It’s Wednesday October 29th.
It is the 102nd anniversary of the Charleston today, the iconic 1920’s dance craze that took the world by storm. The tune was written by James P. Johnson for his broadway show Runnin’ Wild, which opened on this date in 1923.
On the front page today’s Boerne Star is the headline the Dam has broken, the Beaver is heading to Boerne…The City Council Meeting happened on Monday night this week due to some scheduling challenges…and the hot topic was Buc-ees with the announcement of the concessions they’ve made when they didn’t have to…. Our Buc-ee’s will have no more than 100 fueling stations which means just 50 pumps, and at least 26 EV charging stations. There is a reduction in signage from 75 feet to 60, and 18 wheelers will be prohibited unless they are servicing the convenience store. There is also a lighting plan in place with dark-sky compliant fixtures, also alleviating light trespass from surrounding properties. Mayor Frank Ritchie gave credit to all the folks who spoke from the community at City Council meetings and thanked Councilman Dr. Mac for his fight over the past decade.
Hello friends in Kendalia - if you were impacted by the recent tornado last weekend, you are encouraged by the Kendall County Office of Emergency Management to complete the TDEM iSTAT, which helps officials identify and understand damages done from natural disasters. This is not mandatory but will help state and local officials if completed. You can click the link in the Boerne Radio news blog if you are inspired.

It’s peak migration season for the monarch butterfly, and that means the Cibolo Center of Conservation is tagging OE-testing our winged friends. Nature Education Director Noah and Garden Keeper Shyann tested 39 Monarchs, and the winds ahead of the cold front may have given them a helpful push along their journey.
And yeah…how about that - Fall finally here - mid 60’s today and lows in the 40’s over the next couple of days. That’ll feel nice this Friday morning when Team Boerne Radio plays in the the Texas A&M Aggie Mom Golf Tournament at the Buckhorn! We need a ringer…can you play? Call me!
