After taking game 1 on Thursday, and the force of a game 2 on Friday by Tivy, your Champion Chargers played an elimination game against the Tivy Antlers. Some hits early on and men on base got the ball rolling for both teams… but the fuse for Champion would extinguish and Tivy would prevail in a shutout - 3-0 the final score. In a bittersweet ending to the season, we say goodbye to the Champion seniors who were a massive part in the success of the team this year.

Alright, the Boerne Greyhounds have their next challenge in the playoffs…. The 4A Regional semifinals will be against Bishop from the Corpus-area. Game 1 is Thursday at 6 at Jourdanton, game 2 will be Friday at 1pm at the Wolff, and game 2, if needed, will be Saturday, 11am at Coastal Bend College.

A few players and even a coach made the Express-News All-Area girls soccer team. Kailey Stringfellow from the Greyhounds is a finalist for Player of the Year, Stringfellow, Kinsley Sawyer, and Ava Slay from Champion were a part of the ‘Super Team.’ For the 5A all-area team, Ava Slay represented Champion again, Anna Darling, Sophia Harper, Kinsley Sawyer, and Kailey Stringfellow represented Boerne for 4A. And your coach of the year is none other than Jeremy Shannon for the Greyhounds who coached the team to their 3rd consecutive state championship appearance. 

The Gunslingers take a huge win over Tulsa Saturday, 54-43. They’re on the road Saturday at 8 to take on the Bay Area Panthers. The Brahmas have clinched the conference championship against St. Louis on June 9th, after defeating Arlington on Sunday, 20-15.
