Uganda's national carrier has signed a deal with US planemaker Boeing to acquire 10 new passenger and cargo aircraft.
The signing of the aircraft acquisition agreement, which was witnessed by Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni, is aimed at boosting trade, tourism and investment.
But can Uganda Airlines compete with the region's established carriers, and will this major investment help position the country as a leading aviation hub in East Africa?
