The continued reports of violence against women are leaving many South Africans angry, grieving and afraid. For survivors of gender-based violence, these stories can also reopen emotional wounds and trigger painful memories. 

But even women who have not personally experienced GBV may find themselves living with heightened anxiety and constantly questioning their safety. 

How do survivors begin to heal, and how can women remain aware without allowing fear to consume their daily lives? Joining us to help navigate trauma, triggers and the emotional weight of the current environment is therapist, educator and trauma-informed facilitator Louise Westerhout, whose work engages with GBV, trauma, healing, consent and social justice.
