Plus there's issues glare at both Port Adelaide and Geelong, as question Marx hover over the futures of several key figures. We'll discuss all that, plus much more with all of your favorite segments in the Fox Footy Podcast. Ben Water Earth with you as is the man who on Sunday commenced his annual highly anticipated long run, Max Lawton, Hello.

Maxim's the only run I do all year, Ben, and it works quite well for me though. What a fun time it is to get to buy rounds. Go away, I get the spreadsheet out, tap away, I look at my numbers and go wait, how the hell have I got Toelong in the eight? That doesn't make sense.

It's going to be a fascinating talking one on the Fox for your podcast is the Cats also joining us just hours ahead of a six thirty pm tribunal David.

Zeita, Hello David, too many hours ahead? How are you there?

I'm a bit flat?

Just prime time tribunal, Zita? Though, no, he's on TV the same amounts.

That's all exactly.

The problem is, I.

Just don't have any results for people.

So usually a five pm start comes four if there are to Eastern Eastern of course, well, yes, we're nine Perth and then.

Well some people would listen to this maybe, but this is.

A Victorian club, so clearly you know it's anyway, So you weren't thrilled when you got the notice that you would be staying even later in the.

Office's that's probably putting it mildly.

Yeah, okay, yeah, How could your favorite club do this to you?

My favorite club?

How could your beloved Geelong Cats and your beloved Patrick Dangerfield. One has to presume that this was their request for it to be later, because otherwise why would it be at five o'clock?

I think the lawyers couldn't line up in time or something like that. Apparently there are a myriad of reasons but not thrilled. But that's not about me. The trouble, well, it's about Patrick Jaymerfield and the cats say it is. Well, maybe I'm more entertaining than they are. So's we'll see how it goes.

But it so the case. I know people will be listening to this after the case, but it does seem to split the footy punditry out there in terms of deserved a week or not. How do you see it playing out?

I initially thought that he was fine because I thought that Walsh may have accentuated contact. But then I realized that's not how gravity works, and that's not like.

You canutir Isaac Newton.

Well, I just realized that's not it was explained. That's not actually how gravity works, like you can't Well, if you don't know, just do the research and check what the laws of motion are. And Walsh didn't decide to throw his head into the ground. That's just how it happened because of the circumstances. So I think that as a result of that, my opinion change and I thought that Danger's probably in trouble, so it'd be really interesting case and I think it'll go long, which is really why it's upset me even more than it's starting late.

But that just gives us more time to eat the food that we've been requested to eat from the people of Twitter. I put out the pole which no, we'll never call it that which knits item should David and I trial this time, and David, I can tell you that we'll be eating spicy shnuggets.

I don't have spicy stuff.

I don't think they're going to be very spicy. They're called spicy, but it's not going to be like you know, it's hot, sauce hot.

Like they're called spicy, something spicy if it isn't.

But fast food spice people complain about like mild old El Paso Mexican spiciness because mild.

I don't go beyond mild.

Well, yeah, I get limit and herb, so I'm not great either.

But why are we getting it?

Because that's what the people want.

We don't do everything they tell us to do.

In this case, they do.

I'm looking forward to a Matt Preston stuff food with you next week of a Cravat topical. Looking forward to that. Speaking of Dangerfield and the cats, where do they sit on the run home? Have you got them making the top eight. Maxis you released your first run home for twenty twenty four.

So I do I have them in eight?

Surprise?

Yeah, because of my bias, and also because of their draw, which is the what fourth or fifth easiest on the way home?

So in the short term draw seems tough, but is it after that where it tends to open up a little bit?

So I would divide the cats droid to two. So the next month they need to win at least one game to have a shot, right, because they're on eight wins. Now you need to get to thirteen. No one's ever missed the eight with thirteen wins. It could happen this year because it's a tight race and we've got the extra game, but I still think it's unlikely. So they get the thirteen, they're going to play finals. I suspect they've got four very winnable games in their last five, including West Coast and Adelaide coming to gum HbA, they're placing Kilda at Marvel, and there is one more which I'm forgetting, okay, but you know, winnable games. I'll look it up as I talk, And then the next two are probably they're more winnable ones trying to find it. I'll do it just north of Bunstone. Look, they should be favored in four of those, even if they are bad like they looked on Friday night against Carlton. Then you've got Hawthorne Essendon over your next two weeks, and then the Bulldogs in Collingwood. You would say it's progressively harder starting with Essendon this week. So if they win one of these two, they're a chance they can get to thirteen. If they don't, they probably can't get to thirteen. That's as simple as that. So we'll see where they go. But I don't think they're as terrible as they looked on Friday night. The game before that, they played Sydney relatively close up there in Sydney too, They're not that far off at Their defense is nowhere near what it was at the start of the season when they went seven to zero, but that's even and just gives them such a great platform that they might still sneak in.

So what have you got? Because everyone looks towards the end of Round twenty four and the predictive finals matchups, So what's your predicted finals Week one matchups?

So only the one game in Melbourne would be rather large. A Carlton Collywood qualifying finals. Oh gosh at the MCG.

The last time a carl from Collingwood final.

Was had we nearly we nearly had the granting if they had a beat.

Yeah, yes, it was just very close to that. I think Carton Colly would we haven't had for a while because if it Carlton Essendon's yes, twenty eleven Richmond, yes, but they're not included in this conversation. Thank you for bringing them. Sorry, yeah, I remember so Carton Colly would be a little while. I remember I looked it up for a talking point a few months back. I'll try and find it. But that would be enormous. And then Sydney Essendon in the other qualifying final. Because I have Essendon sticking in the top four. They just have. They've banged enough wins. They're on nine and a half. You know, beat you long this week in particular, there are a great chance of making.

You've got them in the top four.

Even though I don't believe in them, particularly.

You got them in there.

I don't think they're a great team, They're a good.

Answer the question. Yes, okay, okay, sorry, I just asked him. I did answer, I said, he just he just said facts that we said what I asked him as a response to my question about something very specific.

I said I was predicting them to make a qualifying final.

I don't think they're I don't think I don't.

You asked me that question, I might give you a different response. I'm just saying it's perfectly set up for them to go out in straight sets and continue the trend.

Two.

It's well, I mean they're playing Sydney in Dixon. You say preliminary boarding, call yes for the preminary final. And to be fair, you look at the teams they could be facing in a semi final should they lose to Sydney in that qualifying final, and the way I have the bracket going, they would be hosting either Freo or Geelong. That's an entirely winnable semi final.

Absolutely it is.

So it depends on how the bracket shapes up. Because you've got teams like Brisbane, the Bulldogs, even Gws, we have a higher ceiling who could be a semi final opponent, which would be a lot more scary. But there are ways for the Bombers to make a prelimb. I think there are definitely there's definitely one spot in the prelims available, maybe two, depending on how much you believe in Collingwood, Sydney and Carlton are pretty clearly the top two. I think everyone agrees on that right now.

Yep, yes, yep.

So then we see how the rest of it shakes out. Brisbane, if Essenton does fall over a little bit, is definitely a shout of making top four, which is extraordinary because I pretty much ruled them out about a month ago with how many wins they still needed, and they just keep banking them. They're looking really, really good. They've got a lot of games left at the Gabba and a Q clash and winnable.

Games Ashcroft back maybe this week out and about.

So I think there's I would have Brisbane favorite in seven of their last nine games they've got. They've got a host Sydney and then they have Collingwood at the g so those are both tough. But if they win seven, they're well within a striking distance of the top four.

So who goes out of the top eight port Port goes out.

I think most people would have Port sliding right now, given their performances.

And what's that would that would mean Ken goes out, you would think, So what's the difficulty of their draw going home?

It is one of the hardest, right, So that does make that does make things more difficult for them. They have some sort of winnable games, like getting the Bulldogs in Adelaide right now, Like you can't really have them favor can you?

And I think Kingy did this on the watch List on three sixty a couple of weeks ago, that there are games that Port Adelaide should win and then there's the make or break games and it was and all of them, including the games that they should win, all of them are like you probably can't tip them with one hundred percent confidence.

What would you even classify since Kilda at Marvel this week's I'm leaning tippinking fifty at best fifty fifty, I'm leaning tipping the Saints. So you know, that's a game that absolutely be winning. It's a bottom six team even though they're playing them on the road. So that's that's their problem. The games they've dropped. Thankfully, they had that Hawthorne win which keeps them in the mix, but you know, very easily could fall out. There are just so many teams between seven and eight wins right now, and if Frere had lost to Gold Coast in the final game of the weekend, I think I would have had eight teams predicted to finish between twelve and thirteen wins because my projections are naturally quite conservative, because I don't tip every game.

Is your politics, that's.

Me, you know, mister right wing. That's why my mates with Paul Murray, yes to first names, your Scott, your sky News a compatriot of course.

Yes, well I do work technically for sky News.

Yes, yes, that's why you have all of your opinions that you have. Yes. So my point being is that there will always been teams that proved the projections wrong, like last year. Obviously at this time I did not have Carlton and GWS making the finals and getting to a prelimb. So if you win a bunch of fifty fifties in the last nine games, you can bolt up the ladder more than anyone thinks you would. But also no one can predict that. That's what makes pretty fun.

It is what's making footy fun, but it's not fun at the moment. For Port Adelaide, and it's not just a ken Hinckley discussion at the moment. There is a lot of seems like it. As Robbo said last night, there's a stench around Port Adelaide at the moment that it makes it like it's not a nice place to be, which is remarkable considering that there was a lot of glass half full vibes before the Carlson game which started the three match losing streak. There was sort of an upward trend in the power but the loss on against Brisbane on Saturday seems to have reached fever pitch in terms of the pressure now. I think on ken Hinckley, he's been under pressure before. Max and I were talking about this in the office yesterday's Skeeter. But he's been under pressure before, but it's often been out of season ken Hinckley, because he's in season record has been so good. So it's been out of season where they've been eliminated from finals and after a performance like that in season a year and a half left on the deal. Now it feels like it has reached a fever picture a level that we haven't seen aim towards ken Hinckley during his twelve years.

Yeah, I mean he has had people to face the front of the club with a sack Ken Hinckley poster. Yea like sacking. It's been pretty toxic before. It just seems like it's very even more pointed at the moment. It just seems incredibly It just feels like it's all heading to one conclusion at the moment, which is that he goes.

But closer to a resolution than we've ever been.

Yeah, but then we've probably said that about Look Beveridge. This year, Chris Fagan has had some doubters. You know, We've had a lot of coaches who get put under the Microsoft justin long mule and then they sort of just weather the storm and see if they can get through. So there's still plenty of time for there is a correct course, but there is. Max was talking about their fixture not great, so it makes it pretty tough for I don't know, it seems like it's heading one way, but things can change.

It's weird that we came into a year when he'd just been re signed. The timing of two inches, the timing of the contract was just before they went out in straight sets, so you have to take that into account. Two But we all sort of knew, all right, they don't make finals, he's gone. So even though they tried to give him that security, there was always that sort of underlying context.

Yeah, and they've denied that there's a handshake agreement with Josh Carr about him being the next coach, and maybe they'll maybe they'll open the search wide if it is they decide to part ways with Ken, But it just seems like they've got ducks in the row for that. It it's like they came into this season going, there's no chance that we part ways with Kenny. I think they knew there was a chance, And I think Ken he's a pragmatic guy. He seems like he would know as well where he sits. He would know as well as anyone.

In car already doing a lot of the on field coaching anyway, Well, he's.

The guy in the box while he's on the bench. He's the manager at ground level, and Carr is essentially the brain's on game day from the box.

Sort of has two facets to it. One is that, okay, that's setting him up to be the coach. That's like Ruttena and war'sfold. Yes, And that worked well, And then.

You have to.

But then you have to consider the fact that, all right, if he's already coaching this team and they're playing poorly, that's not a great audition for Josh Carr, is it.

It's not there is I suppose from a board perspective as well, Warren Treda came on to the board in controversial circumstances late last year, got onto the board, and then there's a fascinating twist I think in the port Adelaide narrative yesterday, David, when Warren Tree j was filling in for a co host on five double A radio and a caller goes.

On, is it five double A? Is it five five A?

Yes? Figure five always.

I sometimes would write five the less, but I do have to double che.

The spell check in our processing system has lower case five, and then it's not the capital F. No, it's stylized as lower lowercase and then can you start it's the other way around.

That's so this is the thing I confuse. I think it's five, and the grammatical, the grammatical modification, the grammdical presentation of five double is always confused.

It's all capped like giants. Yes, we can we can discuss the branding of five sorry but he so Warren was filling in. A caller went on and essentially berated Hinckley himself, calling him a con artist and delusional, and Warren Treadrey didn't one, didn't diffuse the situation or refute the claims, and then at the end just said.

Good call, good call, so footy classified.

So that and then apparently that has incensed hierarchy where it wouldn't be through with it. Yeah, where a call was made and Warren attempted to clarify those remarks afterwards, but it just it doesn't talk to a Port Adelaide club at the moment that is divided.

Are we surprised by this?

Well, I would. I would suggest that if once you go onto a board, despite what has happened in the past, and we know that Warren hasn't been Ken's biggest supporter.

The while, that changed once he's at the club.

Big, it should change publicly.

You're not supposed to say that stuff when you're a board man, even if it's what you believe.

Yes, yeah, because they're supposed to be united frontive, but I think they challenge each other behind the scenes.

You work for the club.

It doesn't seem to be working.

Well, this is the yeah, this is the that there is.

I'm not saying kind of harness is extremely defamatory and I don't think that's a fair way to describe Ken Hinckley. But in terms of not having faith in the coach to get the job done, it seems like Warren Treadway's tread has been of that belief for some time.

He has.

He was voted onto the board in the full knowledge that was his viewpoint. So maybe people were voting with their memberships. I don't know what was the actually voted them was they were voting with their votes. That's how most people do vote yes, and it was maybe they're just thinking that's were they voted them in for a reason potentially.

How can you think of a time when a board member has publicly come out.

No, it's ugly, but it's also it seems to be true to what you had the Kevin Feeney stuff in brad Scott. Yes, this is true and he staid on the board. Yes somehow I was.

Going to say he had done even more for the club, but tread Ray was the Premiership captains done quite a bit.

She said that it should have been James hurt.

Yeah, that he came out and said he didn't vote for Scott or whatever.

Yeah, right, he didn't really say bad things about Scott. I forget what happened.

No, he didn't. He just said that. Oh he said because he had a crack at the s and media release and said he was a unanimous vote for Brad Scott and Kevin said no, id it for James su.

I mean, Warren seems to have quite the viewpoint and I think that's changing.

And he also is a close relationship with Josh Carr.

Yeah, I mean, there are conflicts everywhere really you want to look at. But I don't find it surprising that he's doing I find it. Yeah, I'm sure the reaction to it will be voice for us. Some people will get annoyed with it. It doesn't surprise me that that's his reaction when he's been a vocal Yah disapprover. I don't think that's a word of Ken Henckley critic. Thank you of Ken Hinckley.

Have the power overrated their list, I think, I mean, I think they are a roughly average to good team most weeks, and there are a lot of those right now. So they could finish anywhere between fifth and twelfth.

But what did they think they are before this year?

I think they thought they were definitely a finals team, and I think they thought they were improving on a top four list by fixing quote unquote their key defensive stocks, fixing well by recruiting addressing three specific players to bring in and try and reshape that group, which maybe that personnel has performed better than the old personnel would have, but it does seem like a pure structural team. Defensive thing is the problem now, particularly when you've got a midfield that does look more offensively minded than defensively minded and allows teams to just streak out of the midfield. No defense can stop that. It doesn't matter who you have back there. So a lot of the back six criticism is not purely based on those performances.

They're a team that hasn't traditionally rebuilt during the Hinckley era because Hinckley took them over when they're at their lowest air and they have never returned to that since. Geelong is another team that has never rebuilt under Brad Scott hasn't rebuilt essentially for two decades, and he put that very publicly on the agenda. Chris Scott post game, right at the end of his press conference is great.

It was.

It was a great mic drop finish.

And little who is happy to himself with the.

Line haven't rebuilt in fourteen years not going to start. Scot are going to start now. So the question is, David, should they They've got a conundrum at the end of the year where they've been linked to Bailey Smith and they've been linked to Josh Battle. Battles a free agent, so they wouldn't have to trade for him. They would have to trade for Bailey Smith. You're still pretty young in his AFL career. Should they be prioritizing again these two players regenerating on the run or in a midfield heavy draft where the midfield is clearly their biggest issue on the ground, although defensively they've been exposed a bit recently, but let's just say the midfield's the biggest issue. Should they be going towards the best midfielders eighteen year old midfielders this year instead of Smith and Josh Battle No.

I think that they've shown us who they are over the journey and they're going to if they had the choice between those two options. I think every day of the week they're picking Smith and battle going for them, bringing them in, regenerating on the run, bringing in ready made talents, trying to help them go to another level at your club, and compliment the stars who are already there. You expect Dangerfield might go again another year, Jerry Cameron's still there. I mean, while you've still got those sorts of players, Tom Stewart, when you still got those caliber of player, those calibers a player, you need to sort of keep trying to contend until it's until you accept that it's done. And I don't think they would accept that it's done yet, So.

They're not going to be bad anytime soon. I don't think, even with the retirements that we expect of Hawkins Duncan, those types.

Of players too.

He It just makes sense to me that they do that as opposed to go to the draft and do it. They've historically haven't done much, and to.

Be fair, you look at their recent drafting, they've done pretty well without a lot of high picks. The highest pick recently Dry Clark. It's not looked incredible so far, but.

That was a result of a gold cost salary dump.

Yes, so one pick they probably shouldn't have had, so, you know, some sort of footy karma there.

And then they got Tanner Bruin and Ollie Henry who were first round draft picks that went to different clubs and they got them in still very very young.

And Henry seem pretty good, Bruin seems okay. But then you also got de Conning who had an incredible twenty twenty two and has slid off a bit since then, but he had his second he was the second highest rate of player on the ground the other night. Very unique role.

Yeah, I just think it makes more sense to them to do what they've done. And you bring in you try to bringing good names at the trade table, and then you try and leverage your position as a very unique location to try and get established talents who haven't shown enough yet at their other clubs, bring them across back your system means to get the best out of them, and then you get them effectively. You just get these really high end draft picks for discounted prices because you're getting him in you know from other clubs who you've solved the dreams that want to come to you. Therefore you pay less to get them. I just think it makes a lot of sense.

And again we're talking about a club that, according to the run Home, could very much make the top eight this year.

I think if they lose their next four, which is entirely realistic Bombers, Hawks, Pies, Dogs, they should definitely be playing the young kids who've been in the VFL playing quite well. There's a lot of guys who need a longer chance in the seniors, with the likes of Toby Conway, and there are other guys who just haven't got a chance at all who probably need an audition. I think that would be a healthy way to look at the back end of the season. And even if they can sneak into an elimination final, I don't think anyone thinks they're going to be some sort of threat once they get there.

Any teams in the bottom ten at the moment in from a run Home perspective, that we really should be keeping a sneaky eye on.

So other than Brisbane, who I do think they're one of the four best teams and can definitely make top four if things line up correctly. I don't have the Bulldogs in my eight right now. That may very much change this week. I think it's to long losers and the Dogs beat North Melbourne, I'll be projecting the Dogs in the eight. It's those margins are so fine. Being on seven wins is a big disadvantage compared to being on eight wins. They've got to win six of their last nine. They've got a really good percentage they're getting with thirteen wins, but you still got to get the wins on the board. They play North twice and they're remaining nine games. That certainly helps, even if North is improved. So the wins are there, but you can't not think about last year when the Dogs needed to beat one of Hawthorne or West Coast to play finals.

Drop both of them did not win either.

So you still have to believe, you know, I still have to see it on the footy field, even if I believe they might be one of the four best teams right now. Also and then Hawthorne hottest team in it are other than Sydney, but very poor percentage. Seven wins probably means they need to win seven games of their last nine at least six, and they might be able to do that. But either way, this hasn't been an incredible season of success based on the run they've had.

You can check out the full run home at Foxfooty dot com dot AU. That's not the end of the podcast, because it's time for this and now on.

The Fox Footy Podcast. Another strong edition of Australia's favorite segment, Fair or Fast.

Another strong edition of Fair or Fast or You're coming your way.

That's presumptuous.

It's always strong, David. Have you not heard of trying to sell something? David? You know you pump it up so great content.

Speaking of strong, David, Stephen May cheated against North Melbourne Fair or Fast cheat.

He's staged by the definition of the by the definition.

Of the word he did did he he what's the definition of he lied to get a free kick?

By staging?

He's staged. He's not.

I was very very strong.

Maybe I was a bit over the top. I just well, it wasn't really anything against Stephen May. It's just the fact that we've seen so many of these incidents go unpunished.

Yes, and considering the environments that we're in, I think.

I don't know, but even that, like I just it's so clearly staging. And there've been instances in my opinion like this throughout the year where we haven't penalized them, and it's just got to one where all right, if this doesn't get a staging fine, then nothing will and the staging fine's done. It's dead. So that was more. It was not really an attack on Stephen May. It was just the fact that it was a clear stage and we need to.

At least that as an attack on Stephen Man.

No, I'm just saying, well, you're very strike. I saw apparently Simon Goodwin's been a bit upset with some of the people, some of the commentary around specific I'm not expecting you. I don't think he knows my name. So that's about that, David. But I'm just yeah, I just I'm happy that they've actually brought that back in the staging fine and hopefully it's a deterrent. But I mean, Zach Batters has got like forty grand in striking fins. He doesn't seemed to be a two by it.

So speaking of Zach Butter's, Max, Zach Butter's should have been banned by now instead of having to open his wallet again.

Fair or fast? I think well fair because it doesn't seem to have deterred him from doing the exact same thing again and again and again. He's even doing it last year in the finals. I think of the qualifying final. There were a couple of incidents shown on three sixty last night where he was behaving back.

It might have been a couch he could afford it, County.

He would be a well compensated player because he deserves to, because he's rather good. And this does sour one's opinion of him, of a very talented player who keeps doing stupid things and being violent for no reason. Yeah, I'm pro suspending players for a week if they throw any sort of blow like that, even a gut punch. So I would definitely suspend it.

We had this, didn't We have a system.

Yeah, So in twenty eight strikes are out twenty eight when Michael Christian came in, they changed it and got rid of these three fines equaling a suspension. I think there were cases where three fins, one or two of them were questionable, and someone's getting suspended and we go, oh, we hate this, So I understand why they changed it. Yeah, but the escalation of fines, like when you get the matter of your email and you see he's been fined ten thousand dollars, can accept sixty two fifty because they have a weird thirty seven point five percent deduction. Very strange, but like, okay, but is that going to make him completely stop what he's doing? Apparently not?

So, Yeah, was there a middle ground to find here instead of the three the three strike? Yeah? Is there one?

I don't think there is a either keep the system as it is or you or do it a scaling system and then after a certain point you get banned.

Like there are there are none of them.

Think he's gonna stop doing it.

There are incidents that don't necessarily deserve a suspension. We have the tribunal last week with another punch that slid up and yes, you know Rosie gets off with Rosie, wasn't it?

That was? That was zach Bata that was But it's okay, So.

Same player, perfect example. So in that case, I can understand why, with the legal arguments made, he did not intentionally hit his opponent in the face. Yes, I can get that, so you can.

It was more about force not being it was. It was so negligible that it.

Couldn't be because it stad up of the force.

As opposed to the intentionality, But it's I understand what you're saying. I think it needs to Yeah, but it's one player, it is.

But having said he is, it does probably come back to the integrity of the Brownlow Medal in particular. He's a Brownlow Medal contender this year. Is so if that so, if that fine that he received on the weekend just gone, was that was a third fine that led to a suspension, would we be comfortable of him being ineligible for the AFL's Top Best and Fairest.

I would be, I mean, I would be.

I mean, it doesn't seem like a very fair thing to do to keep punching your opponents, and.

It's yeah, despite them, if you're really good at football, despite the But.

He's getting a lot of attention. But I don't like, yeah, having all those striking fines and then.

It's like the Charlie Cameron good behavior clause argument when he'd been fined for striking or rough conduct five times. Yeah, how does that possibly work?

Yeah?

To be fair, Patrick Crips won a Brown though when he got suspended and should not have been let off in that scenario.

Yes, he was memorable night was ever in Lord.

Yes, it's being got upset with me because I was sort of stopped focusing on the blog and I just started making too many jokes.

You were probably hallucinating by that time because I was quite David Liam Baker seems bound for West Coast, fair or fast.

I think I think it's fair. It seems like it's just getting to the point where it just makes sense for him to go to West Coast.

It's not for hour.

Oh sorry, I mean the west excuse me, sorry for.

Okay, So you'd say fast West Coast, but you'd say it's fair. He's bound for Wa.

Yeah, I think so, because both sides could use him. He is on the back end of I don't know if he's the winning of the flag at Richmond, what is he twenty seven six six twenty seven checking this is with a contract that sets him up. I feel like it makes sense go back to his hometown. Yeah. I don't think there's any mouse towards Richard. I think he would want to make sure they're fairly compensated. But my read on it is like it just seems like it's just seems like it's heading in that direction.

He met with that Adam Simpson reportedly during the Richmond mid season break.

Yeah, it makes all the sense of the world for Richmond two. He's exactly the sort of player I know. He's very good, and you'd like to keep your good players to help with the rebuild.

It seems like it could be a really good win win because that you'd get West Coast or free How to pay a high price and you'd be able to get some really good picks in that can help just springboard his rebuild. So I think it works.

Would it be easier for free How to trade for him because they've got the three first rounders? It would be well, the West Coast first is going to be quite high.

Yeah. Easy in terms of yeah, because they.

Have to be Is he worth that high? Such high?

Pie, He's not worth a top five picks, so you know, back into the first round pick sounds about right.

Freer would have more leavers to pull from a.

Trade perspective, would be interesting.

Yeah, Max, all Victorian clubs should their first home final at an away venue.

Fair or fast? No fast, But I completely understand Mark Evans's point that that is just as bad as interstate clubs always have, non Victorian clubs always having to play the Grand Final at the MCG. It is the same principle of you may have earned hosting rights, but do not get to host. The reason this won't happen is because money. Because yes, money, because if Carlton is hosting GWS at a qualifying final this year and they have to play it in that giant stadium, energy ing stadium, Sorry energy, thank you, the energy bright away just left as a matter of fact, which was so upset with there it happened that there was a cheaper deal.

What was your price per killer WAT high off peak off peak? Did you need a service charge just as much as the actual charge for usage?

Have you been doing it?

I'm paying a lot for the electricity. Now.

Mine's like a it's like an integrated it's it's weird in your in your building.

It's like I don't know how it works, but like you get like you're sort of locked into it.

You've got to do the energy compare website, get a get a good, good cheap deal.

I don't know how actually doable it is, but they're paying usage. My usage fee is almost on par with my sorry, my service fee just to having the energy available to me is almost on par with the actual energy cost. I feel like that's not That doesn't seem right to me.

Now let's discuss nuclear power and its role in the energy grid. Yes, Peter Dutton, Yes, fun times again they're not moving those games because of that. But I completely understand Peter Dutton speaking of Queenslanders.

Is he a queens on him?

How relevant? It's interesting their inequities, the grand final one is one that cannot be solved, so making smaller changes do help. The non Victorian clubs with all their travel load, makes all the sense in the world.

That is the end of the end of it. Highly would you call it?

What did you say before you said tense? He said strong, he expects, Before you said strong. Before you started, you said.

I would say that that lived up to all the hype.

Really, No, it's on the Fox Woody podcast.

It's time to open up the mailbag. Have a question for the panel. Tweetus every Monday morning at Fox Footy.

Well, hopefully this doesn't disappoint you quite so much with such.

Great questions disappointing.

From our listeners. Thanks to everyone who responded to the end question.

I'll say Max straight away.

Brains brains, brains.

I liked how I sort of went into fast forward, squeaky kind of.

It better than the other way. I could have gone on the source.

Voice on the source, you know, probably on the sources.

I was going to say, you are you are?

You are arguing me? Point you are? You are arguing me?

Point yes, my favorite part of up the guns.

And then Gary said something and then Brandie's like, don't care, and that was the end of it.

Are on YouTube still those are Remember I watched on this.

You have way too much watching them.

You can do it watching k if you just I've.

Realized that it's so easy to do.

You have one of the best on demand archives that I have seen of anyone in the media. Just all these grabs, just everyone.

I'm just good at finding some another ones. I've had some help from external sources interesting.

Well well placed, impeccably placed sources.

Impeccably placed sources.

Interesting.

Remember how Tommy's to his tom Brown that is, he's like, you had good sinking sours. He ranked his sources. I found that that was would he tell you no? I wonder if you tell you if you are.

A good high end source, you would know based on how he presents your information in the media, wouldn't you as if you were the source? And he said, but he said, okay, source.

He always just he always just gave him the extra like it's like you're on Twitter, on you're an X, you're on whatever, you're on it.

I am.

But then sometimes and then but some people have the tick. Yes, so sometimes we go is something in addition to being a base level user sauce. But he'll just give you the extra added kudos for being a really good sauce. He won't tell you're an average sauce, but he will tell you if you're a really good sauce.

Yea, because he's not going to denigratee mis sauces.

He I don't know.

This is not relevant to the malburg I don't know why. We're like having a barbecue right now. That's true, let's bring our sauces. I'd go barbecues tonight with the what's it called snuggets?

Spicy?

Yeah, they're still snuggets, the nuggets. There's spice, No, there's snuggets.

Yeah, but sorry, but are they are these coming pre spiced or do they come with a sauce?

I suspect they are spiced companiments. I suspect the crumbing is spiced.

So I can't really get out of it, can I?

I mean unless you pick, unless you pick the crumbing off and eat just a piece of chicken. I suppose it would have probably.

In Victor Crumb, of course.

Yes, tournament, it's the trip. Yes, didn't we have that a the Wizard Wizard Cup? Yes, the AFL. Yeah, all the coaches put their names in there, and that's how they drew to.

Win, and then they came last.

I think I was at that game.

It was Tony was wrapped and then they came last.

Geelong won and six six when I.

Was almost lost his job.

Yes, that's right, well, because they were.

Supposed to do so well in O six and then they had Oh yes, of course it's very ordinary season.

Sun asked throwback in the mail bag, what is the perfect number of rounds for the fixture? And I suppose it's a corresponding question from Damien. When are we going to start the discussion of evening up the fixture and playing everybody once home and away over?

Why want we want?

Do we want the broadcast friendly answer or the person.

To say, why would they have less content than that?

Is never going to happen. No, So because even if you're expanding to twenty and doing that, it's still nineteen rounds.

Like it just won't happen, which is also awkward.

You could do nineteen plus one, but that's still twenty rounds, which is again four or five weeks less of content.

Makes no sense, not going to commercially. Of course, I think in terms of being equitable and being a fair and just competition, that's a great idea. I don't love it, but it just won't happen.

Yeah, we have to be realistic about this. So what is living ideals world? What is your ideal round of number of rounds?

Then, well, everyone plays each other once.

Yeah, if we're doing twenty three rounds at the moment, it is every team plays each other once across the first seventeen seasons. Then we split into almost a conference style where we play against each other's seatings sort.

Of weightly areas.

So you're tried like that, does he know they do the seating him and king? Oh?

Right, that means I'm just saying the top ten. But if we've got the twenty teams top ten players off against each other, and then we figure out that includes a draft lottery kind of feel, and then it's almost like a wild card in the top ten is playing like in a wild card kind of set up.

I think you could get to twenty two games when we're at twenty teams, where we have everyone plays each other once yep, plus your local derby, and then you have two gather round equivalents and then there.

But then I suppose if we're aiming for total fairness in that sense, because some teams will play against each other that will have a advantage where it might be first v. Seventeenth.

But if we're talking about adding two games in those gather rounds that are the inequitable part of who you're playing, that's a much lesser impact than six double ups, which we have right now.

Because we will be playing most teams would be playing at a neutral venue.

Yeah, if you're playing your double up at a neutral venue as well, if you can guarantee that, there's a way to try and make that relatively equitable. I know we've just gone to twenty three games, but I liked I like twenty two rounds because it was I'm used to. So there's a traditional element there, but we're not reducing too much further.

Christian Phertragas on three sixty times is yes?

Or he was on three sixty last night or earlier in the week.

If you're listening, you will be he was on Tuesday night.

Yes, I hope you enjoyed it.

If you enjoyed it, yes, what's the next question?

Can I make?

Not an announcement?

You do whatever you like? I except believe I.

Haven't had a coffee and so I feel like I'm just a bit sluggish today, and so the contents not as good as it could be, and the answer and the energy in the room is not as high octane as it is.

I apologize, David, don't worry just a bit.

It's the wintery months and I'm just a bit run down.

This is the exact same level of quality you always pray, is it okay?

I don't think that's true. I feel like I've been off today, but anyway, keep going.

Well, let's see how you respond to this question from Jordan, who asks good Ay Legends. How do I convince my mates Declan, Angus and James to listen to the podcast? They enjoy Skeater's tribunal updates, but won't give this a listen it sounds like he hates us. Ben, well, he's a changing personnel and a man after my own heart.

Then cheered you up.

Well, that's great.

Because you enjoyed David's tribunal updates. From a written perspective or on screen perspective.

I reckon he means social yes, because the on screen is very boring and watered down for the most part.

Yea, why do we get the middle? Do we get the middle version here in the pod cast?

Yeah? No, I like to think you get the more unhinged version on the like I did what was it what's the thing called with Marney of the Age the Right.

Podcast?

When you cheated on us and hosted.

On seeing it's even may. I'm not truing. I'm just sort of maximizing the rules. So you were staging by doing a podcos so I mean, I mean Lives of Performance was on a stage, and so I did this. But then people have said some people said he was really weird, I'm like, really weird and mean on that podcast, and I thought, well, ship, I mean sorry, yes, I it's not really it's just my general.

I watched that and then thought, oh, that's Za behaving exactly as he behaves when he's near.

Me, So yeah, I don't Maybe it only works in with you or with other people. I don't know, but like it just it wasn't received. I think people thought I was being quite rude, and I don't. It's just it doesn't Again, if you only coming across.

Only consume your content from Twitter, you would not expect the abruptness in that way. But it works better also when we're giving it back and forth.

I am abrupt on Twitter text.

It's different to seeing seeing you sitting there with your arms crossed.

Sets. Sorry, what was the question.

How are you convince them to listen to the podcast?

I mean that last minute or two was just great content.

Really send them. We mentioned their names, oppressions. Thanks.

Do you say he likes the impressions?

No?

No, don't we.

Actually get the what impression?

We get good guests? There's no one in personal.

Actual impressions of no mean impressions, social media impression, impressions on social media and reach.

He loves that.

He loves that. Roger Federer had a document I've watched his the other night on rival. What would be what would you describe Amazon as a rival streamer? Yes, they're not really bigger than that network.

They bought the Cricket World Cup Rights Office, so that's a rival.

So do they just win the rains on? They just say there's rain, it's great. It's just like there's rain screen. But to be fair, who.

Would broadcast cricket and expect rain to happen? Come on?

I don't think they fully thought they purchased through but anyway.

Too busy selling books or whatever it is they.

Do, Yes, the books, so they do. No, it took a podcast to get good guests on. I'm trying to think of anything else could come on? I could, I could, No, I won't say I want.

Don't don't. If you say it, you have to bring them on.

I don't have to you do I actually don't. I'll say he's available to me.

If need be, okay, direct line.

He may, but it's controversial. He's controversial. I don't want to bring one here. And Max wouldn't. Max particularly wouldn't.

Lie right, okay?

But would it leads to good audio content?

What does that mean?

It would be it would lead to I think it leads to good audio content. I don't think Ben would like him to be honest.

Is really Okay, let's have a contest tweet in and if you can guess who David talking about.

This person used to use Twitter.

You will do, he will do. He will get the person on the phone and on the show he used to.

It's easy. He used to use Twitter doesn't use it anymore. Jack Dorsey a controversial figure. You really wouldn't like him. I don't like him.

Either, to be honest, International Donald, Yes, yeah it is.

I don't know if we ne anyone you could, I didn't. I said I think I can get him on That's what I said. I don't do impressions. Okay, I make phone calls. Let's finish with it. I was let's finish old mate Sean who agreed with my take on Wooden spoons McDonald's being horrible. Have you gotten any fights this week?

Have I gotten anything on Twitter? No? I didn't tweet as much on the weekend, so that helps me avoid the fights. It's a good tactic.

I feel like your sweet spot is when you do the stat immediately after the game. Yes, and then just like on Fox Footy, I feel like that's your real that's just coming off really nicely off the bat. Yeah, when you start edging.

That's my one outside edge.

Like when you're start getting a bit involved with trolls, I just think I don't think it goes well.

I can't believe that you have used a cricket analogy as our former BBL correspondent on Foxports.

You don't realize I have to say outside edge or inside and edge?

Is that how it works?

I think edged stadium and.

Also a cricket analogy to explain me like, none of that makes combination. Finish it off, finish up with the leg When will the power rankings on fast food restaurants be available? Sure you will know what the rankings and we know what number one is and the same that we know that Sydney's number one and the power rankings.

So I thought you're gonna say in the cities they're not.

No, I would not say that. It would be ridiculous.

Do you think Sydney's better than Melbourne?

No?

Do you think Sidney's better? I always feel I'll put it another way, Sydney is superior to Melbourne? Fair or fast? Are you going to podcast friendly?

Well, I'm very based. I'd say fast.

Yeahah, I think we're all biased and that would say the same thing we need like a third party.

I think it is more expensive.

I only ever hear in Melbournian's or Sydney side.

Is that what they call say?

I never hear someone externally say that their peace and I think it really is not.

Sydney is nice at to visit.

It's prettier, so why would they come here?

I always feel claustrophobic whenever I go to Sydney.

Yeah, okay, I can see that. It's like Melbourne has more sprawl, but Sydney feels like it sprawls out more just because of the structure of it.

Feels like I'm always they've got two cities on top of me.

They've got like two separate CBDs, are they well, no, like two, it's an interesting system of city design with.

The CBD, and then they've got like North Sydney.

Yeah, it's like an interesting where. We haven't got that. No, we just have a but that's a bad thing. We have the actual city.

Of train lines that works better I think than our sort of spoke model.

Yeah. Actually, sorry, we're going too far. I know someone complained last week. I look before that we don't talk about to get enough on the Fox Footy podcast too bad.

So I'm not going into the other thing.

Well, let's just go to the tips instead, then, thank you, thank you.

We've back to nine games in the Tips.

This weekend long tipping segment.

So we've got the five game. We're back to five games on a Saturday as well, so the only place to watch all of those games is on Fox Footy. But we start on Friday night with the lines and the Demon's tenth v. Ninth but it doesn't feel like tenth v.

Ninth So this is the first round of the floating fixture in effect. Yes, and they've got a crap game on Friday night because Melbourne's turned back.

Well what if they become good?

Well if it's a surprisingly close game, I'll take my boys.

But it feels like the D's have changed their style to a less esthetically pleasing style.

And they were already pretty hard to watch. So Brisbane very well could thrash them in the same like it's like that Brisbane Richmond game.

Ask you for a margin this summer night fifty eight, geez you reckon, They're gonna get absolutely smashed.

Brisbane is very good and playing at home, Melbourne is arguably down two of their three best players because the track is injured and Clayton Oliver is nothing like what he was last year or before that.

Brisbane by thirty three?

Okay, thank you.

Melbourne won't bet Brisbane and Brisbane?

Is anyone? I wonder if maybe I should I shouldn't say anything because you'll see if anyone gets that.

Reference North Melbourne against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium.

Bulldogs, will we bet Brisbane in Brisbane?

Okay, cheers him?

Ass don't he said that?

No?

See steals and that I just said it. You didn't hear it as a three sixty open a six million times? No? Never mind? What's the game?

North Melbourne and the Bulldogs Bulldogs Stadium, Sydney and Freeman or first b fifth of the SCG Sydney. Keep in mind Frio was much closer to Sydney than it seemed like when they played.

Eighteen didn't they kick like six goals twenty four?

Not a good knight for it coming off to the Cam McCarthy emotion of course that week, so that did impact things, But I do not think they will get close this week either.

Sydney So Gold Coast played Collingwood. It is almost exactly ten years since the Gary Abblett shoulder injury, same time, same venue, same round, number both Brown Cafe. Brent McAffer, I don't think has I think he's in emergencies. I don't think he's got a lot of injuries.

But it's not quite that bad.

Brent McCaffer.

Nearly exactly ten years ago, that was gold Coast's best of a finals chance. He'd probably say that was the season.

That was the last time they were in the eight this deep into a season. They McK era gy mckinne era.

That's right.

I think so Sonsies, really, I think they can.

Is that a head tip or a heart?

That's a head tip, heart to hearts.

I don't think his heart cares about the Suns.

No, well, his heart doesn't.

Heart tip would be the Pies because you know they're going pretty well. But no head tip, says Sons.

Collenwood, Adelaide and the Giants Adelaide Oval must win game for the.

Giants, Leaning Giants.

Just this is tough. I'm also I'm going.

To three really hard games this satellity tip.

The other game is Gelong and Essendon at the MCG Yeah, so harder.

Tip yeah, Geelong. Oh I think I'm leading Gelong.

Really yeah, you said that you weren't convinced by Essendon.

Look, I think they're good, but I think these are two fifth to eighth teams.

Okay, but at the time of recording they won't have Dangerfield, that is true. They're definitely not gonna have Tom Hargan.

That actually may swing my tip whether or not, so keep that in Mindeston.

You mentioned Saint Kilda and Port Adelaide and how this is should be for a team in Port Adelaide's position. Again, they should win, will they win?

I'm tipping the Saints. Saints have last three games, they've won two and they were pretty good against Brisbane and Brisbane.

Speak Robbie, Saint Kilda and then Richmond takes on Carlton Sunday three twenty times Slotties back two big VIC clubs but to seven second.

Only one good club at the time at this moment, speak.

You look Carlton please, yeah, oh.

Yeah, Richmond tractors them easy, Carlson.

And then we finished with West Coast and Haws.

This is a very fascinating match. HARLEYE ready is yes Hawks, Hawks or yeah Hawks?

Where with the Hawthorne on the run home and how are they?

Yeah, where they finishing?

I think I had them like eleventh. So again it's just that like half a game, like a game out. Yeah, I've protected have them projected for eleven point seventy five wins, you know, so it's.

Going to be an interesting result. You put the graphic out there and everyone's how many points is that?

I love your impression of the general view, it.

Would be you can't have it would be forty seven premiership points to be precise.

Finished with forty seven premiership points. Yeah, that'sat it's going.

To be even hard for Port to finish on twelve point three five wins, but eleven point and you can get in with you know, thirteen, So they're very close and they can't drop games like this if they're any chance.

That's a really interesting match. That's actually it's actually hard to tip.

That one over there particularly.

Yeah, just make sure you're nice and caffeinated.

After I hit like two PM and I have one PM and I have coffee.

It is well it is after two pms to be having one. Now I don't make coffee, Why right, I'm not having because I won't sleep even if you have one, now it's I don't sleep.

What time do they go into?

What caffine in your body?

This is my issue with things right. So every time you google something how long as it last?

Says?

It says half life is the half life, not the video. And the half life of this medication is eight hours. So, like I said, sixteen hours is how long it lasts? Why do you have to tell me?

No?

Why is that's not what half life does? I don't think it necessarily means half.

But how come every time I say how long does there's a shot of coffee last? It always says the half life of coffee is approximately eight hours. So I'm not gonna say if I google what's the life expectancy of a turtle, it's not going to say the half life of a turtles is fifty years. Just tell me one hundred. Why do I have to I have to do maths to find out the answer, elderly turtle.

David, I would like you to look up the dictionary definition of the word half life and get back to it.

But it's it's how long before half the dose is process? It processed in your system? Is it not?

I don't know myself, But I don't see.

Why are you telling me to look at.

Life of nuclear power like the energy that comes off it. They don't mean that half life means how long it lasts, like how long it's radioactive. I think doesn't.

It does a lot of life as something is the life. So why are you telling me half life?

What does half life mean?

We'll google it and we'll get back to you next week on the next podcast. Yes, so keep clicking back.

Is this the ending?

It's how long it takes for it to be removed from your body?

No, it's not. It is.

It's Gordon Freeman's Involve Shit podcast. Don't mute us.
