Elderly internet users, or "silver surfers," are often more vulnerable than younger users, having grown up in a physical rather than digital world.
They tend to be more trusting and are enticing targets for scammers who are looking to make a quick buck. Estimates suggest that the elderly worldwide lose billions of dollars each year to online fraudsters.
