South Africa's (SA) credit outlook has received a boost after Fitch Ratings upgraded the country's long-term foreign and local currency credit ratings from "BB-" to "BB."
SA's treasury says the upgrade signals improved investor confidence in SA's fiscal outlook and suggests that recent economic and policy developments are beginning to stabilise the country's credit profile. It also reflects a cautiously positive assessment of government efforts to strengthen public finances and support long-term growth prospects.
