The nonprofit organisation the FairPlay Movement, says the joint submission to South Africa's National Treasury by chicken producers and importers to have Value Added Tax (VAT) removed from essential chicken products, has the potential to benefit millions of South Africans and help combat the alarming rise in malnutrition.
FairPlay Movement argues that if chicken is made more affordable for poor consumers by zero-rating, more chicken is likely to be consumed.
