South Africa has taken a significant step in its fight against terrorism, issuing its first-ever court order under counter-terrorism legislation. The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), confirmed that the order which freezes assets linked to terrorist activities, was issued against two individuals and two companies. The directive targets Abdirizak Mohamed Abdi Jimale and Bashir Abdi Hassan, along with Almisbaax Pty Ltd and Heeryo Trading Enterprise. This marks the first such action under the amended Protection of Constitutional Democracy Against Terrorist and Related Activities Act (Pocdatara) since its revision in 2022. Channel Africa business reporter Innocent Semosa filed this report.
