People are going to misunderstand you. Today I give you some tools to work around that.

Hey, team Gnaesa here, Welcome back to the Building Better Humans Project podcast. I wanted to talk today about people misunderstanding who you are and also the importance of understanding yourself, of knowing yourself. So I guess this comes from this idea that there are a lot of people that think they know me. So let me talk about myself in this context. I'm sure you might find something in this for you. There are a lot of people that think they know me, and the truth is they know versions of me, or they know the versions of me that they most interact with, and then they build their concept of me around that. So there'll be people that, because I'm very confident, might think that I'm arrogant. There were people because I post a lot and put a lot of my stuff out, you know, through social media, etc. Who think that I'm very egotistical about what I've achieved and what I do. But those close to me know that I'm far more driven and by what I help other people to achieve. That's actually my drive and what I help other people get through. I've been largely misunderstood my whole life, but I've learned it's less important for me to worry about how others think about me, and more important, to understand how I think about myself. Do I understand myself? Am I being true to myself? So I thought i'd give you some lessons that I've learned about dealing with the world misunderstanding you, and the importance of truly knowing and understanding yourself so that you can create the best version of you for you and those important to you. You don't have to worry about what the rest of the world thinks. So these are my five lessons. Lest Number one was not everyone will understand you, and that's okay. You can't control how others perceive you. People see you through the lens of their own experiences, assumptions, and biases. Accepting this truth is freeing. Instead of chasing validation, focus on showing up authentically the right people will understand and their connection will be genuine. Number two is your relationship with yourself sets the tone. The way you see and treat yourself matters more than the opinion of others. When you truly understand and value who you are, external judgments lose their power. Ask yourself often, am I being true to myself? Am I proud? Of the person unbecoming. Number three with self awareness is your superpower. Take time to reflect and understand your values, your desires, but also your triggers. Knowing yourself deeply helps you make choices aligned with your true self, regardless of the external noise. Self awareness allows you to filter feedback, learning from what helps and letting go of what doesn't. Number four was grace and resilience go hand in hand. Being misunderstood can feel lonely, but it builds resilience. Instead of reacting defensively, respond with grace. Your calmness speaks volumes about your strength. Remember, being misunderstood often means that you're bold enough to stand apart and embrace your uniqueness. And my last one was that your growth inspires others. As you work on understanding and improving yourself, you naturally inspire those around you By prioritizing your well being and authentically, you show up and you show others the importance of doing the same. You become a light for those seeking their own clarity. Remb The world doesn't have to fully understand you for you to thrive. The most important thing is to know yourself, and when you do, you become the best version of you, for you and the people who truly matter.
