Let’s start in Omaha again for the championship round of the College Baseball World Series. Saturday night, it was all Oklahoma. Both teams put up runs in the first as it was 3-2 North Carolina. OU would put up a crooked inning in the fourth, with 4 runs. They would get two more the rest of the game, and hold the Tar Heels to none. Sooners win game 1, by a final of 9-3. Those 9 runs came off of 14 hits- former Greyhound Camden Johnson contributed as well- he had 2 hits and an RBI in 4 at bats. In game 2 on Sunday, a completely different story- 6-2 North Carolina won as Oklahoma struggled through most of the game and then rallied in the 9th but it wasn’t enough. Tonight is the third and deciding game. It’s win or go home at 7pm, and will air on ESPN.

Brady Chandler, Geneva’s talented pole vault athlete, now an alum, competed at the Nike Outdoor Nationals at the University of Oregon over the weekend. And let me just say, he’s broken records and set personal ones over time- there’s a reason he deserves to be among the best. His performance of 4.44m placed him in the top 40 among those competing. The Olympics are only a couple of years away and he looks good!

And didn’t it feel like we just ended the NBA season? Yeah that’s because your San Antonio Spurs were just in the Finals. In fact, game 7 would’ve taken place this past Friday but, we don’t talk about that… we look ahead to the draft tomorrow night. We’ll have a preview on tomorrow’s report, and what the Spurs could use in the hunt for their next rookie.

And a happy belated birthday to Boerne ISD Athletic Director Stan Leech! His birthday was this past Thursday.
