is shutting it down now for the year most likely to try and get himself right. So it's not going to get better. And you know, McCarthy's just going to stand on the sidelines and do his job and get paid and then he's going to be just very quietly let go at the end of the year and then we'll see what happens. Is Belichick gonna come back off TV and do it. And here's the other thing, is that the right guy.
I was just gonna ask at this point.
Like what in his team building over the last handful of years in New England tells you that he's going to be the guy to be able to step in and fix this into twenty twenty five.
I was literally about to ask you, if Belichick's available, do you think he solves anything for this team?
This organization. I don't know. I mean, he's exciting as a name. We know this and we understand how great he was, But is he still the guy in twenty twenty five. Let's just say I am going to be healthily skeptical on that. Like I I'm not sure he is your fix anymore. I don't I don't know that the game hasn't passed him by to some degree. He would have to be much less stubborn when it comes to and they've got to find somebody that can actually build the team, because I don't think he's the answer there at all.
Yeah, it'll be It would be interesting, and that's probably a conversation to have in in you know, late whatever, late December, early January, when we get a little bit closer. You know, obviously he probably would not have much much say with player personnel. Uh, you know, he brings Josh McDaniels. Does that help with the offense? I don't know. I just know right now, the Cowboys are a mess and there is no fix on the horizon. Dak Prescott again, if you're just joining us, he is officially out for the year. He will undergo hamstring surgery. Fox Sports Radio Erin Tors Jason Martin. We are broadcasting live for the Tyreck dot Com studios. Football fans, be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning, beginning at ten am Eastern seven am Pacific for Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet MGM, Brian No, Jeff Schwartz, a professional better Bill Krakenberg.
Well have you covered three hours before kickoff?
Every Sunday morning, Listen to Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM right here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Tell you what, jmart Well, come back when we do. We just mentioned the hot start of Jaden Daniels. Caleb Williams not so much by the end of the game tomorrow. By the end of the day tomorrow. Are we talking about Caleb Williams as the third best quarterback in this draft class? And what does it mean for his future in the future of his coach. That's next Fox Sports for you. Welcome back, everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Eric Torris, Jason Martin. We are broadcasting live from Thetirereck dot Com studios. By the way, a little bit of late breaking news to say, go get us some more details, but Trevor Lawrence is officially out for for Tomorrow. Adam Schefter just tweeting moments ago listen Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence listened, is questionable for Sunday due to a left shoulder injury. Will not play versus the Vikings. The question is whether Lawrence will make it back next Sunday versus the Lions, or whether the team will give him one more week off with Jacksonville coming off the buye. I'm not sure if you have any smoldering hot takes on Trevor Lawrence not playing tomorrow j Mark, but he is officially out.
I mean, anybody can can lose to the Vikings. It doesn't have to be Trevor Lawrence. Sure, I know that's mean. And look, it's a home game and Trevor Lawrence is capable of winning. I'm not suggesting that, but that team's not very good and Minnesota is so I mean, spoiler alert. I was taking the Vikings to win regardless of who was playing quarterback. So if it's me and you've got to buy or whatever coming up, if you're Jacksonville, yeah, just get me an extra week.
By the way, another sort of interesting thing going on not in the world of the NFL. Alburt Basketball up seventy four to sixty nine with two two point one seconds to go against number four ranked Houston, so less than twenty four hours after their flight had to be diverted back to Auburn because of a fight on on the flight. Both players that were part of the fight were left behind did not travel with the team back to Houston. Alburn Basketball gets the win. J barts So, I don't know if there's another that's another one. I don't know if there's a smoldering hot take. They do officially get the seventy four to sixty nine win. I'll tell you they're celebrating like the like it's a pretty big win. So Auburn a day after a brawl on the flight, they do get the victory.
Look, I mean, you fight, you got highs and lows, and unfortunately some of the lows took place in the highs last night on the airplane. But then you come back and you win by five against a good Houston team. All right, I mean, what are you supposed to do? Like that's the best possible way to move on from a no win story. If you're Auburn is to go on the floor and win the game, because I think a lot of things are a little easier to take after a W than an L If you go out there and you get trounced by twenty five. Coming off of what happened on Friday, then all were talking about is that I actually think this will make that story much less important because it's just there's not as much meat on the bone. It's still an interesting story, but it moved from an A bloc topic to a C block, especially adding in football from Saturday and Sunday. It's almost like it was a news dump story because of when it took place, Like if it happened at a different time, we might have had a bigger amount of time to talk about it. It might have moved the needle more from a media standpoint across the country. Here, it's gonna end up being kind of a blip on the radar, and good on them for being able to step back out there and win a game against a good basketball team, you know, early in November, when we're seeing I do like the way college basketball starts with all these pretty cool matchups. Not all of them end up delivering, but even though these are all more or less just we watch these to get a sense of what these teams are, and then they're gonna look completely different by the time it really matters in March, at least forgetting these like top flight matchups between blue bloods and big time programs and things like this. I do like that I've watched a decent amount of college basketball this week just because I know these are teams that I can pay attention to later, even though the individual results aren't gonna matter.
Well, Albert gets to win in that one. Let's get back to the NFL Jmart, because I tell you what, a lot of interesting things going on in the league. Not a super interesting slate, But do want to talk about what I think is kind of an intriguing game because.
We probably those are going to beat the Chiefs.
Yeah, I know, well we could talk about that in an hour three How about that? You never know, sewn Sean Payton, Baby, that's not the game I want to talk about bo Knicks, No, but I will talk about two other rookie quarterbacks. That's Drake May and the New England Patriots traveling to Chicago to take on the Bears. New England last week. They didn't lose an overtime, but Drake May did force overtime with a play as basically as time expired for two hundred and six yards for that touchdown.
Caleb Williams not so much.
He played against the Arizona Cardinals in a game that basically was over the second it began.
Bears finished with that was a terrible game.
Yeah, Bears finished with nine points Caleb twenty two to forty one. I bring it up. I heard Martin Why say this on the show before us? He said, I think by the time we log on next week he said this to VJ. Husky, he said, we might be having a conversation if Caleb Williams is the third best quarterback in the twenty twenty four draft class. What do you think and how worried are you about what you've seen of Caleb Williams, especially the way Jayden Daniels is playing, the fact that Drake May showed some life, that bo Nix has been pretty good. Caleb Williams is struggling with the Bears.
He is, and Martin's point is is accurate to a degree. I know exactly what he means. But this goes back to a larger problem. And this is something we talked about when we were filling in on Red Zone Radio six days ago. During that window, you screwed up by bringing back Matt Eberflus. You just did. I don't think that Caleb Williams is not number one pick worthy because of what I've seen this year. I do think that you started him out with a hand tie behind his back because you brought back a coach that won, doesn't have an offensive philosophy or is an offensive coach to begin with, and two hadn't really done anything particularly noteworthy as a coach to this point. I don't think when you bring in when you bring in a Lamborghini, when you bring in something that's supposed to completely change everything. You got to build the right garage, you've got to live in a right neighborhood. Everything's got to be right so that everything fits. Nothing fits in Chicago, nothing. Because you've got Caleb, and you do have DJ Mood, You've got some talent Cole Comett, You've got some talented players, but you've kind of coaching staff that just doesn't look like it. And I don't think that we needed to actually see it this year to know that that's the mistake you make if you're Chicago. And so what you've done is, as amidst this rookie scale that you have, this rookie pay scale, you've wasted a year of Caleb Williams's career. He's in a division where you can't afford to fall behind because they're all good teams. But Chicago has now proven to be by far the worst of that foursome, and you've just you've thrown a year away. I'm starting to notice, Look, when you draft a quarterback this high, you've got to have the right apparatus in place. Your coach has got to be right. Look at Trevor Lawrence came in, You're one Urban Meyer disaster. I don't think he's ever lived up to what he could have been. And I don't know if that harmed him. I don't know if that set him back to where he never really recovered, never came back to what he could have potentially been. And I understand his career is not over. But Drake May didn't have the same level of expectation in New England. He comes in and he really makes one super play last last week and gets him into overtime with that just insanity. But you feel better about him right now than Caleb, even though we know the Patriots are terrible, but we knew he didn't have a lot around him. But we also knew that Drop Mayo kind of knew what he was doing and is a tough minded head coach that was going to come in and they were gonna need. What they're gonna need is the right general manager and the right talent. And this offseason for Drake may is gonna be hugely important. Well, it's gonna be hugely important for Caleb Williams too, but on the coaching staff side, because I don't know that we can really evaluate fairly what Caleb Williams is because when we think about Jayden Daniels, the situation that he's in with those coaches plus his overall talent, all ships are rising together and in Chicago all ships are falling. And I think I have to point most of the blame to the coach here, even though it's the play that's out there not playing well. I just don't think that's a situation where he can flourish.
I'll tell you what, Jamart, I want to come back and react to some of what you just said, and just the state of the Bears in general as they get set to take on the Patriots on Sunday. Come back more on what's going on in Chicago before we get to that, though, Do want to toss it over the news desk de Sager, I feel like there's a lot trending at this hour of the night.
Yeah, you mentioned Jacksonville. It was known that Lawrence was already listed as questionable, but the Jags quarterback is likely out this weekend with the left shoulder injury he'd been limited in practice Minnesotas at Jacksonville. You mentioned Washington kicker Austin Cybert is out with a hip injury. The team elevated kickers a Gonzalez. Washington running back Brian Robinson is out again with a hamstring injury. New Commanders defensive back Marshawn Lattimore is also out. Washington host Pittsburgh, and the Houston Texans activated wide receiver Nico Collins. He's listed as questionable for Sunday night against the Lions after his hamster injury. By the way, Bill's wide receiver key On Coleman out with a wrist injury. Buffalo's at the Colts. Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman is out this weekend with back end finger injuries. We have one great NFL stat to pass along and one great college football stat. First off Associated Press points out that the Cleveland Browns this year have more yards punting than on offense.
Wow, that is astounding.
That is how much are they paying Deshaun Watson per yard before he got injured? Well, yeah, considering some mathematician out there figure it.
Out, considering the contract doesn't end this year. Yeah.
You know, when the Rams first moved back to LA with Jeff Fisher as coach, the Rams for a full season had more yards punting than on offense that year and the Jets last year. But currently the Cleveland Browns have exactly twenty six hundred yards punting and under twenty five hundred.
Yards on offense.
Gross.
And then after the craziness at the end of the Missouri win over Oak, SEC Network says this is the first conference game there in over twenty years. With four touchdowns scored in the last three and a half minutes of regulation. Sooners were ahead on a fumble return. They took the lead with two minutes to go Missouri thirty to twenty three to the final. This was a Missouri game where they were down in the third quarter nine to three and thirty to twenty three. Missou is the final with the backup quarterback. As for the games in progress, it's early third quarter. At Utah they're leading their rivals ninth ranked BYU twenty one to ten halftime. At number twenty one ranked Washington State Cougar's over Utah State twenty one to seven. At Hawaii, UNLV's lead is now twenty nine twenty seven. That's about four minutes left in that game, and it's on FS one under nine minutes to go. At air Force, they're pulling off the upset against Fresno State thirty three to twenty three. Air Force leading in the fourth air Force one and seven this season, by the way, in the Big Ten. Rutgers beat Minnesota today. Last night, UCLA came back to beat Iowa. UTAP was one and eight, but got a double overtime win against Kennesaw State, which is one and eight. Western Kentucky five and ohing Conference USA after winning at New Mexico State, and the Connecticut Huskies get.
Their first everything today.
Maybe They got their first road win in football thirty one twenty three in a comeback at UAB with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Connecticut football is seven and three, third ranked more third rank Connecticut basketball pulled away eventually to beat New Hampshire ninety two to fifty three. But you mentioned the hoops game at number four Houston tonight. Eleventh ranked Auburn does get the win seventy four to sixty nine. And the backstory, Auburn's flight to Houston yesterday had to turn around because the fight on board between teammates. Those teammates missed this upset win on the road. There was a game in Dallas where number eight Baylor beat sixteenth ranked dark and Saw seven two to sixty seven. And guys, the CFL's Gray Cup is a week from tomorrow. They just had their let's call it Conference finals East and West today. Toronto a winner over Argonauts right at Montreal. That is correct, thirty to twenty eight. And Toronto quarterback is Chad Kelly from Old Miss. He had one touchdown and two interceptions. And Winnipeg at home advanced thirty eight twenty two over Saskatchewan. Zach Kolaros University of Cincinnati over three hundred years.
A million years ago. He's got to be like, he's like the Torady of the CFL. Man, he's just going strong.
It four touchdown passes for Winnipeg and he's in the Gray Cup.
Final a week from Sunday.
Back to you.
I didn't think I was gonna be googling Zach Kolearos tonight.
He is. Well. I was just thinking about also just thinking about Chad Kelly. Can you still call yourself swag if you're in the CFL?
Yeah?
Yeah, I mean, is there anyone in Canada where swag is applicable?
Any individual?
It's coming from me, a forty six year old who's never been accused of swag. But that's maybe why I can have this discussion because I know my own and when you when you play in the CFL and living, I guess live in Canada. I don't know if you can call yourself swag. I don't know that swag is a thing in Canada. What's the last thing with swag?
Isn't Drake from Toronto?
Also?
Yeah, he started from the bottom y Kendrick.
Lamar ensured he would never have swag.
Jamal Murray's got swag. Shake, Alexander, you're.
Making you're making the point here.
Justin Bieber, Yeah, justin Bieber's Canadian Wayne Gretzky didn't need swag.
All he did was I.
Mean, I thought about Gretzky, of course, and I mean you can think of a number of hockey players. But I don't know if I just called him like, yeah.
I just thought you meant swag because lack of swag because he is in the CFL.
Well, now, I wasn't trying to dog out the CFL. I was really trying to mock Canada for fun.
Wow.
Neither one of those two things worked out perfectly. It's okay, I love Canada. I got coffee downstairs.
Oh do you It didn't sound like you love Canada right there.
Don't don't allow me to get out of this hole.
Okay, well possible. I will give you an updates.
Zach Klara, as they call it in hockey in Canada. That was a safe Oh was it?
Okay? Yeah?
Okay, thanks Don Cherry. Appreciate you Don Cherry.
Over there on the Hockey Night in America.
Over here, Zach Clara's is thirty six years old because he was he was at you know, to make this about Yukon football, he was at Cincinnati playing for Brian Kelly. May maybe Brian, Yeah, I think it was Brian Kelly when I was at Yukon. So thirty six year old Zach Klaro's just balling out playing for a great Cup next week. So all right, you know who's not balling out Caleb Williams. Let's get back to that. And he's not swaggy either right now, I can.
No one else is not swaggy. The NHL ratings just taking another.
Show, no no reason.
Hockey go ahead.
There's another winter sport that the ratings aren't very good for right now, but curling. Uh no, not curling. I won't you know, I won't name names. Uh oh wait, let's put it this way. We've talked more G League than the the other one, uh on this show so far. G League and college basketball, come to think of it.
Anyway.
Uh yeah, Caleb Williams, I just want to put a ball on this because this was something I was on in the summer. I remember talking about it. It's like there was a stupid air narrative of like, oh you know, I mean, no quarterback has ever had a better setup as a rookie than Caleb. But and it was just so dumb for all the reasons that you laid out a minute ago, J Mart of this, this Matt Eberflus thing is like, there's no quarterback that you can say has a perfect setup or the best setup ever when he has a coach on the hot seat who's a defensive head coach. And the thing with Caleb Williams is the poor guy is regressing. I mean there was. It was just so lifeless watching them against the Arizona Cardinals last week. And I know the Cardinals are playing well atop the NFC West, but it's not like their defense is the steel curtain here the eighty five Bears. It's like, but the Bears could not move the ball. He is regressing. I mean, Caleble, you can say whatever you want about he was still awesome last year at USC, and you know he was a guy that played with swag even as his team was losing. It was never his fault and he was playing at a really high level. So the only thing I was gonna do to put a bow on that conversation is one just say I agree with you on the Matt eberflu stuff. But two, I just hope and I have zero confidence that the Bears will figure it out, because the Bears have never figured it out in my entire life really in terms of making the right decisions when you need to. I just hope they find the right coach. First of all, I hope they move off ebra flues this after this year. I have to assume they will right. And I hope they get the right coach. I hope they get an offensive minded coach, because this guy has too much natural talent to be play the way that he is twenty two to forty one last week, two hundred and seventeen yards, the Bears don't find the end zone.
Jmark, You know what I think would be super interesting. I don't know that it would happen. What if Ben Johnson stayed in the division, left Detroit and went to Chicago and then started a rivalry with so former boss Dan Campbell.
Cause he you can tell just by watching the Lions like it's he is so creative in what he does.
Amazing.
Yeah, and I don't I'm not a scheme guy, but it's like the double reverses and you're throwing it tight I still go back to that Cowboys game where they're throwing a piney seol in the red zone. They're up like forty eight to three or something like that. So listen, I mean, one bet Johnson's gonna leave eventually. And two he is so creative as a play caller, and and and you know the reason he and I think it made sense. The reason he didn't leave last year was because all the reporting was he felt like there was one great job that was the the place that had justin Herbert that went to Jim Harbaugh, and I just you know, I know he was set to interview for the Washington Commander's job, but you know, didn't want to start over with a rookie quarterback and and in an organization that frankly hadn't you know, hadn't had much success.
So it's hard to blame him for that. But at some point he's going to leave.
You would think this year would be the year, and not having taken much time to think about it, it's probably the best job that could potentially open, unless you really love wanting to coach Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, which I don't can't imagine that you do, so I would hope that that's the guy that end up getting well.
I will say this, Well, I'll throw this hypothetical question out that we may never have a chance to answer based on our schedule tonight. But if the roles were reversed in Chicago had taken Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams had gone to Washington, what would both of them right now?
Oh, that's such an interesting conversation. We got to say her coming up. Maybe we save that for hour four because I think that is a really interesting cover.
No, I mean out were three. I wasn't even trying to be funny.
There is like, because I do think there is something too as good as Jayde and Daniels is he is the one that has the near perfect situation. Caleb Williams, you know it couldn't be I believe much of a worse situation. So maybe now we're three, we discussed that. Tell you what, though, we do have to say you're coming up. He's got so much to update you on. We'll do that next. Fox Sports Radio, Welcome back everybody. Fox Sports Radio. Eric Torres days Martin broadcasting live from the Tireck dot Com studios to say, we'll get to you in half a second. I did just see this pop up on my feed. A follow up from the Auburn Houston game. Auburn wins the day after a fisticuffs on their flight. Apparently Jane I Broom, their best player, went live, you know, either on Instagram or one of the social media platforms, and one of the players on the Instagram live said, when you lock a bunch of dogs on a plane, what do you expect is gonna happen?
Horseplay?
Horse play.
Auburn gets the win, they upset the top five team in Houston. When you get a bunch of dogs on it, When you lock a bunch of dogs on an airplane, what do you expect to happen? Steve de Sager, go ahead, top that to Saga.
Time to pass out to David Ortiz my dog t shirts. You guys were mentioning last segment the NHL TV ratings. I can back that up because Wednesday night's national game for TNT, which is also on True TV at the same time. By the way, the live combined audience for Red Wings Blackhawks was four hundred and eleven thousand viewers nationally. And if this sounds like, that's not much for live sports. You're correct, A and b Ion got much more than that for its WNBA this year. It averaged six hundred and seventy thousand viewers.
For what day was that?
This was Wednesday night NHL.
Okay, you said Tuesday someone, Well, a lot of us were watching something else Tuesday. Yeah.
No, yeah, And besides, there's often been TNT sports with NBA over the years on Tuesday. No, this was a Wednesday National game. Well, Ashton gent narrowly got a win, but three more touchdown runs. Twelfth rank Boise State beat Nevada twenty eight twenty one. In the Mountain West, Gent up to twenty three rushing touchdowns this season, stat Seeing saying that's the most by any FBS player through his team's first nine games since Ricky Williams for Texas over twenty five years ago. Also in the Mountain West, we've got an upset brewing on FS one as air Force one in seven this year leads with two minutes to go against Fresno State thirty three twenty one, an air Force is driving in thirty three degree weather with snow on the ground. On the sidelines, We've got number twenty one Washington State leading twenty eight seven over Utah State early third quarter, and by the way, UNLV has won at Hawaii twenty nine to twenty seven. Utah is hosting rival BYU tonight. Ninth ranked BYU is undefeated this season eight to oh and trailing at Utah twenty one thirteen now mid third quarter.
Already in the top ten.
Georgia lost and Miami, which was nine to oh lost Third ranked Georgia lost its game at number sixteen Ole, miss twenty eight to ten. It was sixteen to ten in the third quarter. Next Saturday, Georgia hosts Tennessee, which won its game at home tonight against Mississippi State, but Georgia quarterback Carson Beck one interception, one fumble, sacked five times.
Georgia Tech at.
Home beat number four Miami twenty eight twenty three, and Georgia Tech had been three to three in the acc It had all of ninety nine yards passing in this win, while cam Ward had three touchdown passes and almost three hundred and fifty yards through the air and one fumble. But Miami loses on the road. The Hurricanes are off next weekend, as is Georgia Tech. Alabama dominated at LSU forty two thirteen. Bama's FI final three games will be against Mercer, Oklahoma and Auburn. Oklahoma somehow lost at number twenty four Missouri tonight thirty to twenty three. The final Sooners lost four fumbles in this game, two touchdowns for Maszoo in about the last minute to take it, including the game winning stripsack scoop and score, and they didn't have their starting quarterback. Brady Cook was out at Missouri tonight with ankle and wrist injuries. He had started thirty five straight games, drew pine three touchdown passes. Oklahoma now one and five in conference and twenty fifth ranked Army is nine to zero after winning fourteen to three at North Texas. Army led seven to three for most of the game. One of Army's touchdown drives was twenty one plays ninety four yards and lasted nearly fourteen minutes. Off next week and then they're playing Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium. Wins for Navy and Tulane today as well.

Week ten, NFL Week ten, NFL Week eleven, College Football. It spent all summer talking j Martin talking, talking, talking, and then the season starts and it just flies on by.
Yeah, we've got two more games left in a regular season in college football, and we're already passed a halfway point in the NFL. It just it goes on. Hey man, we're about to get the n season tournament, though, weren't we Oh is that still a thing in there, like a there's like a cup or something. Well, it's there's a couple of NBA games being played later this week involving a cup. Oh.
I will tell you, Hey, credit to the NBA media for not shoving this down our throats last year. I just remember this time last year. It's like, no, look, I mean, this is an NBA Cup game. There's a different cord and da da da da da, and it's.
There's a different court, and there's a different court and the court looks different.
And yeah, remember remember when the Lakers were so happy with their NBA Cup championship last year that they fired Darvin Ham after winning that a year three months later.
I mean, how much you should at least get like five years worth of equity. I don't winning a championship like that, Like that's that's very unceremonious to let a championship winning coach go. That's that's true. We're winning a title.
That's unbelievable.
You know.
I will tell you this in all seriousness. Uh, as far as the NBA Cup is concerned, I was gonna make a great point I kind of forgot it already, which is kind of a metaphor for for the event. It's Oh, it still goes back to I remember you and I being on air the night they announced the parameters of it, and they were like, yeah, you know, there's three cup standings games for every dah da da da, and we were like, I thought it was a.
Mid season tournament. Just play.
I still say, just bring everybody to Vegas and play in actual tournament. Just play a tournament, thirty teams, single elimination, whatever it is, five million dollar, first prize, winner takes all, whatever, Just play a tournament.
People would be into that.
Play you know, pick a Tuesday, put six game or you know a Friday or whatever. Put six games on back to back back starting at you know, eleven am local time or whatever to Eastern play until two am at night.
Like people would be into that.
But this whole uh I I had in all series, I'd actually forgotten that that was a thing, Like I know that it was, but it wasn't even something that crossed my mind as something going on right now. So it shows you the how much it resonates with the with the average fans.
So yeah, it doesn't. I don't know what else to say. Maybe maybe we should cover it more extensively this year.
Should we should be now there, now that now that now that it's its tradition in the NBA, like now that it's long standing and there's no way to avoid it and it's just become part of the fabric of America, perhaps we should we should devote at least half a show to it going forward, even in the all season we can at least predict the next end season turnal. What if we just became like the uh, you know, the NBA Cup guys, and like we you know, we did the pod, you know, we started a podcast whatever, and we just went all in on it. You know, like there's a couple of people that went all in on just a WNBA this year that had never been interested before Caitlyn Clark. We could be the guys for the w for the NBA Cup.
We could be they ask you a quo, I I want to ask you a question about that, actually, not about the WNBA, about the NBA Cup. If we started doing a podcast, that would be fun, but it would be a troll and people would know it was a troll. But so college basketball. College women's basketball is like big matchups tomorrow, I think, and it's kind of getting kicked off, and they're after a historic year. We're seeing all this. I am, are you interested to see whether or not the ratings are there this year? I mean there's some studs, right, I mean, you've got what's her name at Southern Colours, You've got Beckers at Connecticut, and like, you've still got some players. But I'm curious to see what the we know Caitlin Clark doesn't play in college basketball women's college basketball season, like, interest level is comparatively because we've been told, and we've been battered and beaten with all these articles everywhere about how this league is on the rise and it's going nowhere and now Patrick Mahomes wants a WNBA team in Kansas City and all this other kind of stuff and all, I mean, all that's gravy whatever, But I still am curious whether or not you have a league, or whether or not you have a sport, or you still just have one player in the WNBA. And now college basketball is not women's college hoops is not really gonna have There's not going to be that much there either. I mean I'm not necessarily saying I'm rooting for either side. I'm just I'm curious to see whether or not anyone is talking about this in March.
So I will tell you a couple thoughts on this. I actually do have a couple of thoughts. One I will say, and I'm not trying to sound mean spirited, but.
It was interesting to me. The first game.
You know, you mentioned that college hoops is open this weekend, men's and women's. The first game broadcast on ESPN this year of college basssketball was Ole Miss USC women and that's obviously juju Watkins. Now, maybe I just don't watch enough ESPN, but I felt like there was no like buzz, no, no, like I had no awareness that that was a game that was on. I usually, you know, work out in the morning, take the dog out, and then as I'm making breakfast, I flip on the TV and that's usually when cow Herd's on whatever, But I, you know, I just kind of flipped on the TV. ESPN was on, and it just so happened that that game was on, and I was like, oh, I feel like I'm surprised I either didn't hear about this, or maybe I don't care what I will say about women's basketball, and I say this, I'll do all the caveats.
I went to Yukon.
Everybody's gonna say that I'm a sexist and I hate women and I don't want to see them succeed and blah blah blah blah blah, this, and that I've probably been to more women's basketball games than you, like, I just have, and I've probably followed it much closer than you have prior to the last twenty four months. The only thing I'm gonna say, and I said this like year, I think the Iowa LSU thing was such a perfect storm because it was really a two year story where all the characters were exactly the same. It was two final fours ago where you have Angel Reese versus Caitlyn Clark. They're chirping at each other. Kitlyn Clark does the hand in front of the face, then Angel Reese does it. And by the way, it's also worth noting remember in that Final four, South Carolina came in undefeated. They were on some crazy, you know, like seventy game undefeated streak. So you have basically David versus Goliath in the Final four Caitlyn Clark ends up basically single handedly beating Dawn Staley, keeping her from winning a second straight national championship. Then you have Kitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. Then all of the characters come back. Then you have the perfect storm of Kitlin Clark's setting all these records.
How about this.
You get to an NCAA tournament where I think the committee kind of screwed up, but you had Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese in the in the Elite eight. Then he had Kaitlyn Clark versus Yukon and Page Beckers in the final four. Then he had Kaitlyn Clark versus South Carolina in the championship game. Like you quite literally could not have scripted it better. And so this is just a super duper long way of me saying it was a perfect storm. I think because the storm was so perfect that it will be a rising tide that lifts women's college basketball during the regular season. I just don't think it's gonna be anywhere close to what it was, because, again, it was such a perfect story in a perfect storm a year ago.
I think it was so perfect that it's gonna feel like a letdown and I don't know that that's going to be immediate. But I don't think that the rising tide you just described is something that lasts. I think it might. You can drift off it for a time, but you have to have something else there. And considering the Caitlin Clark angel Reas thing, we've never seen anything like that before in women's college basketball. It's not pro wrestling. You can't manufacture this stuff. You can't make it happen. You just have to organically get lucky. And I don't know whether or not women's basketball can or not. So I wasn't expecting to open Third Hour with that, but it just came to mind. Now.
I think it's an interesting question, and I will, you know, I will be intrigued just to kind of see how it all plays out. But yeah, I don't know that there was as much juice for the opener as I would have expected. And I will even say this, I didn't feel like the ESPN PR machine pushed that Juju Watkins debut as hard as I would have thought they would, but it remains to be seen.
I'll tell you what.
How about we switched from LSU women's basketball LSU football because they stink. They lost forty two to thirteen to Alabama on Seal.
LSU women might have actually equated themselves better against Alabama well on Saturday than the LSU mental say.
Angel Reese would have at least thrown some elbow, she would have. You know, say what you want about Angel Reese, but she plays with a chip on her shoulder. The LSU football team did none of that on Saturday Night. Saturday Night, LSU loses, Alabama wins forty two to thirteen. Is that more a story about Alabama or is it a story about LSU just stinking.
I think the LSU part of it's not that interesting to me, just because I haven't been blown away by them all year, and for some reason, I kept being told, well, Lshu's still in the mix, but I haven't seen it. The Alabama side of it. It's just the moments where you see them where they just look so dominant, and then the other moments when they look exactly the opposite. They look like they can go out and even beat Georgia, because they did, and then they can lose to Vanderbilt, and then of course we see what Georgia is now. I think it's I think it's more about Alabama because LSU is going nowhere fast. I think maybe long term it's more about LSU only because you know, I don't Brian Kelly's gonna be there for a while, I guess. But next year is going to be pretty important for LSU, like they're going to have to come back strong, because they didn't even look like they've belonged to the same field as Alabama, and it was in their home building. Yes there was rain and all this, but Alabama had to play in the rain too, and Joyn Milroe ran for one hundred and eighty five yards by himself in that football game and could have run for a thousand if he had wanted to. So I don't know. I guess it's more about Alabama this year because LSU we can stop talking about, we can stop caring about. They go back to being one of those teams it's like twenty to twenty five in the country that's just playing a couple interesting games at the end of the year and that's just it. And then Alabama we have to start looking at them and saying, well, I mean, what kind of damage can they do? We know they have talent on the field, But what kind of damage can they do when a college football playoff. And I still kind of think they're Tier two point five or so in the country just because there's no consistency there and there's not a plethora of dynamic players on either side of the ball.
I was gonna ask you, does it change the Alabama perspective, because to me, it's a great win, it's a great moment, but it was still a game where and by the way, this is kind of a cop out because Jalen Milroe was so unbelievable that you know, you can't dismiss that he was basically their entire offense. Because when you rush for one hundred and eighty five yards at the quarterback position and average fifteen yards per carry and score four touchdowns and double your opponent's output on your own, it's hard for me to blame that becoming the entire offense. But I do wonder if that is essentially the entire offense. And you look at Alabama, They're sitting at seven and two, they've won two straight since losing against Tennessee. But you go back and when they have struggled, it has basically been because Jalen Milroe cannot make plays with his feet, and so you don't want to dismiss a win like this, especially on the road. But it is a little hard for me to get excited about Alabama and being able to do it two three weeks in a row against the elite of the elite in college football, because I still don't really know what their offense is when their quarterback is it averaging fifteen carry like he did on Saturday night.
So listen, I think that, like listening to you over the last like thirty thirty five seconds, it made me think of something. This team right here reminds me. This this Alabama team, the way that they played and the way that they win when they win, reminds me a lot of a less exciting LSU from last year because you had Jade and Daniels doing so much for them. Last year. They didn't win every game, but Jade Daniels was the cause of almost everything good that happened from them. It was him, and of course it was Neighbors. But you have you had didn't have like a ton of dynamic players, but you had one that was just overwhelmingly dynamic. But the defense wasn't like off the charts great. It was they were always yeah, exactly. So they're just out there like doing everything they can and then you know, we've seen this now. I mean Caleb had to do it last year USC with a bad defense. We saw Bryce Young even at Alabama his last year, it seemed like he was doing almost everything for that team that could be done. Now you're seeing the same thing with Milroe. I'm not saying mil Row is the same player as Jayden Daniels, but Jen but Jalalen. That team goes as he goes. If a defense is able to spy him and keep him under wraps and actually get to him in the backfield, you're gonna beat Alabama. You just are because defensively, they're not gonna beat you the way they have in years past. Look at go back and watch the Vanderbilt game and watch Vanderbilt completely run it between the tackles down their throat in the fourth quarter and Diego Pavia making one play after another to beat them. That's the same Vanderbilt team. By the way, they got beat by three touchdowns by South Carolina yesterday. So I'm fascinated watching Alabama because I don't know what the ceiling is for that team, but I kind of feel about them, kind of a minor league version of what I felt about LSU last year.
Well, all I'll say about the Jayden Daniels of it is I remember having this conversation only with you, but just anyone who you tak college football with, of people were arguing, oh, you know, you know died Jade and Daniels. He lost three games, And I will say I think there was some revisionist history on Michael Pennix, because the revisionist history came after Michael Pennix won a Pack twelve champions or I guess it was after he beat Texas in the College Football Playoff. But it was like, if you actually go back and look at some of those LSU games last year, basically LSU went nine to three, they would have been like a six and six team if they got average quarterback play. And I forget what game it was, It might have even been as early as the USC game this year. I feel like I heard Kirk Herbstreet say it, so maybe it was the USC game early, but you realize that, like without a mobile quarterback, LSU's offense is very, very, very limited, and so Jade and Daniels. You know, it just goes back to what I just said a second ago, is like people last year, Oh he's nine and they went nine to three. I mean, how can you seriously get And it's like, well, look at what they would be like without him, And now we get to see what they look like without him, and they're an absolute disaster.
Yeah they are, and there's not really anything they can do about it this year. But again, this becomes a very important off season for LSU because they're gonna have to come back and be better because I don't know if they're just gonna let Brian Kelly continue year after year after year. At least the pressure is going to ramp up. I don't think they're going to try to get rid of Brian Kelly, but Kelly himself has to know it's got to be better than this, because he doesn't look like he's having fun right now at all.
Well, it'll be interesting.
I mean, obviously there's a little bit of a big story developing around LSU, which Bernie Fratto would be the perfect person to talk to about this. But number one quarterback in the country's committed to LSU. He's from Michigan and they're saying that Michigan is trying to make a late push to get him.
So clearly, ellis what's.
That Both those teams could use him? Oh?
Both those not only they could could they use them? They desperately need them. And I think if you're Brian Kelly, that's kind of got to be your saving grace is Hey, man, it's not good right now, but we got this guy coming in.
Uh.
But the only reason I bring it up is because one, Uh, if this kid his name is Bryce Underwood, but like, if he's as good as everybody says he is, that's exactly what LSU needs because they are just not dynamic enough at quarterback right now. But to the opposite is true as well, if they somehow lose him to Michigan. Brian, Brian, you know, the approval rating of Brian Kelly is not gonna be very high. Jaymart I don't know how to.
How to like make this into a conversation because there is no answer. But you've you posed a really interesting question last hour. So we were kind of talking about Chicago Bears playing the New England Patriots on Sunday in Week ten and the idea of Caleb Williams very clearly regressing, you know, in a situation in Chicago with Maddy Eberflu's defensive head coach, who we all think is going to be fired after this year. Virtually everybody other than Chicago Bears management probably thought he shouldn't come back this year, and that if you're going to start over with a new head, if you're gonna start over with the number one pick in the draft, you might as well start over with a new head coach rather than retaining a coach that is entering year this year on the hot seat. Bring it up, because you brought up an interesting point. Washington Commanders, new head coach, new GM, new offensive coordinator, new quarterback in Jade and Daniels. They are now seven and two leading the division. Chicago Bears, same regime that was disaster last year and in previous years returns and tries to kind of make you know, chicken salad out of chicken whatever with Caleb Williams. So the question you posed, and I thought it was a good one, was if Jade and Daniels had gone number one overall and was put in this situation, and if Caleb Williams had gone number two overall and was put in the situation Jaden Daniels is currently in, what would be going on with those two quarterbacks? And it's clearly something you've probably thought about a little bit. So I'm gonna give you the floor because I thought it was an absolutely fascinating question.
Well maybe a little bit. I haven't thought about it a ton. It kind of came to me on the spur of the moment, if only just because the discourse surrounding Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels has been so different, and of course that's going to happen when you see the difference in how they've played. I think that watching the two of them both in college and the NFL, if you have a worse situation, I think Jaden Daniels gives you a better chance. And maybe I'm not maybe I'm a little wishy washing on that, but I think if you put him in Chicago, it would have gone a little better. I think Caleb flourishes in the right system a lot faster anybody would. But I think Jayden Daniels is a bit more of a unique talent when it comes to all of what he does and watching we talked about LSU and what they didn't have defensively and all these other kinds of things, and Caleb didn't have a lot of defense either at USC. But I just think that Jaden Daniels has a few more facets to his game that could have covered for a few more sins on the field if he had been in Chicago. Doesn't mean they made a mistake by drafting one or the other or whatever, but I do think that they would probably be a little better because I really watching it, it feels to me like Aiden Daniels is a more polished product than Caleb Williams. At this point. Caleb might needed a little bit more time where he might have just needed a perfect situation to fall into the right circumstances surrounding it to where he could really kind of get off that runway quickly and get into the sky. And I think that he's still going to get there It's not like I'm looking at him and I'm worried about him long term. But I maybe I'm wrong. You tell me how you feel about it, but I look at it and I just think that Jaden Daniels offers you a little bit more because he's a little bit more capable of being a one man band, just because of what he went through in his college career.
So I'll be perfectly honest, I think that if the same two quarterbacks were put into the same two situations, so basically we got a little freaky Friday, they just switch bodies, and you know, Jaden Daniels is still you know, he's a quarterback with the Bears, and still Maddieberflus and Shane Waldron and would have and Caleb Williams is in Washington. I don't think the Commanders are quite as good, but pretty close.
And I actually think the Bears are about.
The same because I just think that, you know, you could sit here and say, Jayden Daniels is this incredibly gifted kid, and he is, but I also bring it up because he is also in a system that is letting him be him, and it is clear that that is not what is going on in Chicago, and so I just think bad coaching that is leading to underdevelopment is bad coaching that is leading to underdevelopment, and that would happen to any quarterback that was put in that situation. And so yeah, and by the way, Jaden Daniels, because his skill set is so unique, you have to let him be one hundred percent Jayden Daniels.
All the time or you're not.
You know, you're not gonna get this Jaden Daniels if you're not one hundred percent all in. And I just believe that that eber Fluce in that offense and that that staff because of the way that that you know, who eber Fluce is in his background and whatever, I just don't think they're gonna let any quarterback one hundred percent loose and one hundred percent be true to himself. And so because of it, I don't think that Jaden Daniels would be anywhere close to what he is if if he if he was in Chicago with the Bears.
And then Caleb Williams. Conversely, I go back.
To what I've said from the beginning, is dan Quinn when you give him a you know, you know, dan Quinn when he trusts his offensive coordinator has proven he can win at a very high level. He went to a Super Bowl. They were up twenty eight to three in that Super Bowl. So you know, I don't know if Caleb Williams be quite as good as Jayden Daniels. But what I do believe, and I truly mean it, is I don't think that Jaden Daniels would be the Jaden Daniels that we see in Washington if he was in Chicago with that particular coaching step.
Okay, I think you make a lot of good points there. I think the biggest thing is, if what you say is true, then Eberflush should be fired now. He should I am right now today, not at the end of the season, right now today. If that is indeed accurate, that if Jaden Daniels goes in there you've still got the same issues and you don't think that they're much better, then you fire him now because you are greatly harming Kavi Williams development. At this point, I think we kind of agree that that's true. I also think your point about dan Quinn is interesting in that one. Let's credit Cliff Kingsbury because he's doing a really nice job this year is offensive coordinator, and it seems like he's really in sync with Jayden Daniels. But it also makes me wonder what would the Dallas Cowboys be if you had hired dan Quinn and not kept Mike McCarthy yet, and then let dan Quinn bring in the same kind of a staff that comes in there with an offensive coordinator he trusts, and you've still got Dak Prescott, and you've still got Cede Lamb, and you've still got a lot of these same guys. What are you looking at then, Like, what did you do to your franchise, Jerry Jones by letting dan Quinn walk out the door and maintaining Mike McCarthy.
It's a fascinating question, and there's no good answer. Does kind of speak to just it speaks to a lot of things. I mean, just how dysfunctional the Cowboys are, how dysfunctional the Bears are, the new ownership group, how important it is to Washington. I mean, it is a fascinating combination of different things. And by the way, I mean, I know you know this. I'm not like saying it as if it's like this big, you know, breaking news story, but like there were a lot of people that were were they not saying, hey, dan Quinn's kind of the secret of the sauce, and you know, I mean it was that defense that up until that Packers game, was a big part of why they were having so much success. So I don't know, man, All I know is that the Bears are a mess. I mean, I didn't even mean to drag the Cowboys into this and have a bunch of strays over there, but they're a mess. And Washington, man, you know, it's crazy because not only are they seven and two, but they are just so built for you know, a significant run here. They got the right quarterback, they got the right coaching staff, I don't think because Cliff Kingsbury crashed and burns so bad with the Arizona car. I don't even know if Cliff Kingsbury want to be a head coach again. So it's like, you probably got that guy for a while. Dan Quinn's not going anywhere. Jaden Daniels is on a rookie contract. I think part of the theme here is that the the Washington Commanders are in very good shape and probably will be for a very long time. Bears, by the way, are a complete mess. So anything else to add. Jmartin, No, I think that's a good way to finish. The Bears are a complete mess. The Bears are a complete mess. The Bears are complete mess, and I just wish I just wish they were run like a normal team that, just like you said, would fire coaches in the middle of the season if that's what it warranted, would make the right moves. And the disappointing thing is Ryan Poles. I think the GM has done a pretty good job of putting talent around Caleb Williams. The issue is, none of it matters if you don't have the right head coach. Fox Sports Radio Eritors Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the Tireck dot Com studios, will come back. Wrap the show one segment left, start to look ahead to a busy Sunday and a busy week ahead in sports. That's all next.
Fox Sports Radio, Welcome back, everybody.
Fox Sports Radio er tors Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the Tirec dot Com studios. We are taking you up till two am Eastern Time. Bernie Frado of The Bernie Frado Show follows us.
Bernie Fratto.
Oh my goodness, Bernie is gonna have so much to discuss. By the way, Bernie coming off the marathon five hour week last week. Know how hard Bernie's working. Cannot wait to listen to him at the top of the hour. Jymar We've talked a lot about the NFL throughout the show. We haven't really gotten into any of the games. There's a couple questions for you. First of all, Christian McCaffrey making his return for the San Francisco forty nine ers against the Tampa Bay Bucks. Kyle Shanah had said unless something disastrous happens, he expects him to be.
On the field.
Don't think anything disastrous has happened because he was activated for tomorrow. What do you expect from the return of Christian McCaffrey.
I mean, I think they're a different team with them. I mean, we know what he's capable of doing if he's healthy, and I assume you're not bringing him back at this stage. Unless he is, you'd wait another week, I guess. But I mean this should be the thing that brings them kind of back to the dance. They're healthier than they've been and you've got McCaffrey coming back. He's a game changing player, both as a pass catcher and what he can do just running the football. That maybe opens up more space for your pass catchers, and it gives Rock Purty a bit of a rest where he maybe doesn't have quite as much on his show holds. That division is full of mediocre teams with higher aspirations, and none higher certainly than the forty nine ers, So I think this gives you a little bit more margin for error in your quarterback and should give you a real boost if you're the forty nine ers. Now you just got to hope that he can stay healthy through the rest of the year and be there for you in the postseason, because he's just one of those guys. There's a handful of them in the league that they're just different. They're built different, that wired different, they play different, and their teams respawn differently when they're on the field than when they're not.
Sunday Night game Texans, they are coming off a bye. The last time they played was back on.
That Thursday games Jets.
Yeah, Thursday and sug Jets. So I guess it isn't a bye.
I think it's just a It feels like a bye, but it isn't a bye, but they are playing pretty much the hottest team in the NFL. Detroit Lions have won six in a row. Good news is that it appears as though for the well, I take that back, I was gonna say Nico Collins still questionable for Sunday, just just in general. Any big expert, this is probably, on paper the best game of the weekend. What do you think about this one?
Jamar? Yeah, the Texans are. They're confusing to me because I expected them to be more consistently better than they've been, but they've also been just destroyed with injuries like Stroud. It's not like I think Stroud is getting worse. I think that he's just had some unlucky things happen this year. You lose to Von Diggs for the entire year, you've had mix and banged up at times. You just mentioned Nico Collins. I think he might go, But even if he doesn't, he's missed a couple of games and he's crucial to you. So they've been hampered. They they kind of need to get moving here. They need to kind of get some rhythm. I think that's what they're lacking, and unfortunately for them, they're just playing against a wagon right now, and I think Detroit, who loves playing indoors anyway, can go there and beat them on the road. This is the kind of game. This is a measuring stick game. If you're Houston, like you want to make a statement in this game, but Dan Campbell teams don't give you that opportunity. That's what we've seen over the last couple of years. I just think this is the wrong time to be playing against this Lions team, and that's unfortunate, even though this should I hope this is as good a game as it we would have assumed it would have been five or six weeks ago.
Yeah, I'll be intrigued by this one as well. Lions are just on fire right now. I think the thing with the Lions is they're winning in so many different ways. I mean, you know, last week in Green Bay really just kind of took their foot off the gas. The elements were not in their favor and they just said, Okay, we'll just ground and pound and win ugly and doesn't really matter. We'll get out of here with the comfortable win. As you said, when they've been indoors, they've basically completely you know, run over people most recently in terms of running over people when they played Dallas a few weeks ago. You think there's any chance Cooper Rush can get well? I always ask these bad questions. Will Cooper Rush keep things competitive for the Cowboys on set on Sunday afternoon against the Eagles.
Probably because Nick Sirianni is the coach for the Hoss and so there'll probably be a couple of decisions that get made in this that make it interesting. Plus it's a division game and these games always get weird. So yeah, I actually think this will be close. Not because Cooper Rush is gonna play out of his mind. I could just see the see this one not being some vintage Philadelphia offensive performance and just being a strange game.
I'll tell you what. By the way, not to twist change the subject here, we may have a little bit of an upset in college football. Utah up twenty one to nineteen over top ten BYU, BYU alone in first place in the Big Twelve standings. I think I think Utah is gonna win this, and if so, it means that by you and the Colorado Buffaloes will be tied atop the Big Twelve standings heading into week twelve j mart coach Prime, maybe playing that Big twelve championship game of Jerry World.
So we saw a couple more undefeated to go down today. You saw Miami go down and you saw BYU go down. And I think is the playoff more interesting with Colorado even if BYU is a better team? I think the answer is yes.
Zero doubt, zero doubt. BYU will see if they can come back. Day trail by two.
Tell you what though, Jabar, we gotta get out of here.
I thank the crew, Mary Mack on the boards, producer Ian Steve de Seger from my partner Jason Martin, I'm ried, Torres. If you missed any of the show, make sure to go back and download the podcast. We talked so much college football, so much NFL give it a little Brownnie Bernie Fratto of The Bernie Fratto Show follows us.
