You know, history is such a funny thing… and sometimes it just happens to repeat itself. Unfortunately, that was the case last night. As heard here on Boerne Radio, your Lady Greyhounds in the first round of the UIL playoffs draw Cedar Park… the opponent that beat them on a heartbreaking buzzer beater last year. Early on, both teams were off to slow starts. Boerne never had the lead until the 2nd quarter. It was 23-20 Boerne at the half… and then a close second half as it would come down to the last shot. Boerne has the inbound from the sideline with 4.2 seconds left… Addison Palluch gets it to Hartley Menn on the left block, puts up a contested shot, and no foul call… the bench was scratching their heads and the game ended in controversy. Final from Northside, 39-37 Cedar Park. They advance and Boerne is out, but a fantastic season nevertheless for the Lady Hounds. Coach Amy Ruede and company had a great team all year, and made Boerne very proud.
Collectively, it only continues from here. We have Geneva girls tonight taking on Rosehill Christian at 6 today in their area playoff matchup. And the boys will be in playoff action starting next week. Champion has gotten the attention of the Express News as they have now won 8 straight. They face Smithson Valley tonight at 6:30, as a win or loss might make a difference if at all of who they will play in the first round.
