Ok look, I could sit here and spend hours, probably days recapping the horrific game 5 for the Spurs. And I know the topic online since the game ended has been “poor officiating.” And it’s hard to disagree if you’re a Spurs fan. The controversy was on two plays in particular- a Luke Kornet outback that was swatted away on the rim, and then an incorrect call that the ball went off of Wemby and not Chet Holmgren, which in fact both shown on the telecast were unanimously agreed to be wrong calls by analysts. And then, the cherry on top- Coach Mitch Johnson tries to challenge said call, and there’s no whistle to stop play. Johnson was then issued a technical foul after a furious height of emotions. It was an entire mess- but I’ll say this- you as a team cannot have 15 turnovers as a team and still win the game. Oklahoma City had 16, but they were beating the Spurs in transition points. That was the difference. The Spurs shot 37 of 92 in field goals, which, not to sugarcoat, is a terrible number. 127-114, Thunder took game 5. Spurs need to give it everything they’ve got tomorrow night as they face elimination. Made shots, no turnovers, good defense, and really no mistakes. Game 6- Frost Bank Center- 7:30 on NBC. The Spurs need a perfect game.
