Headlines: Knicks beat Spurs in Game 1 of Finals / UT Longhorns one win away from back to back softball titles / Boerne ISD named “District of Distinction”

Game 1 of the NBA Finals - last night at the Frost Bank Center. It did not feel real at all. It felt like a fever dream if anything. To the action, Jalen Brunson, the star player on New York, exchanged a shot with Wemby to start the game… talk about cinema. A game of runs was the storyline. The Spurs led most of the way through, and after 3 frames, we were tied at 76. In the 4th quarter down the stretch, New York started hitting their shots. Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Karl Anthony Towns were outperforming Wemby, Castle, Fox, and the others. Final was 105-95, New York takes game 1.

Following the game, Mitch Johnson spoke to the media. The Spurs shot only 36% in field goals, and had only 16 assists. Johnson said to expect changes in game 2. And this goes back to the first game jitters. 

All in all, the Knicks in the postseason have outscored their opponents in the 11-game win streak they had coming into it, by 262 points which is a lot. The Spurs in one game, lost by only 10. Game 2 becomes a must win as you don’t want to head to the Big Apple down 2 games. The 2nd game is tomorrow at 7:30 from San Antonio.

From Oklahoma City, UT takes game 1 of the college Softball World Series over Texas Tech, 7-3 the final score. They could win the championship for the 2nd year in a row tonight with a win in game 2. 

And while summer is on and the camps are underway throughout the districts, Stan Leech finds himself at the Texas High School Athletics Director’s Association State Conference. Boerne ISD was one of only 39 districts named a District of Distinction for this year. And all around a great title for the district, and Stan for sure is happy.
